European Middle Ages Mod Resurrection

Wow! What level were you playing?
I wanted to see how the AI would do with no bonuses or penalties, so I am playing on Noble difficulty. I also wanted to not interfere in AI affairs, so I decided to play conservatively and not take the lead so early on. I think I might be too late for that now.;)

P.S. Head Serf, any idea when the next version will be officially released?

Well, unfortunately, I'm going to be very busy during this week and all of next week and that weekend. I'll try to get it basically put together this weekend and then do some finishing up and testing. I don't know when I'll release it, maybe during the week of the 25th?

Oh, and I changed a good deal of the AI diplomacy/personality values. I still need to test it out though. I'll tell you all how it turns out.

Continuation of my game report:

I just completed/lost my game.:( Poland invaded Byzantium and sieged Constantnople from one side, and the Turks sieged the other side. Iheavily invade Turkey and took Kayseri, crippling them, and I completed Embassy to China and trade alliance with Merv. Then, the emirate of Damascus invaded me at this critical moment. I diverted troops to take them out. Then, I realized I had no more troops to divert. I was at 1420 about to launch an operation to save Constantinople, when at the same time, the crippled Charlemagne completed a New World victory and England completed a Hamseatic victory. Bummer, but it was a good game.:king:

Head Serf, 25th sounds good.

@Laina - Here are three ideas for Classical Heritage and two for Representation. The Representation buttons are

- The British Parliament building, which I thought would be recognizable + therefore associated in players' minds with democracy

and

- The floor of the Icelandic parliament which nicely for us has a rustic, medieval feeling to it. I also thought of using a photo of the Icelandic Althing, founded in the 10th Century + still the oldest parliament on earth -- but it just looks like a mountain lake... which is what it was... But I'll work it up if you think it might be a better choice.

Will now work on buttons for Silk Route and Trade Alliances.

best

Hello Everybody!

I'm sorry I've been a little MIA - but I'm a college basketball fan, so nothing comes before March Madness!

@Craig Sutter - thank you for the joust link ! I will take a look.

@Broken Hawk: I'm sorry I didn't respond to you sooner regarding the updated files. A few pages back I posted the files on my website for Gordon, and haven't taken them down yet - here's a link! Please let me know when you get them, I really ought to take them down! Also, please note that this set of files includes an in-progress techinfos and tech buttons - the working techs will have a pink square in-game that you can simply ignore.

ps... I've got the Hokies going one more round before getting knocked off by Kansas.

@Gordon, thank you for all your ideas and files! I will work on these early next week and respond! Also - I'm glad you mentioned the Conquest button (of the 18th c. ship) - I was really unhappy with that button, but couldn't seem to find anything better. Please give it a try! :)

@Head Serf - I'm glad you are busy this week as well. I'm sorry that I'm not done with TechInfos yet, as you are waiting to work on it. Attached is where Gordon and I are so far - updating the button references is easier than adding techs, so why don't you start working with this one, and you or I can add the button refs when you have finished adding new techs. (Buttons we are still working on have "ReplaceMe" in the button field - don't worry about this, it will just render a pink square in game until a ref is inserted.)

Also, I will work to make any other building updates and get them to you before the next release. Would you mind establishing a pre-release deadline for me?

-Laina :)

@Lania

Thanks for the link. I'll download them now. :goodjob:

One game at a time. I'll be happy to see the Hokies get past Southern Illinois tomorrow. Do you have a favorite? :)

Head Serf, just a few more issues to address:

1. Envoy still doesn't have the Explore ability.
2. Crimea needs to be reshaped.
3. Crete needs to be reshaped.
4. South Caucasus needs more grassland, hard to grow population in a historically heavily populated area.
5. Anatolia also needs more grain resources, it was the grain heart of the Byzantine Empire.

Revisiting my Holy Lance idea, maybe the four buildings (Gift from Bayezid, Reichskleinodien, Geghart, Congress of Gniezno) could just grant Christian relics?

@Broken Hawk, Glad you got the files. I'm going to take them down right now.

Well, VT got knocked off by the Salukis. Still, it was one hell of a season for the Hokies. I have UNC to win. (Roy Williams is my favorite coach.)

I'm going with the Heels too. They are the only ACC team left.

@Gordon, thank you for the buttons! I used most of them, :)

I put in a "filler" button for the projects until you have completed them. (Check out the filler button for silk road, you might want to use it for one of those!) The Mercantilism button is already in use for a civic... you and I can review the civic buttons together once we complete the projects and bonuses. So, I think it would be easier to come up with new Hansa art for now - and we can always shuffle a few buttons later when we're working on the civics. I've got the old Hansa member button in as the filler button for all the hansa projects for now. Let me know what you think!

-L

@Gordon & Head Serf: OK, here are the latest art additions. Tech art is now complete, and Project buttons are working. (There are temporary buttons referenced in ProjectInfos.)

@Head Serf, the attached TechInfos and ProjectInfos include new button references. Be careful where you download them if you've been working on yours. I'd be happy to help you update button refs if you need a hand.

@Craig Sutter, good find on the jousting arena! I made the colors more medieval looking and incorporated the model for both Tourney and Royal Tourney. A graphic credit to Woodelf is included in the pedia entry. :)

Hi this looks like a good mod. Is the version on the first post the most recent version or is there a newer version or new patches/additions?
