How many "epic events" are in the game right now? Because in the last few games I've played I haven't had a multi-part event at all, the most extensive event I got was one that seemed to have no effect (the murder one).

I was wondering if there's a team working on epic events, or if everyone just impliments them while working on other things.

I wouldn't mind hearing some people ideas on epic events BTW...

I've never seen any multi-part event work, in 31 or 32. I didn't even know there were meant to be multi-part events until I read these forums; the crazy adviser, the murder, the unconventional student... they do nothing for me after the first event.

And in 32 I get spammed by star related events, so It's even rarer to get the other events.

I got Gaelan. Three events, like two turns apart, each with painfully obvious options (like, one with a benefit, one without -- pick the one with the benefit for all three and get a somewhat lame hero for free).

I have had multi part events... They appear infrequently but that is ok, maybe ne every 2 games.
The problem is as stated above, in particular the Circle of Galean event series, the choice is painfully obvious and the series appear a couple of turns apart.

so the follow-up parts of events should trigger far more often than the origin?

so the follow-up parts of events should trigger far more often than the origin?

Using the Gaelen events as a sample, and looking in the XML:

Part 1 has <iWeight>400
Parts 2&3 have <iWeight>-1

Either there is some other trigger (that never triggers for me) or these events are never meant to get past the first section (Unless iWeight -1 makes an event certain, which doesn't match what I've seen)

Yes, -1 means that as soon as it is possible, the event will happen immediately, without waiting for, or counting against, the normal random check for an event on each turn (so you can trigger only 1 event each turn that has a weight NOT -1, but you could trigger every event in the game which has a weight that IS -1 on a single turn).

So you have the normal 4% per turn chance of getting an event to wait for the 400 weight first event, then the next 2 turns you will automatically see the follow-ups.

If the followups never happen, what do I need to do to fix them? I get this behavior for every multi-part event, no matter which options I choose for the first part.

I would suspect the follow-up just doesn't exist yet. To my knowledge only Gaelan and the City Feud events actually have follow-ups so far, and I haven't heard anyone mention the City Feud's yet, so wonder if they are in the game, or just in the code. I'd have to check closer sometime just to be sure though.

To check yourself, there ought to be a tag called <PreReqEvent> or something like that, search for "<PreReqEvent>EVENT" and you should find every case where another event is required. Then look at the <iWeight> of each of those to ensure it is -1. If that is the case, then it ought to happen the turn after you accomplish the prereq.

Can I have your firstborn cat?

Gasp heresy.!

I read a short story once where a long time ago the world was different. The cats ruled the world and the humans were pets and servants and much smaller than the cats who were often cruel to them.

But one human had a dream and in this dream he saw that if 1000 humans could all have the same dream at the same time, the world would change. So he told all the humans and eventually it happened. The next morning the world woke up and the cats were small and the humans ruled the world. The story starts as an old cat tells a young cat that his mission must be to tell as many cats as possible that 1000 cats must have the same dream at the same time.....

So dont upset cats - you never know when they may have their dream :)

There is code in place for a City Feud event between your captial and one other city in your empire. Didn't pay much attention to how you trigger them off though, so I'm not certain they have been implemented.

I've encountered an event, not sure if is the one you are referring to:

It was some commercial conflict between capital and another city, and I was asked to make a choice out of 3:
1. favoring the capital
2. favoring the other city
3. do not interfere

I chose to favor the capital. And a few turns later, I was reported the other city sent someone to set fire in the capital. I think it was my luck that on building in the capital was destroyed. Then I was given some choice again. I chose the one which returned me an adept with Fire I; can't remember the rest options.

Like most others I encountered the Gaelan event but nothing else so far. But, in the same game (and around the same time) I also got the event that gives you the bandit leader as a horse-hero for the first time. I suddenly had lots of heroes in that game :)
