Has it been 72 hours? *sigh*

Yeah, I'll take a skip/swap.

Should be able to do it tomorrow morning.

Mk. Oh, for anyone who cares, my essay got in at around 70 seconds or so to midnight. Close eh?

Turn 0: Noffink.

Turn 1: Ooooh boy. Hannibal needs to go. First our copper, then this...

He's getting to be tiresome. OTOH, the fact he got a religion is not a good sign. I hve a feeling we have nasty neighbours.

Turn 2: Nothing.

Turn 3: Well...nothing.

Turn 4: Yawn.

Turn 5: I see the AI's aren't losing any time. Oh, and I got us a chariot. *sigh*

Turn 6: More bad news. Nappy showed up and the oracle was built. Forgot screenie there.

Turn 7: Munich borders expanding. Went to hook up horses.

Turn 8: Washington has seen the glory of YWEH.

Turn 9 and Turn 10: Nothing.

So, the limits of the empire....

We'd better pray for iron.

I've had entirely too many "pray for Iron" games lately. If we don't have it, do we hit Hannibal to get Copper? Or just tech to Construction?

We should keep an eye on relations between Alex and Hannibal. There's going to be some religious tension there, possibly we could provoke a war.

The west coast barb city is on a good spot, if we're interested in diverting enough troops to take it.

I think it's actually good news that Nappy is here, too. We're on a continent of five, which means lots of trading, and the "other continent" will be horribly backwards. So we can keep an accurate eye on things and stir up trouble early and often, to our benefit.

peace,
lilnev

Yeah, large continent = good for domination. Less incontinental war. Probably we can win without attacking the other continent. Secondly, pray for Iron. Third, we need to expand. South and east look to be the best bet, perhaps 1 or 2 more cities there. Fourth, If we are building stonehenge, it should not be built in berlin, it will dilute the GE points if we succeed. Right now, Berlin should run 2 scientist to help with research, as long as there is nothing that needs building. Fifth, we should probably whip the library in Hamburg, as once it is complete, we will quickly win the rice for regrowth. Sixth and lastly, we should research some other techs quickly for trade, as Alphabet should be held in reserve until the last minute to force other civs to trade through us. that, and also, literature should be gotten pretty soon to build the GL with a GE.

I think that covers what I think the next round or two should be about. :)

Yup, there are no turns in Stonehenge, just set it there for no good reason.

Alex *may* be unbalanced, but he's also pretty much blocked off.

We need to attack Hannibal, and keep Alex as an ally. Remember, someone's done this game with NO MILITARY units. So, we can keep Alex with us, I'm sure. Adopt his religion if we have to.

I would chop Stonehenge in Hamburg, not Berlin. It will demand only 2-3 forest. I did the same in the open game on Immortal and it gave me profit.

vra, can you post the save?

Here are my thoughts:

-We need to attack Alex to get our rice back unless we chop stonehenge in that city. But stonehenge introduces the risk of a GP which would be disaster imo. I think we should plan to attack Alex and Hannibal and keep Nappy and Washington happy.

-With Alex we also need to raze the city to the north and have a settler ready to build that city in the proper location to work the silver. Money and :)

-Finish alpha and trade for iron immediately imo. I would like to wait for math, maybe someone will have math to trade, but if not I don't think we can wait. Hopefully we will have iron. If not, we will need to try and hold on until construction. With ele+cat we can take out both Alex and Hannibal.

-After alpha we will want lit for the GL, which we will hopefully rush with a GE.

-Then one way or another construction...

Thoughts?

I think that Literature-->Construction is the plan grabbing the GL with a GE in Berlin. We should send some workers to go chop Stonehenge in Hamburg. Then it might produce 1 Great Prophet before the GL starts spitting out GSs. That might be good if Alex hasn't gotten a shrine for his religion yet and we take the city.

I don't think we want Stonehenge, really. Sink some hammers into it to recover as 2x gold, sure, but don't actually build the dang thing. If your point is to push Alex off the Rice... a riverside grass farm is only 1 food worse than dry Rice (and it gets a commerce to partially make up for that). We'll have that Rice by the time it matters.

If we're going to use a GE for the GL, we get to choose where to put it. Berlin is the best of our current cities, but if we go to war soon, we may have other choices. For instance, I would almost guarantee that Athens has seafood, perhaps multiples, given it's lack of other resources.

Lit-Construction sounds right. And I agree with trading Alphabet for IW immediately. I think if we can start a war between Alex and Hannibal, we should. To me, the biggest question is: If we don't have Iron, do we take the Copper from Hannibal, or just sit tight and wait for Construction?

peace,
lilnev

I think wait for construction. Enough catapults can kill anything. Just build some for collateral damage and some for city attack. Good point about Athens as GP farm though. And I guess we should save the forests at Hamburg for something else. We can invest some hammers in stonehenge anywhere, just not to build it. However, I think that settling another city in the south takes priority.

wow, someone actually played ;) GREAT!

no scientists in berlin until we get our GE. first literature then construction. immediately trade alpha for iron and maths. if we have iron, go to war against alex. if not, wait for catapults and build millions of them and then we go to war.

oh another thing. after wednesday I would need a 3 week break because I'll be on vacation (in the states, woohoo). I can't play then but I'll still contribute to the discussions.
