Exploding Oil Barrel and Wonder

This is an Exploding Oil Barrel for use as a Unit.
The Oil Barrel Explodes for the Death and is in an Upright position.

I included the CIV Specific Colored Unit as well as a Non CIV Specific Colored version. I also included the Images needed for an Oil Refinery Wonder if desired.

I made this unit the same as my previously uploaded Oil Barrel Resource Unit but added more flcs and sounds so it can function more as an Immobile Unit.
I relied on sounds for all Flcs other than the Death because the Oil Barrel is
suppose to be a stationary object with this Unit.

I recommend setting the Unit Defense low. Essentially, the Death animation is
just for added graphics. IF you desire a Bombarding unit that will Kill your
Enemies use my other Unit, the Oil Barrel Bomb that functions as a Cruise Missile.

Note: I made each direction separately but after testing in game, I only used the NW, N and NE directions for the Oil Barrel to Roll Off due to the Camera making the Oil Barrel far too large to fit the game well. Although I would prefer to have each direction of Death Roll Offs... this works well.

The Oil Refinery Wonder uses the CIV III Game "Refining" Tech Image that I recolored and adjusted for use to represent an Oil Refinery Improvement or Wonder.

That would make a beautiful land mine explosion! I'd love to see it uploaded ot the database! That has got to be one of the best explosions I've seen around!
 
WOW, you guys post fast...I am stuck on SLOW Dial Up Internet Connection so uploading these last few units has taken me several hours.

Virote_Considon... the Oil Barrel Bomb and Oil Refinery will be in EFZI2 Complete because that version of this Oil Barrel uses Cruise Missile settings and has movement. This version is for those who desire a stationary unit that has graphics for the Death...I did set sounds for the attack and that works well in game because it appears that the enemy units are beating themselves up trying to destroy the Oil Barrel :lol:

This and all of the Oil Barrel Units are just to add some Game Flavor and are offered in several ways for use. Mix and Match as you prefer to gain what you want for your games.

The main difficulty is having settings that will allow a unit to kill with only one Explosion rather than "attacking" over and over again before it "dies". If a unit is set with very low Defense, it can die early but with super low Defense, it will not cause much injury.

Land Mines and Naval Mines are an example of attacking over and over and we have to assume that there are many of them represented by the one unit.

I like the idea of Booby-Traps and Powder Kegs... sure would like to have possible settings in the Editor that would provide a one time animation for a Death that could be set as desired to injure or kill besides Missiles.

Hmmm ... How about DF=1 and an appropriate DF bombard?
 
Depending upon the bombard settings it could kill the enemy unit. If they are pre-placed however wouldn't using the cruise missile flag allow it to only attack once?

Granted, but how much damage would such a booby-trap do? And there's always the possibility of more than one in a stack ... :D
 
The Cruise Missile settings are what are used with the Oil Barrel Bomb Unit because it Rolls for the movement to the Bombard tile. This Exploding Oil Barrel is static. A static unit cannot be set as a Cruise Missile because it must Bombard a square at least 1 tile away rather than its own tile.

OK, my bad. Then if you set it to lethal land bombardment also and the bombard strength and rate of fire are sufficient it will kill a unit or severely wound it.

This would keep the Oil Barrel there without being destroyed. IF a Unit is set to Bombard, it remains after Bombarding. The Only Units that can Bombard and be destroyed after Bombarding are Missiles unfortunately.
This is why I made the Oil Barrel Bomb...so it will be destroyed after Exploding one time for the Attack. The above Exploding Oil Barrel will be destroyed after Exploding but the Explosion is set for the Death.
 
Balthasar... No confusion, the Powder Keg could also work as a typical unit with the Death being the Explosion the same as this Exploding Oil Barrel. The Explosion would just be for Effect during the Death. That said, it would probably be better used if the Powder Keg was set as a Cruise Missile the same as the Oil Barrel Bomb so it could Roll to the Bombard Square and actually injure or Kill the enemy when it explodes for the Bombarment :)
