Eragon mod

good ideas ;)

im still have probs with the unit task bar any one here got any ideas its prob something obvios that i have missed out.

[EDIT] yay fixed the prob. Got the xml wrong in the art defines unit file...... i think.....
units work fine again and iv just put in durza editing him a bit now. But ice2k4 will have to do the timed thing i cant do that....
 
i just had a test play through with the units so far. There actually quite good for me...lol. It was me as the varden (not the actual civ) v.s the urgals (again not the actual civ) it was just like the battle of farthen dur exept me the varden lost.... lol. My exuse is they had durza and i didnt have a hero. A few balance tweaks and i should have half the units so far done......
Just thought id let u know how the games coming along....
 
great. The Civ file is pretty much finished, and I'm trying to the leaders, which is quite difficult as the leader file is very deep. btw are the buildings going to change, or are they staying the same? :p, you see, I was thinking of changing the traits to something more suitable, and the buildings matter in it (for example, Magical, Evil are ones I was thinking), as it is very easy. :p
 
i dont know how to change buildings but someone else might......
iv put a request in for a eragon hero model

this sounds a very XML mod, and someone else would help with python, or even SDK stuff later... :mischief:

you haven't seen them yet..... :( , something is very wrong...

and I don't know where to get pictures for all of these leaders, at the moment they all look like sid miers :p
 
That's fine don't worry about graphics yet.Let's focus on getting all the game concepts down, then we can make it look realistic. Someone's going to have to do a tech tree for me to do the unit thing.

Also, I was getting really into the map last night, and this morning, and I'm having a few problems of my own. I did the map using third party programs (python) and I'm getting an island, instead of a continent with water only to the west. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I will work more on it tonight.

Why don't you just use worldbuilder, if you keep on trying with python, i might try and make a map without resources, and PM it to you.:goodjob: to you for trying python, I could never do that.

lol. Im sorry to say I took a break yesterday and today from the mind-sattering modding I was trying to do, so I can conercentrate on school and what's going on with Warlords, Spore and Wii at E3. :mischief:. The Weekends coming up, so If I don't get back to it tommorow I'll start the day after.

I'm not that great with this stuff. I started, but I realized that a lot of this tech stuff is really really confusing.:confused:

P.S. I've just finished my read thourgh of Eragon, and I'm moving to Eldest!
 
have you tried using a utility program for the techs???
 
Well, in regards to whomever said worldbuilder, it would be really hard trying to map out the continent exactly (which I have enough pride to intend to do that.) With python though, I copy and paste a map of algeasia from their online site (eragon.com) and I just color over it in photoshop, this way, the map is amazingly accurate.

Sorry I'm working at a lot slower pace then the rest of you, but I go to school from 10-430 and get home around 530, so I don't have much time (I don't have the energy to mod in the morning, and I'm out on the weekends.)

Once someone get's a tech tree done, I'll start working on the heros, and hopefully by this weekend I'll have your map ready.

To whomever says your not good at your job in the mod, and you want to drop out, don't worry about it. Just try what you can, and don't get frustrated. We don't have any avid modders on the team (that I'm aware of) so any help is appreciated.

There's a problem. I tested them and I must have made an XML mistake somewhere, and I have to go searching :cry: , pain beyond reason. Time to get an XML editor I think.....

I'll have them up as soon as I know they work and have checked to see evrething is as it should be, but you'll stil have to edit them yourself a bit (unless you want the varden able to train urglas or soemthign stupid), because somethings I can't do because others are doing them. I presume you know what I mean. :goodjob:

to get the units to only be in a certain civ you can edit the units xml file i think..... Either that or i give each civ 3 baisic units that are accesible to all civs like archer swordsmen and spearmen ect... then each civ has there hero and 3-4 uu like elven archer-swordsmen-and rider for the elves empire eliet ect for the empire and so on and so forth but i will prob do it the other way.

any ideas on galabortix unit...........
