Fall from Divine Intervention I: Amurite Analogies

Thanks! I was getting a bit tense (btw sorry for spamming guys, I was a bit nervous, this is starting to feel like one of those NotW games...)

Danalin is dreaming.

He sees a woman, surounded by a crowd of yelling creatures, all wanting her to do what she wants

She seems confused

Suddenly, he starts to dream about the punishment the Overlords will give her shall she fail her task

A huge tidal wave hits an island, followed by a wave of undead creatures

And this is reflected somewhere in creation...

(Sorry, but I can't post the save right now, I'll have it in a bit though)

Story on how Mammon's palace came into being....

Spoiler :
--“So how far is my castle completed?—

“0%, my lord.”

Mammon frowned.

When the One banished the Angels from Heaven, Mammon returned to his own domain where his grand metropolis was already constructed, however, Mammon wanted to build an empire which would extend to other domains as well, and to do that he figured that he needed a palace.

So he tasked one of his demonic architects, one called Neviross, and some other dukes the construction of his palace. Of course, there were enough raw materials, Mammon had foreseen this and had stolen most of them from Heaven itself. He could create them himself if he had to, but that wasn’t fun.

With these raw materials, he expected Neviross to have no problem in building the palace, but now the demon said 0% as if he was not afraid of any retribution from Mammon whatsoever.

“Did I not give you enough manpower?”

“We have enough manpower, my lord.”

“Then what is the problem?”

Mammon seemed to be annoyed by the insolent outlook that Neviross seemed to be having. Neviross, who had always been one of Mammon’s most trusted advisors had a dangerous aura around him today. His cold, golden eyes showed that he was in an extremely bad humor today.

Few seconds later, Neviross turned his attention to the rowdy mess behind him. Hastur attacked Belius by thrusting his knee up Belius’s stomach, and Belius just smiled as if he enjoyed it. Kashimus stood dumbly as if he had no thought to himself. Leviata slept openly as if she wanted to be the next Sleeping Princess. Glustis yelled for food and Ashu’tar yawned as if this situation was boring.

Neviross stared at the mess, and slowly turned back to Mammon

“The problem is not with the manpower, it’s with who is supposed to be leading them.”

“Hmm? What is the problem with them?”

“Their existence is a problem my lord.”

Other dukes clamored that that Neviross was only trying to blame them, but Neviross’s glare silenced them. His gaze was so murderous that even Hastur, Mammon’s Archangel felt fear. Neviross glared at them as if trying to tear them apart, and turned his eyes back to Mammon.

“As you can see, they are not normal.”

“……”

“the roll-call include Perverted Freak (Hastur), Sex-crazed idots(Ash’tar, Belius), a girl suffering from high case of delusion (Leviata), and Mr. NO Manner Whatsoever (Kashimus), of course they are not normal.”

Mammon chuckled and slowly responded.

“Did you expect them to be normal?” he asked.

“……..”

Neviross was bewildered, wasn’t the cause of this problem because of those idiots? He could not understand why Mammon would say ‘Did you expect them to be normal’ after that. Mammon patted Neviross’s head and whispered…

“Just beat them up.”

“……”

“Only medicines for mad dogs are the stick, and nothing beats a good beating”

“…….”

“Come on, I allow it.”

Neviross and other dukes stared dumbly at their lord, but Mammon smiled as if he was a demon with a new toy. Mammon was always the strongest, in other ways than might.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spoiler :
“A Palace?” Neviross recoiled in surprise and Mammon simply laughed as if he was a boy.” Neviross always had a new feeling for his lord whenever he met him, one day, he would have a composure fitting of a lord, another day he would be like an uncorrupted boy, and sometimes he would be like a little demon that he was right now. Sometimes, Neviross couldn’t help but think that his lord was trying to eat him too,

“Where is this place?” Mammon suddenly asked.

“It is your domain my lord.”

“Who rules here?”

“You, my lord.”

“Yes, this is where we live now… Now what does a nation need?”

