Diety!
eek.gif
Great! My second diety level game ever will be played in public! My first was to get one under my belt before playing last month's GOTM. I never was able to get to the GOTM, but I did survive my practice game to retire in 2020. I had horrible terrain for a starting location, and never ended up with many cities. Now that I think about it, I could have done much better with more expansion. I'm ready for this! Bring it on!

kittenOFchaos would like to play (it will be quick? I will be leaving for spain in 2-3 weeks)

my e-mail is kittenOFchaos@hotmail.com

I can handle diety fine

Don't worry Alanna.

I've never won a game on Diety before.....or Emperor.....or King for that matter. So your not alone.

kittenOFchaos:
It will go fairly fast. If you have to skipp a few turns because your gone, it's ok. Just post when you will be leaving and when you will be getting back. We will continue until you return. And then your back in!!

I regularly play on King level and rarely lose. More often, I get bored at the end from managing so many cities. I don't end up with really high scores, but maybe I won't embarrass myself playing Deity. Between us all, we should be able to at least get a SS to AC, even if we can't crush the entire world!

I've been lurking here for a few months and it seems this should be a lot of fun so I'm in (if I'm not too late). I'll have plenty of time to play in the coming weeks except for about one week in the first half of July. I always play on deity and I never lose, except for those rare cases when experimental new strategies do not result in world domination.

Well....I'd tell you....but then I'd have to kill you.

But since your interested.....I'll put you in for player 6. Basically everyone must have Gold edition. What happens is that each person plays a few turns and then saves it and passes it to the next player. We continue this until the game is either won or lost. (Although no team has ever lost (I think))

Since Cornmaster is unfortunately unable to continue I am reposting the list. If you could all send me a copy off the save game at the same time you pass it on to the next player it will make it easier to keep the game flowing. Good luck everyone.

I just learned that I don't have the juice to attach files to my posts, so I emailed the save file to Belisarius. I had a fairly uneventful turn. Here's the rundown:

3750 Inherited 1 city, 1 Warrior, 1 Settler, and 1 Archer from the tragically short reign of CornMaster.

3700 City of Synchronicity founded near some whales and some coal to fuel our future industry. (I happened to be blasting Synchronicity on the stereo at the time)
avatar.gif

3600 Our Wise Men discover Ceremonial Burial and start researching an Alphabet.

3300 The Alphabet research project yeilds great results, so I directed the Wise Men to start on Msyticism. Code of Laws was not available, so I figured any step closer to Monotheism and Mike's chapel was a good one.

3050 The city of CivFanatics.com completed building Settlers. I thought they could build another Settler before starting on a Temple, but that's up to Belisarius, since my mission is complete, for now...

Some random notes:
Our Archer has explored some good city sites and appears to be approaching the South Pole. The Top 5 Cities display shows that we are sharing our world (for now
wink.gif
) with the Zulu, Mongol, Roman, and Persian civilizations. I don't know if 6 civs in the game settings includes our Glorious CivFanatics or not, but there is at least one other civilization out there, waiting to be discovered.

Yeah Alanna, only Administrators and Moderators can attach files to their posts....sorry.

I had to get out of this game because the new GOTM is coming up and I have an awesome King game going. (I've never won at King before) I'm playing on a map thats 25 x 100. I was agressive at the start and got some good city spots next to the Mongols. Although they destroyed one of them I was able to rebuild and hold them back. Then I expanded to near-by islands, and started building a colony WAY south, in between the babyloanians, carthagans, russians, and germans. That's going to be a hot spot.
wink.gif
AND I've gotted Steam Engine and almost got Railroad!!!! Yeah doesn't seem like much, but I usually start my rampage to take over the world when I get knights, so getting that far in tech is RARE for me!!! I decided to take this one the distance and kill the enemies with modern weapons. So...it's a change for me. I've played Civ 2 for 6 years now and have built 1 spaceship and found in modern times like 5 times (excluding my modern time scenarios).

Here is my tale of Good and Evil.

3000BC Archer continues exploring Antartic. Settler heads towards river. Herodotus proclaims us as largest civ in world with our 2 cities!! Oh Happy Days.

2950BC Settler continuses to explore upriver. Synchronicity completes Settler which heads east.

2900BC Everyone continues heading east.

2850BC Both Settlers see huts. How lucky do we feel?

2800BC Not very, so one Settler builds city of Cornmaster next to first hut in memorium to our dearly departed founder while the other explores river beside second hut.

2750BC Discover Mysticism. Research Code of Laws. Build city of Newcastle between coal and fish. Synchronicity completes warrior.

2700BC Archer spots third hut.

2650BC Archer finds wandering nomads in hut. They explore east and find a mountain of gold.

