"Fall Patch" announced

I've always enjoyed playing the game immediately and experiencing each patchs' changes. For example, when vanilla (unpatched) came out, the horseman rush was the best early wartime strategy. Somewhere after that it was balanced, then swordsman the strong answer, then range became a necessity.

(yeah there are always early bugs to deal with, but as long as they aren't causing the game to be physically unplayable, I can handle them).

I am looking forward to this patch very much.
 
Always best to wait at least 3 months ( I waited 2 years for Civ5) for all the bugs to be ironed out and any extra DLCs to be part of the whole package. these days, with Steam, you can`t take back the game or even give it away if you don`t like it.

Took the same approach. Gaming is a (welcome) interruption to my normal routine. This means I don't need to have it right away. Do miss out on the early discovery phase on the forums, but if you time the purchase with an expansion you can get in on that action.
 
XCOM has a patch out already. And yet we are still waiting.

That isn't a fair comparison. Lets look at those notes:

Mouse button 4/5 will switch soldiers in the Barracks
ESC hides the movement grid, if you do not want to commit to a move while it is activated
Squad Sight ability optimization
Fixed issue when equipping two grenades with Deep Pockets.
Fixed Rapid Fire sometimes consuming too much ammo.
SHIVs that are damaged will no longer become unusable.
Fixed some hangs/soft crashes in tactical combat.
Replaced software cursor with the operating system cursor to reduce lag and framerate dependence.
Fixed rendering bug which causes some soldier’s hair to appear as if it is rendering on top of environment fog.
1080p movies are now used at all times on the PC.


This is the game's first patch. The one that fixes game breaking bugs. Count how many of the items have the word "fixed" or "optimized" in them. CiV has been out for 2 years, it's patches aren't in any hurry.
 
Am I the only one who is dissapointed that the "ghost units" aren't fixed?

the game doesn't display graphics of enemy units. Game losing bug, especially on higher difficulties.

I agree. I'm very upset this still hasn't been fixed. this bug has been around forever now.
 
I find it hard to fathom why the scrolling screen bug has not been fixed in two years on a landmark product like this.

Weird.
I believe that it was only introduced with G&K.
And its on the patch list:
Fix auto-scrolling between turns. If a user was scrolling when a turn ended, or when combat ended, it would occasionally get “stuck” and continue scrolling.
 
Bet it will be released a few days before my exam... (which is on 26 oct)...
If it is, I'll cite that as the main reason for failing. (the patch, not my weakness for civ)

Reduced espionage notification spam. Will only be notified of election and coup activities if you have met them and (have a spy in the city or are friends with them or have a relationship with them that is above the resting point.)

I think this may be a bad idea. If I'm at war with a Civ (therefore at war with his CS Allies) I would like to know if someone initiated a coup with one of his allies so I can make peace with that CS right away.
 
Unless I missed it , they don t plan on fixing military castle .....that truly sucks!
The game were I noticed the bug , I lost 20+ culture pt !!!!! I mean come on , even if you know about the bug , you just lose the happy and culture bonus on your cities that spamm units unless you want to hard micro every cities , get a unit out one turn before getting the new unit (and still losing ponctual 2 culture ) , knowing that if you forget to do so , the penalty is 2 culture per turn gone for the whole game ...how can this not be in the patch ???
if they were doing like LOL , namely one small patch every two weeks , I d understand , but apparently they tend to have one patch every 6 months or so .... 6 month of not playing vast empire dominations ...
