The latter is more interesting...
It doesn't support it, just like it doesn't support the Armenian I am translating. You have to use English letters to get the required sound.Head Serf,
if you want, I can help you with Masri (Egyptian Arabic) translation but I didn't know Civ 4 could support arabic characters...cool.![]()
hmm but um, what's the point if other people won't understand what it says?![]()
What are the civs in your scenario, Head Serf? By the way, sorry about me not having the translation yet, I have been swamped with work.I think Drtad and Craig_Sutter explained the diplomacy well enough.
EDIT: Here's the map of my Europe 500 scenario. It actually goes a little farther north to include two more Viking cities, but I was having problems with paint so I left it as is. I also had problems with the area around the Bulgars (north of the black sea) but all of their cities are there.
Ive completed the Wonder review and would like to suggest the following changes:
Dome of the Rock this is currently a Judaism world wonder that provides +1 gold for all Jewish buildings (vanilla Spiral Minaret). However, I think the Dome of the Rock is actually an Islamic mosque, although the site of the mosque, Temple Mount, is revered by Judaism. (Im not sure about this, does anybody else have some insight?) I think in purpose, +1 gold from all religious buildings actually fits quite nicely with Catholicism given mandatory tithing and the Papal extravagance cited by Martin Luther. The Lateran Palace was the Vatican City of the Middle Ages.
- Dome of the Rock --> Lateran Palace: requires Catholicism as State Religion; provides +1 gold from all religious buildings in civ, +6 infl, +2gpp Saint; +100% with marble
Given the new importance of Christian Relics to Catholicism and Orthodoxy, I think it makes sense to make more Christian Relics available. Orthodox/Catholic reliquaries also provide relics, so this would mean there are a total of 4 relics in play. Relics are worthless to Islamic, Jewish, or Pagan civs but this means they can trade it to the highest Catholic/Orthodox bidder.
- Shrine of the Three Kings --> provides Christian Relics, +2gpp Saint, +4 infl
- Relic of the True Cross (no change) - provides Christian Relics, +2gpp Saint, +4 infl
Mount Athos currently acts as the vanilla Great Library (+2 free scholars), and requires Orthodoxy as State Religion. I think a free monastery use is more true to the real Mount Athos.
- Mount Athos --> requires Orthodoxy as State Religion, provides free Orthodox monastery in all cities, +6 infl; +2gpp Saint
Palatine Chapel serves as the vanilla Versailles. Although the Aachen served as a joint capital during Charlemagnes reign, I couldnt find much information on his Aachen palace. It seems the Palatine Chapel was the castles chapel. I think the Heidelberg Castle might work better as an additional seat of govt, simply because it is verifiable, and doesnt sound like a religious building.
- Sistine Chapel --> add Catholicism as State Religion requirement
- Notre Dame --> remove State Religion Catholicism requirement
- Theodosian Walls --> remove State Religion Orthodoxy requirement
- Palatine Chapel --> Heidelberg Castle (name change), remove State Religion Catholicism requirement
Heidelberg Castle provides +1 health in all cities and allows one free tech (vanilla Hanging Gardens and Oracle combined.) However, we have other Castles and Walls causing unhealthiness, so this is inconsistent. Also, the Heidelberg Castle wasnt built until the 13th century, so it needs to move further back in the tech tree than Feudalism (level 4).
I cant think of anything to assume the current health functions of Heidelberg Castle if we re-deploy it as Palatine Chapel. Anybody?
- Heidelberg Castle --> Magna Carta, allows builder to choose one free tech
- Heidelberg Castle --> ???, +1 health in all cities
Theodosian Walls and Carcassonne each provide a large defensive bonus for the host city only, +200% and +100% respectively. Perhaps these should each provide a defensive bonus to all cities as well?
- Theodosian Walls --> add +10% defense in all cities, remove Orthodoxy State Religion requirement
- Carcassonne --> add +25% defense in all cities
Krak des Chevaliers currently adds 50% defense and +3xp in its host city. Perhaps the xp could be extended to all cities?
- Krak des Chevaliers --> add +3xp in all cities
With the state religion requirement changes suggested above, Wonders that require state religions would be as follows:
Paganism no wonder
Judaism no wonder should we have one?
Catholicism Sistine Chapel, Lateran Palace
Islam Al-Aqsa Mosque, Al-Azhar University
Orthodoxy Assumption Cathedral, Mount Athos
Two each for the big 3, and possibly one for Judaism.
What do you guys think? -L
