I'm asking this because as a relative newbie I often get bored if I can't see an easy chance of winning a particular game so I quit and start a new one... I suppose I should be really good at the early game by now but since I haven't dared submit a QSC yet I don't really know.
How long does it take before you get bored? Do you ever save a game with the intention of coming back to it then end up just starting a new game because it's more fun?

(fixed the agreement between the title and the poll orientation - cracker)

I tend to prefer the early game. Late war fare is far to tedious for me. To be honest though most of my games, aside from GOTM and the odd epic I find interesting, I play mostly SG's. That breaks up the game a bit and makes it less boring. Adding a bit of a variant feel helps too.

If I was playing just a straightforward game I don't think I would be playing Civ3 anymore. GOTM and the SG keep it interesting even to the end.

I just answered to fast. It should be the opposite (81-90%).
I happened to re-start the starting position is not as good as desired. but once started I try to keep on going up until I win / died.
Even happens to replay the game from the same starting position to better some move

Same as CdB - my poll response is the opposite of what's true.

I play most (90%+) to the end, but then I only have time for GOTM.

If I don't count the "games" I start as exercises, then the answer is close to 100%. I may not be detail-oriented, but I am obsessive. And having been born on an island, islands don't scare me. (They just prove to be my undoing, on deity.)

I voted 90% +. But really that is a skewed percentage, as over 90% of the games I play are GOTM or Tournament. I NEVER finish a game that I create myself: really no reason to.

Yeah, previous to playing the GOTM I had never finished a game. So my two GOTM entries are the only two games I have ever finished.

I would guess I usually finish about half the games I start. I usually restart if I get a terrible starting position on Deity or Emperor, but other than that I'll definitely play every game at least until the Industrial Age.

I've got an Emperor game going that I just can't seem to finish. I started off in the jungle and it's taken me to the Modern Age to get caught up. I own one giant contitent and Abe Lincoln has the other. We're both equal in tech but I'm about 6 turns away from ICBMs. A naval invasion would be impossible because we both have hundreds of mech infantry.

Every turn takes like 5 minutes now because he hits me with about 40 bombers and 60 battleships every single turn. This is why I hate playing deep into the modern age on big maps.

I want to finish this one just because Abe pissed me off and now it's personal...normally I would probably have given up by now. I'm still not even sure if I'm going to win, so that at least keeps it interesting.

I usually finish more than 90%, although I typically find the early stages more interesting than the latter. The early expansion and/or war aspect of the game is one of the most interesting and what I try to improve most upon.