2600BC Near Newcastle a Persian ambassador arrives from Empress Scheherezade. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/queen-mamma.gif" border=0> Swap Mysticism for The Wheel and then Alphabet for Horseback Riding. Make peace.

2550BC Who said never trust a pretty face.
<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/mad.gif" border=0>
Persians surprise attack ungarrisoned Newcastle and destroy it gaining Masonry. New warrior from Cornmaster enter hut and finds Map Making. Build city of Klondyke in South between gold mountain and fish.

2500BC It was a big mistake to not enter hut near the former Newcastle as Persions enter and gain Chariot. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/spanking.gif" border=0> Persian Chariot approaches city of Cornmaster.

2450BC Persians offer peace and we accept as our Chariots not ready yet.

2400BC Check demographics and we are still number one. Persian capital Perseopolis is only size 2. Plan revenge.

2350BC Rush build Chariot in CivFanatic.com.

2300BC Persian Chariot is near CivFanatic.com so we insist it is withdrawn. It goes.

2250BC Complete Chariot in Synchronicity. A third Chariot is being built in Cornmaster.

We are currently at peace with the Persians but if we complete our 3rd Chariot we should be able to take Perseopolis when we find it. I don't think we can share this continent as sooner or later we will have to fight the Persians again. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/flamethrower.gif" border=0>

Game passed to kittenOFchaos

Empire of the kittenOFchaos minion Chaosikat...kitten to his friends

The empire of the civfanatics favoured pyramids... <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/king-tut.gif" border=0> and now kittenOFchaos is upon the pinacle of POWER in civfanatic land.

He decided upon a tour of the lands before making any judgements after seeing the foreign minister to look for friends and foes -rather like offtopic! <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/nya2.gif" border=0>

The new leader torn down the mini-pyramid of the previous ruler -who died in poverty- as he left no money in the treasury for the kitten to start work on ANYTHING! The kitten suspected that the previous ruler had put all the nations wealth into:

1. a pyramid to be buried in <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/supersaiyan.gif" border=0>
2. chariots <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/hammer.gif" border=0>

The next technology is promised in 19 turns...otherwise know as it will be done after your death o'great kitten 'of the Pyramids'.

Looking south the kitten discovers Klondyke...a most pointless city and on which will be deprived of food more likely than not!

2250 B.C. (0) kitten takes power...job to do is end turn and start my rule...b4 that I get settlers building and maximise production! In addition the kitten gets a meeting with the Persians, only to achieve nothing as they talked in a foreign language to the kitten.

2200 B.C. (1) the kitten sees his treasury leap to 2 gold pieces and he places them carefully under his pillow (worth 1 gold piece).

The kitten continues the explorations of the southern icelands with his archer unit heading east...nothing more than ice and water found!

The chariots of the kitten encirle by accident the persian city of Pasargadae...this could be problemmatic if the Persians sneak attack! The kitten tries to sell the palace he lives in as it is too drafty, no purchasers are found...grr

2150 B.C. (2) the kitten is told to leave the lands around Pasargadae...too gladly the kitten agrees...this city is too poor are yet to be worth taking!

The kitten fails to leave the land around Pasargadae...war is predicted by men with longer beards than willies.

2100 B.C. (3) thinking of what the civfanatics would do to him if he lost the war the kitten relents and teleports his troops home!

The kitten curses the city of Klondyke as being too far from his palace so most of its trade is lost to corrupt gold diggers and mackrel shaggers!

2050 B.C. (4) the kitten is angered to find no money in the treasury and to find that his people consider him weak for withdrawing chariots in the face of the Persians...the kitten demands tribute from an increasingly annoyed Persian leader -25 gold pieces are forthcoming -thus weakening the persian and increasing our power!

Klondyke has a warrior unit now and it explores the icey peninsula...only to find it as utterly worthless and the rest of the pole <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/confused.gif" border=0>

My chariot in the east discovers that there are other people in the east in the high mountains and approach with care!

The kitten disbands half the milita in the city of civfanatics...to send off as a settler unit...to bribe more people to leave he gives them GOLD! An entertainer is needed for a short period...thus unemployment is solved in the city of Civfanatics.

2000 B.C. (5) klondyke starts to build a trireme...the city is pointless, but it produces many fishermen who would make excellent sailors!

The mountain peoples are skilled horsemen and they join the empire as they here we know where there is the best booty!

The kitten completes the rush collection of people and equipment using his gold in the city of civfanatics AND thus puts everyone else to work at sea to do trade and fishing and thus boost the treasury and to boost learning or those code of laws.

