Emperor SG

got it

Haven't looked at the save yet but it sounds like we are gearing up for a space race, am I right in assuming this?

That seemed to be the general idea, though we still have dom as an option i believe. And i like 50's ideas of starting wars all over the world. starting a war between pacal and pericles would be a good idea since if we wanted, we could jump in and dog pile on either one. could be a good time to get rid of most of pacal's stack so we can easily take back some territory

Preturn:
One war between Mayas and Greece for 675 gold, and two techs

IBT:
India and Zara decide our deals aren't good enough, we lose 4 resouces, they want way too much for each one now

Turn 1:

IBT:
India comes back with a reseanable deal, take it and get another

Turn 2:
Go back to Zara and get the rest of our resources back

Turn 4:
Democarcy is in, start the goldenage and switch to Universial Sufferance, Free Speech, Emancipation, Free Markets
Start Scientific Method
Capital starts Statue of Liberty

Turn 8:
Start Physics, no one has it
Have 1 oil

Turn 9:
Zara got Physics

Notes:
Had view of Mayas cities for a turn, they were first to communism so that spy hurt us
2 turns of goldenage left so civic changes can still be made

And of course the save

I'll try and play tomorrow. I'd be fine with picking up an extra player or two if they are interested.

turn 0: everything looks good

lost notes on turns 1 & 2

turn 3: started oxford in Utica.

turn 4: physics in, traded it to zara for rep parts & gunpowder & 60 g
start chemistry

turn 5: a great scientist pops. After checking the chart, I'll hold him for one turn, then burn him on biology.

turn 6: GS is worth a bit more than 2 turns of research.

turn 7: start Hermitage in marble town to try and wrest the pigs back. The town would be so much better off.

turn 8: trade pacal old stuff for communism
I hesitate to swap to state property. The extra trade route is serving us well, and the food bonuses of SP won't help us. I suspect SP will still be a net win over free market, but I don't know if we have any corporation plans. If we don't swap to SP.

turn 9: biology in, steam power next

thoughts:
1) If we don't plan on doing any corporations, switch to state property.
2) A caravel is headed to Boudica. Figured we could just have a look, she only has one city on the ocean, so there shouldn't be any surprise huge navy.

3) Are we actually interested in continuing this game? I've got other things going on, which has negatively affected the quality of my reports, and I feel like I'm rushing through the game whenever it's my turn. Honestly, it looks like we all are doing the same. I'll keep going if we are interested, (although I'll be absent for about 10 days starting this Friday), but if we are just slogging along, there's no real reason to keep going.

You're right, most of our reports are pretty dull

But I'm still interested.

The brevity of my reports is mostly to do with not have a home internet connection, I pretty much always post at work which requires me to either remember to bring my notes or go from memory, and I also have to make sure I put some screenshot on my flash drive before I leave in the morning.

I'm actually only interested in SG games at the moment, I've found it hard to get into Single Player games of late. I haven't got the patience to presevere with most starts on Emperor and I am loathe to try Immortal, sounds too much like hard work.

If this games dies I probably finish it myself, I'm quite enjoying it.

I've never quit on any of SG before (leting the game die after everyone else is gone, sure, but not quit while others are playing).

I have a slow computer making my turnlogs harder to do as we go though the game (alt-tab to take notes currently takes 2-3 minutes, I've seen as worse as 10 during the modern age). My boring turn reports aren't a lack of trying or careing, its more a lack of graphic memory and my computer sometimes crashing CIV when I alt-tab.

I am still interested in this game and am willing to continue as long as other are too.

Alright then.

I think we are positioned well for a space race victory, so long as no really bad things happen to us. Just need to keep improving the commerce machine, & universal suffrage should help us through the building phase of a space race.