“A citadel, to protect the lord and his servants.”

“Good! Excellent Answer!” Mammon roared into laughter.

Neviross lowered his head. What was lacking in this world was not a good leader, Great People, nor its denizens, but a citadel, and normal citadel was not enough. To hold all of Mammon’s servants, it had to be of gargantuan size.

They had enough materials to build the castle, Mammon had spirited away most of Heaven’s resources before coming here.

So there was no problem building the castle, I had built castles even when I was in Heaven, but what we were building was no ordinary castle, it had to withstand the punishment of the most powerful magic without sustaining much damage, it might also be the symbol of this world, so hurrying it was not an option.

“Excellent! You seem to know everything!”

Neviross quickly raised his head and shook off his other thoughts.

“So this castle… I..”

“Yes, you always had that talent.”

“Thank you my lord.”

Mammon smiled in satisfaction. Few seconds later, he seemed to drop into a deep thought and asked…

“You have enough manpower, don’t you?”
“I cannot say enough, but I should have no problem building a castle.”

“Excellent, you shall use the other 6 dukes to help you with building.”

Neviross was startled, it was almost a law in Mammon’s domain that dukes don’t really get involved in anything. When there was an army of invaders, some demons took care of it. Most of the work done in this realm was by lesser demons, but Mammon’s command that I shall collaborate with other dukes was a surprise.”

And most of all, the other dukes Hated working whatsoever and most of them had some weird nicknames such as Delusional, Pornography mass collector, Psycho… etc that using them to build a castle was synonymous with saying “Let’s just live without that frigging castle.”

“bu..but the other dukes are…”

…Too lazy. I think I will rather build the castle by myself… Before I could say this, Mammon interrupted.

“I give you all authority on this matter, for any disobedient dukes, Tell on Me Immediately, and without Mercy.

“……………….”

“Nothing beats a sound beating.”

“……………………………….”

“That’s . an . Order.”

Mammon probably expected me to say something like ‘they are suffering from terminal case of lazyness,’ so he expressed that it was an ‘Order” before I could reply to anything. I knew that going against him was crazy, so I just obeyed him….

“,,,,,That’s the story, Just listen to me you whoresons…”

I faced an obstacle even before the castle was in the drawing board state.

The manpower I could organize was enough, so manpower was not a problem.

In fact, there were many volunteers from the demons so there was extra manpower available.

The problem, however, was with the blue-print. The workers were all assigned to a task, so that would not be too hard, but the problem was the blue-print. To list the objective for the build, there are…

1. The castle must be immune to corrosion.

2. The castle must be elegant, it would be the mascot of this world and must be built as beautiful as possible.

3. It must not fall with any attack whatsoever.

4. It can be any size, but demons, Mammon, and the dukes must be able to lead a comfortable life style within the castle (Just make it Big)

5. To help ward off intruders, there must be many traps within the castle, including at least 5 secret passages.

This may look simple, but even if I love architecture, this gigantic, monstrous castle left me with no place to start in the blue-print. And as for making the exterior as elegant as possible, that standard of elegance was a bit… obscure. So I was forced to find a standard in which all demons in hell could look at the castle and say that it was ‘beautiful, this IS Mammon’s hell!’

As for avoiding Corrosion, this meant that there had to be an army of magicians enchanting every single piece of brick that comes out of the oven, or use an extremely large amount of mana to enchant the whole castle after it was created. Now he said to add secret passages, this was no longer a castle… it was a weapon. I was briefly wondering if Mammon would ask to add cannons to the walls when he approached me and said something that increased my stress 100fold.

“….Glide it.”

“………….Sir?”

“I said glide it, so that it shiny.”

“…….”

“It would make us look rich.”

“Sir?”

“If we looked poor, I can’t face those damn angels.”
… It was this. Just so that he would not look poor, Mammon decreed that the outermost layer of the castle had to be made in gold. I actually wanted to just do a thin coating, but I knew that Mammon would disintegrate me if I did that, so I just complied. I really don’t get Mammon’s style… not that I want to learn it either. Back to the point, the blue-print was crucial to the construction. It also had to be extremely scientific, and accepted by the dukes and Mammon.]

