Meanwhile my one warrior has managed to loot some gold from a graveyard, but another is likely to meet his demise as I think he has spawned a giant spider (although I cannot see it, it was heavily hinted. I think they are hidden)

Yes, Spiders can not be seen by warriors... but not to worry... you will find out next turn as the spider will likely attack you!

Maybe you are lucky and it is a "baby" spider?

I think you need hunters to be able to see spiders.

You need any recon unit (briefly; scouts, hunters, rangers, assassins, beastmasters, or any equivalent unit).

Baby spiders - unless preplaced - will only appear after a Giant Spider makes a kill, they don't spawn naturally.

It's really a shame. I actually saw where you were centuries ago thanks to a goodie hut that revealed your capital to me with a map. I had grand plans to warrior rush you after using my elven veil so you thought it was a crazy barb stack coming at you and freaked out publicly while I laughed in the darkness... 'tis a shame, really, all the entertainment value now gone because you decided to scout

(BTW, it would have been immediately obvious that the stack was you for two reasons - firstly, Elven barbarians aren't a thing, and only appear as a result of Veil of Night (and worldspells are revealed publically as having been cast), and secondly because if you hadn't previously made contact he would have met you upon seeing said warriors, making it easy to discern whose they were.)

I may have killed an AI caused barb axes and assassins to spawn 5 tiles from their borders.

Although now my scout and warrior have perished to exploring activities...

Means the associated Unique Improvement is in the game, and has not been explored.

And what good is the veil of the night if everyone knows who it is???

Exactly, it's all-but-useless (it can, of course, be used to circumvent peace treaties and so on, so all-but) in MP. Always useful to remember that, at least historically, over 90% of civ (and FFH) are played in SP.

An update

doing some posting/emailing tonight in preparation of Retiring from gaming. I do not want to quit "Cold Turkey" because of withdrawals so I'd like to leave this one as one of the last games I'd quit

so If I/we can find a temporary replacement for a few months until I have eye surgery (that is if it comes to that) and I am healed or not, time will tell.

Ah come on, where's the fun in that? Also who knows if Eclipse isn't feeling better in a year and wants to return to this game? If you join I promise I won't bash Realms Beyond as much as I used to!

Well if you're fine with it, I can replace.

To be entirely clear, when I say spoilt I meanspoilt. As in, I've played a SP game on an earlier version of this map to the late game, and critiqued it to Bob. It's changed since, but in small, minimal ways. I'd try to avoid using that knowledge, obviously, but its hard to turn it off completely.

@Qqqqqqq yes please if you can temporarily replace me until I am certain I cannot continue gaming. An Irredotamy last year was supposed to correct my eye pressure, I mean what if my job was computer related? May1 is my next followup and will find out then if I need further procedures. The game is new as you well know so updating you what I was doing will be obvious and any direction you take will be totally OK with me. Thank you