IHT
go to rejig our spices trade with Zara to get hi surplus 6 gold on top of the 7 he's already paying us and decide to go for his dyes instead as some cities are close to being unhappy.
Check the diplo scene to check for any trouble stirring opportunities and notice Justinian has 'enough on his hands'I don't know enough about how worst enemies are figured but he is annoyed with all on our island but mostly pericles,
Ask Zara for 5 gpt, he obliges.
Try to get some other Ais into Free market but they think it's not in their best interests, when I go to Justinian to get Open Borders he wouldn't because he's our worst enemy.
It' probably too late to gift him a tech as he's made his mind up.
Sign peace with Boudica she's frinedly with Justinian and couls vassalise to him plus there's no need for a phony war anymore.

turn 231
not much
Start few military builds

Turn 232
Pacal switch to Theocracy emancipation and State Property

IBT
Pacal loses Mayapan to Pericles so we finally get our pigs back
And in minor news Justinian declares on Zara, who just happens to have a defensive pact with Asoka, Boudica joins in too with a bribe from Justinian I guess.

Turn 233
Good to see Hermitage in Kerkouane, we have cultural dominance in Mayapan now.

IBT
Asoka asks for help in his war, I agree. Mainly because Justinian hates us anyway.

Trade him Ivory for 14 gold
Pacal and Pericles make peace.

Turn 234
Steam Power comes in chose Rifling for some defense and to boost our power rating.

Turn 235
do a bit of hurrying of gold buildings

IBT
Jusitnian captures an Indian city

turn 236
nothing

Turn 237
Rifling in start electricity

IBT
one of our caravels gets killed

Turn 238
finish SoL

IBT
we get some bad diplo with Pericles

Turn 239
Leptis build HE start a levee, I think we should watermill along its river and put it solely on troops from now on.

Thoughts
We need some military I think. Leptis could rush buy it's levee next turn and then switch solely to troops.
I was running quite a high tax slider 40% that gives us 256 gpt and over 1000 beakers, I'm not much of number cruncher so don't know whether binary would be better but that lets us rush a building every second turn or so, I've done a couple of banks and a grocer or two.
Pericles has Electicity already so we should start Broadway ASAP, we'll probably lose though.
Pacals grabbed at least 2 more cities in my turnset.
Tech situation

are you still looking for a fill? This one sounds too good to pass, so if you need another guy to bungle turn reports: I'm in!

I think that now that gold & beakers aren't rounded at each city, binary isn't really all that important. It's still useful in the early game, and for when you want to delay tech choices by a few turns, but it's not really much/any more efficient after the early game.

I'd be all for having Simon join us.

I'll be away for a while, until the 26th.

While it doesn't round down each city it does round down the sum of all cities (granted thats adds up to only a few beakers over the course of a tech). That said I did find one large benefit of the 100%/0% science is random events, random events that cost money are only good if you have the money.

Good to have you Simple Simon how about we put you at the end of the roster, that would make it:
1) MrFelony
2) dl123654
3) Zargon (on skip till 26th)
4) 50 dollar bag
5) Simple Simon

Is this ok with everyone? That would put you up after $50 gets back with the save. If you don't want the save right away we can swap.

Simple Simon must be hanging out with the pieman. :joke:

If we don't hear from Simon by tomorrow I will pick up the save.

Back from my holiday travel.

Techwise I finished Electricity, did Steel, Railroads and most of Combustion. Was thinking of a tank rush on someone for some more land or even our own continent but that still at least one turnset ahead. Techwise we are starting to really pull ahead as the world wages war.

Broadway was started in our highest production city, at 55:hammers: its our production hybrid on Mayas boarder, its 11 turns away, although Ethopia beat us to Electricity so I'm not sure we are going to get it, if not we get a good chunk of money for it.

Got a GM during my turnset, he is waiting for orders in the capital for now.

For whoever came up with the idea of the National Park City, it was a good one, settled that city and started the National Park, will have 8 free specialists from the National Park when its done and the land is improved.

Railroads were mostly done after Railroad was discovered, most workers are grouped around the Broadway city, railroading those hills and connecting cities.

Focused on spy points during my turnset with the building choices, got our spy points from 60:espionage: to 175:espionage: with jails and inteligance agencies.

Our war with Justenine is a joke, he occasionally bombs our carivel thats watching the battle, he lost 2 cities during my turnset to Ethopia though, last I checked he wanted 100gold for peace :crazyeye: .

Zargon is on break currently so that puts up $50_bag unless Simple Simon wants a go at it.

Save

Sounds good dl. I'll quietly take credit for the National Park idea :p.
I think Pericles also had Electricity before us so Broadway will be tight.

Simon if you're out there why do you jump in and grab this, I'm already up in 2 games.