1950 B.C. (6) the kitten stops sending food to the pointless archer in the polar region...the archers die...the kitten is now feared for his ruthless nature!

The message is clear...find me huts or die! Wisemen are researching monarchy to bring the kitten greater power. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/king.gif" border=0>

1900 B.C. (7) The kitten is told about the laws...and these apply to him too, meaning that he can't just kill archers in the polar regions by denying them resources as that is MURDER -this could mean life for Klondyke.

The settlers of civfanatics are tricked into building some roads whilst the new lands are explored...my chariots exploring are in desperate search of huts...whilst being chased by the persians!

Shock! The city of Cornmaster with no help gets together some settlers, the kitten is pleased...and more roads are built!

The kitten suggests an alliance with the Persians...and a marriage with the saucy belly dancer...the Persians make excuses about needing to wash their collective hair.

1850 B.C. (8) A general lack of huts causing the kitten to cry...give me gold or give me death!

lots of horsemen commisioned to look for huts and to become in the future cavalry!

Plus people have the first road to the middle of a grasslands!

1800 B.C. (9) Lands in the east are fertile plains with wheat...in the west the sea is found and the chariots are taken up a pointless mountain...

1750 B.C. (10) The kitten discovers perisans in the east eating the wheat and irrigating the lands! enraged at there superior lands the kitten whips his harem.

The kitten uses gold to get together some chariots in civfantics.com!

1700 B.C. (11) The kitten discovers the persians in the east to have their capital based there...it is larger than any civfantic city and is better developed...fearful of a kitten invasion the persian chariots try to outflank me...but fail.

1650 B.C. (12) rioting in synchronisity...for no reason! entertainers employed to give jobs to those with humourous disabilities!

Cornmaster and Civfanatics.com linked by road...now troopers can move quickly between the two...trade increases and corruption in cornmaster decreases...in addition it measn my settlers can head off to settle new lands.

1600 B.C. (13) chariots discover that civfanatics.com was a poorly chosen site...a little southwest would have been so much better -still no buyer found for palace.

settlers sent forth!

1550 B.C. (14) settlers got together in synchronicity...in addition another chariot and horseman built...progress under the kitten is becoming rapid.

1500 B.C. (15) on his death bed after a long and successful life the kitten still wields power:

1. talks with high council...the science minister is pleased, everyone else is a little annoyed.
mwaha.gif

2. he sets out what he would like from his successor...

Civfanatic.com is building a trieme...there is a continent in the east that is worth exploring and we have the chariots/horsement to do so...we have no less than 3 settlers working on roads...these must move to build new cities...location (15,5)3 is where I'd like a city named after me -Chaosikat (i'll leave the cursor centered there).

The exploration is to the north and east (all persian)...triremes at civfanatics.com and klondyke needed as this continent is too small for us and the PErsians too strong at present (and no bloody huts)

Apart from that, the future is for those after me to decide...I have done the best that any civfanatic cou...eugh <death?> NO! the kitten gets up and trades technology with Persia and obtains Bronze working for map making! Phalanx are commisioned and the kitten meets his death getting run over a chariot on his new roads.

Income left: 7 gold...a infinite increase!
Population: 150,000 but plenty O'settlers and military.

Comments: I was amazed at how bad things appeared at first and how by turn 12 of my goes I started to love the empire we have.

Look after it and give me my chosen city...please.

PASSING GAME ON <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smokin.gif" border=0>

[This message has been edited by kittenOFchaos (edited June 27, 2001).]

Things are going fast at the start so I'm hoping to be able to play round 2 before going on a vacation on July 6 for a week. But this may be unlikely because the turns will soon start to take more time - more cities to micromanage and an inevitable war against the Persians sooner or later (probably sooner
biggrin.gif
).

A log:

A new leader, TheViking is in power. The first task: To realign the government's priorities to the bitter realities of the world in which we live (in plain language this means I disagree with some decisions of my predecessor, especially what some of the cities are building). The first turn reflects this:

1500 BC (0): Production in Synchronicity changed from phalanx to settler since the current Synchronicity settler will soon found a city. Expand, expand, expand ! The (soon to be) big empire should intimidate the Persians enough to prevent them from declaring war and taking advantage of Synchronicity's poor defense. They might even pay tribute. The new ruler also finds that the current government sucks. "I want to become a king ! Discover monarchy ASAP". CivFanatics.com ordered to utilize an ocean square for more trade, thus speeding up the science rate. The goal is to be ready for the 1050 BC Oedo year. Production in
CivFanatics.com changed to settler. The goal is to settle the continent. "This land is ours and you can't have it" (taking care the Persians do not hear this). All road building cancelled in favour of enlarging the empire.

