England - Victoria Thread

What does it mean: archaeologist are gained like gp with points? Or gifted when a museum district is constructed?

It could be an "archaeological"* museum is a requirement for building an Archaeologist normally... and that is where they appear (similar to University in BNW)

*not sure if narrator is just clarifying what museums do OR if there actually are different museums and you have to choose (archaeological/ natural history/ art/ religious**)

** for relics

well, we know that military land units can spawn at an encampment and naval units can spawn at harbors. it seems that some units can spawn at districts. So perhaps, archaeologist units spawn at the district that houses these "archaeological museums"? Maybe these districts give you bonus production for archaeologists?

I'm really happy civ6 is aiming at having as many leaders, units and buildings different from civ5 as possible.
Wu Zetian->Qui Shi Huangdi
Washington -> Teddy
Ramesses->Cleopatra
Elisabeth->Victoria
Nobunaga->Tokimune
I am almost sure leader of Germany will be Frederick this time. I also hope they will find another leaders instead of Napoleon, Alexander, Gandhi and Caesar/Octavian...

Remember their design concept this time around are leaders with BIG personalities.

Someone called me?

Sea Dogs are more of an Elizabeth I thing, so I guess Redcoats are part of Vicky's leader unique.

Is it me, or did they left some English UA / UB out of this featurette? I mean:

UU: Redcoat, Privateer
UB: Royal navy shipyard
UA: British museum

That makes for a tota of 4 uniques for England, VS 6 uniques for America (Mustang UU, Rough rider UU, stronger units when fighting in own continent UA, cinema district UB, founding fathers UA, stronger natural parks UA).

I am sure that these missing English uniques have to do with some yet to be announced system! I bet dollars to pennies that these unnannounced UAs have to do with the unrevealed anti-expansion mechanism, and that England will excell at colonizing far away lands and going wide due to decreased expansion penalties!

Wait, New England is a Civ? ;)

Really like Victoria as the leader choice here. The uniques they described are pretty cool.

The "bully bonus" will please the PolyCast team :)

Well, it's more about how they balance as a whole, rather than having an equal number of components. That being said, I feel like we are missing part of Victoria's Leader Unique. Redcoats are part of it like Rough Riders are part of Teddy's.

Also, we don't know what Victoria's Agenda is.

Actually technically there are only 4 uniques, TR's just has 3 parts (Natural Parks, continent fighting, rough Rider). Vicky's is apparently just 1.

(although the British museum sounds like a UB..maybe there is a hidden UA)

Are archaeologists named this time around?

Also at first I was like "whoa this ability doesn't make any sense" and then I remembered Elgin's Marbles.

Someone tell me about the historical importance of the sea dog tho. Is that a Francis Drake thing?

Yes. They are Elizabeth's privateers that raided Spain's treasure fleets.

That's why I'm surprised they've gone with Victoria. Whilst I admittedly don't know a great deal about her actual personality, the common public perception is she was quite serious, stodgy, and stern. Certainly she isn't thought of as having had a "big" personality like Teddy for the Americans for example.

I feel ripped off. I thought this was a video about New England. :mad:

Anyway, really happy about Victoria being the leader of the English. She looks good and the unique abilities seem pretty solid. :)

Looks nice!

Other things:

Finally! Snow-covered trees in the tundra! Though, for me, the tundra terrain itself will take some getting used to; I'm used to looking at the dark gray ones of Civ 5.

Also, I haven't noticed this before, but I like the rock and water ripple details within rivers, I've never noticed them before! They help convey a sense of moving water much better.

It does feel like we might be missing something. We know that civs get 1 UA, 1UU and 1UB and the leader gets 1 UA. So,

Civ UA: british museum.
Civ UU: either the redcoat or the privateer
Civ UB: has to be royal navy shipyard
Leader UA: either the redcoat or sea dog. But then the leader UA is just a UU which seems weak. So maybe we are missing an additional part to the leader UA?

That is sheer speculation.