“Yeah, Yeah, I know, just produce a blue-print, right?”

Hastur, who was said to be at least a bit brighter than the rest of the other dukes, replied, and I nodded. Hastur then groaned and said…

“…and he wanted us all 7 dukes to build it.”

“Well I don’t expect to collaborate; I just want all of you to make a blue-print.”

Hastur who seemed to have understood gave a brief nod and the dukes sitting at the meeting place, which was just a tall tower with a room at the top and a large wooden table at the middle, nodded.

I was actually quite surprised when the dukes complied without any complaints, but I was not about to pursue that. I showed them the citadel’s specifications, and told them they had a week.

I did not know that, week later, I would be crying with blood mixed in 50% with water.

Final Episode coming soon!

Based on Fnri2000's Astaroth stories

"Valledia, you know very well that excuses do nothing for the likes of me. Gods and angels care only for Obedience. I have been reasonable, more than most of the others that have come to you, yet you bid me this answer? It is audacious and childish of you.

If you hope to wield the forces of the arcane sooner rather than later, you had better do my bidding. Already, I have punished you, and it is enough for now. But what I require is small and what I offer can be colossal - so you had best think twice about your next choices."

For Korias (if he did not already notice from some gods refusing to spoilertag):
A raw mana ressource in your territory has been turned into a metamagic mana ressource - you will need Sorcery to utilize/dispel the node. I intend to completely remove the node if you do not have Knowledge of the Ether by the end of the next turnset.

Junil was saddened to hear that Valledia had not yet defeated the accursed barbarians to the south. Worse, now they had been joined by troops loyal to Aeron!

He left his tower for one of the lesser angels' residences, trying to find a few angels without orders on their hands who he could send to Erebus to get the job done properly.

He found two of them playing a game which resembled chess, only with highly stylized pieces which resembled both sides in the Godswar. One of them made a move with a white piece that resembled a priest of Lugus, taking a piece which looked like a Balor. Judging from the position, the game had already been going on for quite some time and the two angels playing were probably on leave.

"Phanal! Vaelas!" The angels rose, and turned towards Junil. "It seems our desecrators are being taken under the patronage of another, and have sought protection by calling upon the forces of Aeron! And unfortunately, Valledia has not yet heeded our words to root them out, and now she lacks the strength to defeat them. Will you two head down to Erebus to try and convince Valledia to defeat the barbarians?"

Both angels kneeled before Junil. "Yes, sire. We will do as you have commanded. We will offer Valledia the choice once again, and if she wishes we will purge out the rot that those barbarians are. We will either do our duty under Amurite flag, or return to you as soon as possible." Quickly as usual (or maybe even eager to fight evil) the angels took flight, left Junil's heaven and headed to Cevedes.

The two of them found Valledia in the palace. As soon as they were granted their request to speak with Valledia, the two angels spoke as one. "We are Phanal and Vaelas, two angels loyal to Junil to aid you in your pacifying of the barbarians and bringing law to those lands that have none. Junil would have preferred to see the barbarian fortress fall already, but we understand that other tasks have been on your mind. Unfortunately, word has reached us that the barbarians have in fact increased their forces - by having men loyal to Aeron join them!

We are sent to bring law and fight those who either have none, or follow whatever twisted design Aeron has in mind. While we will serve you for 50 years (and 50 years ONLY!) we will report to Junil of our deeds and whether we have accomplished our objective. During those 50 years we will answer to you only, but even an orc could understand that Junil would be very displeased if our considerable skills in battle were to be employed against... say, the Ljosalfar."

With those words, the two angels knelt before Valledia, offering their swords to her. "We are now yours to command. Choose wisely."

Quest:

Spoiler :
Use the two angels to conquer the barbarian cities towards the south.

