*** GAME STARTED ***

The basic idea of this game is fast expansion. I modified some settings to keep the players busy from the very beginning. ;)

Players
1. EliitMees - Zulus
2. LouLong - Mongols
3. DogBoy - Arabs
4. predesad - Russians

Special Settings:
- Only expansionist civilizations are playable (Russia, America, Zululand, Mongols, Arabia, Hittites, Portugal). I excluded Inca from that list because they have Chasqui Scout as a special unit
- Each player has 3 settlers, 3 workers, 2 scouts and 4 warriors at their starting location
- Scout has 1 defence point
- Curragh has 1 transport capacity
- Each civilization has 4 free techs instead of 2
- Starting Treasury increased to 50 gold

Map Settings:
- World Size: Small (80x80)
- Land Mass: Pangaea
- Water Coverage: 80% Water
- Climate: Normal
- Temperature: Temperate
- Age: 5 Billion
- Culturally Linked Start Locations

Game Settings:
- Difficulty: Monarch
- Barbarian Activity: Raging
- Accelerated Production
- Allow Cultural Conversions
- Preserve Random Seed
- Allow Domination Victory
- Allow Space Race Victory
- Allow Diplomatic Victory
- Allow Conquest Victory
- Allow Cultural Victory

Civilization III: Conquests v1.22

Interested. If you don't mind another game with me (BTW does that mean the other is ... well... dead ?).

- E-mail : you have it
- time zone : GMT + 2
- playing time : problem here as it is extremely random but nothing between 01 - 08 AM GMT + 2
- prefered civ : I'd like to try Mongols

a note : you must increase the starting treasury because all the units will cost a lot once the first city is built.

LouLong: of course I don't mind another game with reliable fast and devoted players ;)

I thought about increasing treasury too. How is 50 gold sounds?

count me in, although LouLong stole my preferred civ for this game

predesad @ yahoo DOT com
GMT -6
PT: somewhere between 6PM & midnight which i think is 0:00 & 6:00 GMT
civ: Russia
custom: name - predesad ; title - chief justice ; the rest can stay the same

what's our free techs?

According to Civ3QEdit, each tech has its cost: Pottery & Ceremonial Burial - 2, Bronze Working & Warrior Code - 3, Masonry & The Wheel - 4, Alphabet - 5. In order to balance the game I will distribute them so that the sum of all 4 techs would be 12 (as it is minimal number possible).

For example:
Russia has Pottery(2) and Bronze Working(3) by default. They will get Masonry(4) and Warrior Code(3) as additional free techs. 2+3+4+3=12

Portugal has Pottery(2) and Alphabet(5). They will get Bronze Working(3) and Ceremonial Burial(2). 2+5+3+2=12

I think it's fair :)

@ Predesad : Sorry Predesad. Did not mean to steal anything. I just never played Mongols in PBEM before so I wanted to try. Anyway normally I set them up and I am the last to choose. That balances things a bit !

@ Elit : yes 50 gold seems enough to me.

About the techs can we make our market ourselves with the 12 tech-gold or do you prefer to do it yourself along our civ historical features ?

I would like to play this one also now that my computer is up and running! I'm sure you have my e-mail but it is greeneclan AT mchsi DOT com in case you forgot. I am at GMT-5. I will be Arabia.

oh no! i have been stolen from twice, i was about to ask to switch from russia to arabia, but then the dogboy showed up

well, at least i have a destiny, just wish the Americans had a decent UU, i would have jumped on them, al;so would have taken Inca if available, so if I should lose i will have a long list of grievances to point out how this game was simply stacked against me :)

I like the premise, guys. Good luck.
(Everything except the stinkin' AP mode...you'll regret that in the end, I'll bet.)

Damn ... I go to work ... nothing happening. Come home from work and this PBEM has sprung up and started even before I got a chance to apply
maybe you should try to organize the game yourself (just like i did) - at least you will get 100% chance to apply
:crazyeye:

and what is so bad about accelerated production?

next turn started by the way

AP is fine, great even in the beginning, you get things happening a lot quicker, but then it becomes easy to start getting techs at the minimum 4 turn pace in the late middle / early industrial age, high shield cities can build almost any unit in one turn in the late game, things just get all out of whack in AP once you start applying the bonuses granted by libraries / universities / markets / banks / factories / power plants / stock exchanges, etc.

& if you are a micromanager like myself, most of the tricks dont apply, in AP seems there is a lot more waste, food wasted in growth, shields in production and its always in ways that are impossible to mm for better efficiency

turn to eliitmees, btw

Yes. As Predesad said. The Tech race gets totally out of whack starting in the late middle ages. Industrial & Modern ages are a blur - you have no opportunity to wage a war until Tanks as everybody is behind in infrastructure building and trying to upgrade units. Then whole game balance is skewed by the time you arrive at the Modern Age.

I'm thinking about starting another fast expansion game, but without AP this time. Just to feel the diference :)

Turn 2 started

if you start another game w/ no AP, reserve a spot for me please.

turn back to you, eliitmees
