European Middle Ages Mod Resurrection

Unfortunately I think that all of the python such as the events and the accurate city placement will have to be in a seperate download and mod since all of tyhe python would asffect all maps, not just that one I think.

Well, the python could probably be done only to affect one map, but it's not important. Thank you a lot for the city list Broken_Hawk, I'll include it soon. I updated the to-do list on the first page, if anyone's interested. The big things for the next version is getting more art and doing buildings.

I get this error message when I load the (0.45) mod:

Tag: in Info class was incorrect
Current XML file is: Units/CIV4UnitInfos.xml

as soon as I push enter to end turn 1 my computer blue screens

the last version worked fine on my comp.

That error (the XML Unitinfos one) is a known one and if you see on the first page that it is being worked on for the next version. That CTD error has not been reported before and it hasn't happened to me or any of the others I think. What civ were you playing, and what map, and what civs were you against? Also, if you provide a savegame it would help more, but thanks for the report.:goodjob:

Well, I've taken a short break from searching for that stupid xml error to add in UU art. I've added in about 8 and am finding tons of good art in the new units sub-forum. If any of you see anything that looks like it might fit please tell me about.

How about an execution area building giving +1 happiness since in those days it was fun to watch an execution, and you cleared the streets of some crime.

Also, I am working on a scenario using Iuvavus' new Middle East map going from about 1100 to 1222.

I've a number of ideas for buildings, but I need a few days to sit down and compite/rationalize them.

Here's an easy, quick one, though...

Tourney - same effect as Theatre... possible that it gives +experience for knight type units (I think this is only possible for Warlords). Arab/Egypt/Turkic equivalent would possibly be a horse/camel racing competitive event.

also, national wonder... Grand or Royal Tourney... equivalent effects to Globe Theatre national wonder.

Both these would require that you choose some tech on which to allow the influence (culture) slider to be adjusted to change the happiness output. Since it is influence rather than culture used in this mod, I suggest some sort of government, noble or state power related tech.

I have numerous other suggestions, but I need to develope the ideas further, then I'll bring them forward.

Just off the top of my head,

Dungeon -25% War Weariness
Apothecary +1 Health
Training Grounds +2 or 3 XP
Merchant's Guild +1 Trade route

I'm following this mod since hr.oscar originaly made it. Now I have a little request. Is it possible to add a upload date to the version numbers? This
Version 0.45 is now out!
dont tell the whole story if I don't know when "now" is. Yes, there is always a note "Last edited by ..." but I would prefere a date somewhere near to the download link. Thank you and no harm meant!

[edit: Thank you, that's better now. :)]

Are you going to post a patch for the XML error? Maybe you could just upload the corrected file(s).

I have an idea for tweaking the map in the area of Lithuania. Put in some unproductive marsh/swamp tiles in that region. There are large marshes in Poland and Belarus to this day. I saw a MOD somewhere that was using such tiles. I can look around if you think it is a good idea.

How about a Safe Port building? A safe port means that the harbor has been walled to protect it from attack and it had a lot of lighthouse sentries. Ayas/Lajazzo is an example of a safe port. I would think that it would add another trade route, since traders would prefer trading in a safe harbor than a vulnerable one. A good source to find medieval stuff (units, buildings, banners, etc.) would be found in this mod for Rome: Total War, Chivalry Total War a complete conversion to the Medieval setting from the vanilla Rome setting. Very realistic mod too.

EDIT: Yet I suppose you won't be able to use it if you don't have Rome Total War.
