In the mids of the recent (and hopefully short) chaos in Serbia, im wondering, whats gonna happen with the Eurovision song contest that is suppose to be held soon in Belgrade.

Not that i really give a damn about it, but its kinda ironic that this contest, that at least has a symbolic value, is to be held in (currently) not one of the most pro-european countries in Europe.

Do you think that holding the Eurovision in Belgrade is a chance to send the message that the people in it are still interested in EU and that they haven't secluded them self in a self imposed "prison" ?

Dont troll please, you know what i meant.

Serbs are angry at some EU nations, not all. At the ones who immediately recognised Kossovo and were in favour of the bombing of Serbia a few years back.
I hope that there will not be any incident during the eurovision contest though.

Actually, no. I wasn't trying to troll. Your post really seemed to imply that being EU was necessary to consider oneself European. Otherwise, what does the EU have to do with Eurovision in Serbia making Serbs think about wanting to be in the EU? Your wording really seemed to imply that those nations that choose to not join the EU, or are not allowed to join, are somehow in some sort exile/prison.

Eurosong contest should be held in Belgrade in May! U inat šiptarskim teroristima!

The fate of a reality TV show is likely not something that the leadership in Belgrade is thinking about right now.

Reality TV show?.....do you even know what Eurovision is?

And im not saying that Eurovision is created by, and is something that represents EU, but it is something that can be easily identified with EU being all about unified Europe and exchange of its different cultures and people.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying that its the Serbs who don't want to hold it in Belgrade, but the other nations and the general organization of the festival that might be having second thoughts about it.

Ah, Eurovision, where the all the commentators go to make snarky, but truthful comments about the singing ability of various awful singers and songwriters.

An annual event where representatives of all/most European countries come together and pretend that a bunch of untalented hacks can actually sing while they vote for the winners almost exclusively down the geopolitical fault-lines of the day.

It is American idol with politics. Most Europeans are aware of this and watch it for sheer comic value.

Although I've got to give em props for Lordi. They were fun. (Second place was good that year too)

well execpt for the diplomatic backslashes it would cause i would hope that this year they stop it , heard enough of bad music already

its as if they keep eurovision deliberately cheesy most of the time the entrants are nowhere near the best of their country

Or, because it is cheesy, the best of those countries simply don't want to touch it.

LOL, the political voting should be interesting this year. Will Serbia's 12 points go to Romania or Cyprus?

 Wasn't there an Israeli participant in this? Or am I thinking of some other Eurotype contest.

Meh, must be all the same to hold it wherever they like.