Persians demand withdrawal of troops from Persepolis. OK since we've discovered a nice 'choke point' on a hill westnorthwest of Persepolis.

1450 BV (1):
angry.gif
Arrrgggghhh !! A Persian knight appears where kittenOFchaos wanted a city built. Looks like they've explored a bigger part of the continent than I thought. CivFanatics.com ordered to utilize even more ocean squares.

1400 BC (2): No trouble with the Persians, they've retreated from kittenOFchaos' city site. Chariot at (35,17) establishes a 'blockade'; we'll need a phalanx there ASAP (meaning a millenium or so from now).

1350 BC (3): Nothing to note.

1300 BC (4): City of Chaosikat founded at (15,5), defended by a chariot. Persian horseman near it, time to talk to Scheherezade. She *refuses* to withdraw her $%#*& troops so this time it's WAR
devil.gif
!! Persians punished for this, their horseman defeated by our chariot and a Persian warrior in the high north destroyed by one of our mighty horsemen. Looks like the north pole is just north of our continent.

1250 BC (5) A Persian chariot attacks our fortified "chariot on a hill" and dies. Start building coal mines near Synchronicity.

1200 BC (6) City of CivRules!! founded. The only inhabitant is unhappy. It is well known that some people refuse to believe it when a particularly famous person has died. However, this is the first reported case in history where people do not believe it when they are told that a particular, famous person has not yet been born (and will not be until more than 3000 years from now). So they start worshipping something called "Elvis P" and it really works ! They immediately become happy (but unproductive). Another Persian warrior destroyed and we get a veteran horse !! Persians still refuse to talk.

1150 BC (7) Monarchy discovered !! Arrgghhh...
angry.gif
not possible to research writing (=diplomat) and also nothing leading to polytheism (=elephants to destroy the Persians), monotheism. Start researching currency instead.

1100 BC (8): "This government SUX !! I want a revolution now !!". And times of chaos started...

1050 BC (9): ... but not for long as we're in monarchy now. Horseman ordered to climb a mountain east of Pasargadae. The Persians will probably need at least a catapult to kill him. Tax 30% (=6 gold), science 70% (=10 turns).

1000 BC (10): Cornmaster builds a phalanx. Persians try to kill our "chariot on a
hill" using a warrior but fail (hah hah hah !
lol.gif
). Time to send the new phalanx there.

975 BC (11): Nothing to report.

950 BC (12): Synchronicity builds settlers, ordered to build barracks in preparation for an all-out war agains the Persians. The "chariot on a hill" kills a Persian settler and becomes veteran but almost dies in the process. CivRules!! builds a warrior, ordered to build a settler.

925 BC (13): CivFanatics.com builds settlers.
eek.gif
Barbarians arrive from the sea south of our veteran chariot. The "chariot on a hill" is in pretty bad shape so it retreats from the barbarians. And great news - made peace with the Persians (this is no special news) and got 75 in tribute (this is the great news !!). Rushbuying something considered but decision left to my successor.

900 BC (14): Again demand tribute from the Persians, they refuse.

875 BC (15): Persians don't want to exchange knowledge. "We are the most enlightened empire in the world" according to our resident nerd so maybe the Persians have nothing to offer here.

By now, TheViking gets bored of this and decides on a rest. He seeks out some of the hottest babes of the empire and then runs away together with them to a remote, unknown corner of the world. "I'll be back - in the form of one of my descendants (and there will be a lot of them !)" is his final promise.

Some observations for my successor(s) but feel free to ignore them:

We're in monarchy now. The financial situation has improved dramatically, from 7 gold to a whopping 157 gold !! Two new cities have been built and more are on the way. We seem to be number 1 in science. I'm not too happy that we're only number 3 in population however. Judging from the hints the top 5 cities might give the Zulus and Mongols may become our main rivals in the future so the future doesn't look peaceful...

I don't think the Persians are a threat. If we get into war with them they'll probably waste lots of firepower attempting to kill the horseman next to Pasargadae.

A 'blockade' should be reestablished on the hill at (35,17) if possible once the chariot has healed and/or the barbarians are no longer a problem. This should be enforced by the phalanx that is heading there. This effectively splits the Persian empire in two. This should make Pasargadae easy to conquer or bribe (I wish we could build diplomats now) without danger of counterattack.

Synchronicity has become a great production city thanks to the presence of a coal mine. It could be used either to churn out veteran military units (once barracks are finished) or to build wonders.

Chaosikat will soon build a trireme and there is a settler nearby.

There are some nice candidate city sites west/southwest of CivRules!! and east/southeast of Synchronicity; some settlers are heading there.

Passing the game on to xeven_god_of_helsibahr - good luck !

TheViking
