Exploration Continued Expanded (Obsolete)

The loyalty component seems like it'll have a huge performance load. Is that the case?

It's less performance intensive than a standard civ of mine, and far, far less than Piety is, considering loyalty only applies to a few cities, and only executes the relevant code in a few cases, when needed. Attrition, which fires for every unit on every move, is the most performance-intensive component of this mod. It's basically a much, much simpler version of the Revolutions mod. If you notice any performance drops late-game, it'll more likely be Attrition than Loyalty (though CTDs may come from the latter, which is why I left it optional).

Congrats on colonies. Very much looking forward to the final component!

Best for last :p

OK, thanks. I'm very excited for Trade and Prestige (I know, I know)

Hey man. As long as China happens, I'm good with anything.

Sweet, I'm not feeling a strong urge to start anew with this update. A few questions beforehand:

I use Cities of Marble, which modifies every national wonder. Is the National Treasury modification like the Exploration opener/finisher in that you just add to it (essentially)? I do recall another constabulary national wonder effect, too. If so, then I shouldn't need to worry about much other than making the descriptions match.

I don't know if it's different with the new version, but Spain's UA mentioned double yields from landmarks. I recall that the landmarks are antiquated text and they were replaced by tribes. So those that mean Spain receives double the yield from tribes? Or is this referring to the landmarks created with archaeology?

Congrats on the release of the Colony component!

I had a quick check in game to see if there were any conflicts or such and I ended up repeatedly CTDing (repeated the action to make sure it wasn't a fluke) after the founding of my first colony. Admittedly, this was with the default options - maybe disabling aspects of it would have prevented this.

Here are the lua logs (I think those are relevant)

Regardless, from what I've experienced the system looks and plays really well. One question though, does low loyalty affect the yields of the colony (asides from Culture and Tourism) in any way - or does it just represent their chance to rebel?

In addition, would it be possible to have enemy spies reduce loyalty in colonies that they are stationed in? I mean, if they can sway public opinion in a city state it makes sense (immersion-wise) that they could do so in colonies as well.

Probably just a matter of text, rather than effect, yeah.

Antiquated text. I decided to leave any changes to Isabella's UA to Philip II.

Congrats on the release of the Colony component!

I'm afraid that doesn't tell me much. I've never had any CTDs with founding colonies, so it must be another mod doing something untoward to units when they die - does it crash before or after the choosing of the colony type?

Just Tourism and Culture. The risk of defecting is enough to deal with, I think. There's always room for evolution, though.

Actually, I'd orignally planned something like that, but thought it wouldn't be worth the effort, given the weakness of the espionage system and the unmodularity of it. But I'll reconsider it now that you brought it up.

ExCE updated:

  • Added support for Trading Posts Grow into Towns mod
  • Added Trade:

    Trade
    • All resources (except Strategic) and Tribes unlock "Trade Buildings," which allow further bonuses to be applied to a city depending upon the resource type that unlocked them. Each city can only support a certain number of Trades, and each resource takes up a certain number of Trade slots. You essentially build and sell Trades just like any regular building, but may only have a certain number in any given city, and you must have access to the prerequisite resource (imported or local). Consequentially, bonus resources are now tradable. Build the Trader (new Market prerequisite), Market, and East India Company buildings to increase a city's Trade capacity. (optional)
    • Protectionism social policy allows cities to support an additional Trade. (optional)
    • Netherlands may support an additionl Trade in all cities (in addition to the regular effects of their UA) (optional)
    • Resource happiness is adjusted depending upon the Trade value of the resource - this grants happiness bonuses to bonus resources, as well. (optional)
    • Trade Diplomacy screen now shows the help text for resources, explaining their Trade value (see Compatibility section)
    • Granary now includes Bison (including from Tomatekh's Sioux), and Mint now includes Copper (optional)
    • Portugal's Casa da India decision modified to allow an additional Trade to be established in all cities.

Trade includes custom support for the following unique resources: Amber, Coffee, Coral, Glass, Jade, Lapis Lazuli, Olive, Orca, Perfume, Praline, Ruffia, Rum, Salmon, Shellfish, Tobacco, Tyrian Dye, Venetian Glass, and White Elephant.

Apologies, I may have needed to be more clear. It was fine the turn I founded said colony, and the selection of the type - but it crashed on transition to the next turn. I can't think of any other mod that would be causing. In any case, I'll try the new patch and if it still crashes I'll have a rummage around to see if I can find the issue.

Also, in terms of trade now being released, may I ask what the purposes of the Grand Canal, Sofa and Ninja etc. that are mentioned in the credits sections of the OP are?

Edit; Nevermind, it seems the units are gained from trading with the Tribes - still curious about the Canal though

Hooray! Trade! (but we havent even tested colonies)
Okay turn 90 no crash so semmes it fixed.
I think buying units in colonies should be cheaper, cuz there is no real usefullness in them, and they are weaker.
Wait there is Tribe trade building? Thats wierd.

Well v.4 crashes again.
From what I experienced for 25 turns: I didn't had time to build trader so I don't know is trade buildings work. But I found that lonely lotus doesent have an trade building (because it don't have an improvement)
And trading with tribes is actuially super cool.

Yeah, I crashed after playing for around 25 turns with the trade component as well, haven't updated CP though, so it could be that

This is great! No Seals compatibility though?

Okay, just played a game. Have to say that you should be really proud of the Trade module especially, JFD. It adds a whole new element to the game that still feels like it's been there since Vanilla.

That being said, I have just one or two bugs to file:

I must be doing something wrong here. I have Community Patch and the latest ExCE installed and activated them (and only them) and this happened.

1. What icon specifically does it say it can't load?
2. I swear I fixed that... It's not EUI - just the 80x80 icon isn't set up properly.

This is great! No Seals compatibility though?

Yeah, there is. I just forgot to list it.

Edit; Nevermind, it seems the units are gained from trading with the Tribes - still curious about the Canal though

Grand Canal adds extra Trade slots in the city.

I must be doing something wrong here. I have Community Patch and the latest ExCE installed and activated them (and only them) and this happened.

I can't stress it enough :p Always check that your version of CP is up-to-date first, which is is evidently not.

As to that issue, your Lua log is also invalueable. However, this'll be from another mod which edits the CityBannerManager file.
