Im not hard right though. You can be a capatalist without being a republican which is the hard right in this country.

And i dont beileve in most of the other values of the hard right.

Radioactive Monkeys. But I never cast my vote into that box. So consider this an abstention from the poll.

I believe we can achieve a far more equitable, humane, just and prosperous world than that which the current model presides over.

Call that what you will, it varies so wildly around here. By the measure of the posts so far, I'm out in the left field from you guys.
 
I consider myself normal and mainstream. It's everyone else who is either left or right of me.

Others, for reasons I don't quite understand, seem to view me as far right on most issues, including economics.
 
I would be inclined left a bit because equality is very preferable. Because of the inaccurate connotations associated with the left this does NOT mean I want to form a dictatorship or undermine the country. I think democracy is great. Capitalism has failed to provide the final necessary step in its aim because large companies don't employ all the unemployed. So under capitalism there are still many who miss out while others have way too much money for their needs or abilities and efforts. Just last year the Wiggles (pathetic children entertainers) rolled in AU$50,000,000 for prancing around in flannel shirts. No one has enough talent to be worth 50 million. From an economic view (remember communism is a for of economy not government) communism could work if reasonably well if it had a go in a country that was not past the brink of collapse, was not destroyed twice by 2 seperate world wars, was governed by a democratic government, had sufficent social liberties and was not in a cold war with the other global superpower.
 
mostly right on this, im a liberterian too, but i believe that without some social structure and organzation in place, the world will be a very harsh place to live in. Some ppl just cannot make it. The poor will not have chance to upgrade themselve if the school are peg to the economy and no universal education and subsidising.

Also i think the economy cannot substain itself, if the ultra rich dont have ways to spend them, and the best and most efficient way is to feed the money back into the economy.

That's because the political spectrum isn't defined by yourself. :p

Common error by people, though, especially those Americans which tend to think that liberal is a dity word and that even social democracy is radical.

anyway, I'm pretty much center-right (in europe) what would be center-left in the US I guess :) (on economic issues, that is)
 
Econimically i'd say I was mainstream social liberal (i.e. left) for the UK.

I used to be quite hard left, but thats changed over the past couple of years.

I'm sure others regard me as hard left, but in my opnion to be hard left you actually have to support state ownership of all production, which i don't. Whilst I do support state ownership/running of things like transport systems and hospitals, schools and so forth, I don't want to seize all the means of production or whatever, so that puts me in the mainstream left rather than the hard left.

Anotehr thign that seprate sme form the hard left is that I don't mind giving some private companies tax breaks if it will create jobs and benifit the economy. I'm sure someone on the Hard Left would rather tax the hell out of all private companies.

Wealfare state yes, state ownership of all production no.
 
As far as economic matters are concerned, I'm very capitalist and believe a government should never have any debt, and only have deficits in times of war or other prolonged extreme necessity. I'm actually fairly radical on that latter point.

I'm a liberal in the european sense : that would mean closer "libertarian" in the semantic american struggle. But I can't fit in your "extreme right" category because I'm for state regulation on a series of issues.
Those heavy libertarians have allways made me laugh a lot, their opposit should be the holists, they should get away from any idea of state, but surprisingly this extreme libertarianism very often comes with a american nationalism. This paradox is called conservatism. LOL :)

Apparently, the People have decided that they are indeed worth that.
 
I believe that externalities should be captured, and variations of monopolies destroyed. I believe that targeted consumption tax is better than an income tax and much better than investment taxes.