Not for Korias:

Spoiler :
Gave two high CR angels to Valledia to take the barbarian cities. Putting an archer in the hilled city of Nininsnal made my quest impossible to complete quickly, and as such I needed to make the quest possible to complete again.

Yes, I know it is stretching rule 7 and 9. The two angels will be gone next set, however. (one way or another, they are not invincible ;) )

Also, I aided Decius by giving him better land and a gold mine nearby.

As Nariac and Aethen traveled north, Bhall's hold of Nariac grew stronger. Soon she would be able to speak through him.

A glow revealed their destination long before they could see it. Standing on a hill, surrounded by arctic seas, cold wind blowing against their skin the man and the elf could see the Ring of Carcer. So could Bhall, through Nariac's eyes. Brigit, she thought, I have found you. At that moment Bhall wanted to make Nariac truly his own, but her champion-to-be had fallen ill and manifesting her power in him could have broken his body. She could not risk losing this important human at a time like this. As much as she hated the thought, she would have to wait. And someone would have to keep a watchful eye on Brigit... Nariac would have to make a request once he got back.

On their journey back, Aethen could swear Nariac looked a little different every day.

In the meanwhile, let Valledia and her people enjoy the heat of summer...

Spoiler tasks :
Bring Nariac back to the capital and let him rest. Send at least one military unit to stand guard near the Ring of Carcer. Later, when you have construction, build a fort. Your surroundings have been improved.

Spoiler not for mortal eyes :
Created fire mana north of the lake. Gave Nariac Mutated, Divine and Potency. Changed jungle within one square of Amurite borders to forest. Gave Sheelba two archers. Brugarin's stuff concerning Nariac delayed my plans a bit, but that's actually just good, adds a little spice to the story I'm trying to get told here :)

(Continuation of Previous post)

Valledia was enjoying the heat of summer a little bit north of the city, when suddenly a out of breath guard ran up to her.
"Valledia, the so called other 'Amurites' have sent us an envoy, declaring theye had been hit by a giant tidal wave!"

"Yes, so what? They probably deserved it for claiming that they werer the real Amurites."

"I know that, but they claimed the only nation with enough knowledge of magic to cause this was us, and have declared war, what shall we do?"

Valledia pondered this for a moment, then replied:

"We'll crush them of course"

Spoiler Changes for Korias :
War is declared on the other Amurites

Spoiler Not for Korias :
The other Amurite island has any of its tiles turned to coast, four drowns and a cultist appear a little east of the island. Oh, and why are there lions walking around in the middle of the ocean?

Spoiler Gods :
Not for you, Korias
Spoiler :
Yeah, what's up with the lions in the middle of the ocean? They killed my Danath and ruined my quest. Wasn't expecting that. Something to do with patch y, perhaps?

Spoiler For my comrades only :
Spoiler And that means no mortals! :
The waterwalking lions are from mine. I planned to drop some unusual creatures around erebus every my turn and give Korias small reward for each captured. I'M really sorry that they eaten your acolyte I completely forget about his vulnerability to them. My plan was to put them near Maelstrom to eventually spread them around map. I will think more about the next ones. Sorry guys. My bad.

I should post my changes in next two hours.

For Gods only

Spoiler :
and not for you Korias, just read the darn story I posted above about the castle and don't read this.
Spoiler :
I almost deleted the lion when I first noticed it because I thought that it was a bug. SPOILER]

P.S. I think the Compact is completely out the window now :)

Spoiler Gods :
Oh, that explains it then. It's OK Algeroth, next time I'll just have to account for all the random crazyness that may potentially be caused by other Gods while setting up a quest :D

This story is awesome!

Is flavour going to go out the window as well?

*Danalin decides to wake up, personally enter creation, and then turn every tile thats not a city to water*

Or this...

A reporter: "Mammon just entered Creation and enslaved every living creature on Erebus. He also used the Godslayer as toothpick, and ordered Kylorin to be made into a Soup. He claims that it tasted like chocolete, and is saving some for Bhall at Valentine's day. :crazyeye:

Now time to write the ending for the story I was working on...
