Favorite Unit of All Time

I know people have probably posted something along these lines, but I still would like some feed back.

I would have to rate my all time units as follows

1. Modern Armor(Panzer if I am Bismark)
2. Maceman
3. Battleships
4. Fighters
5. Mech Infantry

Those are my top five. so what do everything think?

My all time favorite unit is the Immortal from CIV III. I was very dissapointed in the CIV IV version.

All of your units are way too advanced in tech. My top ten would probably include 10 units before cavalry.

The Axeman. Saved my ass many times. Modern Armor comes at a time where your homecities aren't in danger of being conquered. At least your core cities aren't. So they are a powerful way to attack and conquer enemy cities and territory, but to me never a life-saver. While the axemen have saved my cities on numerous occasions like an early attack or sometimes even strong barbarians. You can also use them to conquer enemy cities, especially if you give them the +city attack promotions.

I hated when the battleship (attack 24) attacked a militia (defense 1) and lost. Happened way too often.

I prefer the Civ 1 chariot and catapult.

right now I have two units that I just love. they happen to both be uu's. For early conquest I am loving the roman preatorians and when I am america the navy seals are just really cool.

Are we on the topic favo unit in CIV IV again? Good! Then I just want to say that my fav is still the Axeman. It is cheap, strong, and powerful (especially vs barbarians, the annoying little pests even kill me on noble level )

I guess I gotta vote for the partisans from civ2.. just because that game mechanic was just SO cool and I really miss it.

Wow, axemen are beating out macemen. I know axemen come first and can be more useful but I get macemen before the AI gets longbowmen more often than not and they're devistating.

Favorite civ IV unit has got to be the Gunship. Awesome tank-killing ability!
Favorite civ unit of all time is too hard to choose so I have a 1st place tie between the civ 1 battleship and the civ 2 armor.

Axemen are my favorite because they are so good on defense. They beat archers, swordsmen, horsemen and other axemen when they are fortified in a city or on a hill.

Until longbow and macemen come, the axemen is the king of defense for me. And they aren't bad on offense either, though I'd prefer horsemen usually.

Most important two units = worker and settler. Therefore the best all time unit is the Civ1 settler, it was both in one!!!

I was a big fan of the Sipahi unit, the Ottman's version of Cavalry from Civ 3. Strong, and with fancy double pistol action.

I am excluding settlers and worker because there is no game without them.

1. Praetorian
2. Modern Armour
3. Stealth Bomber
4. Spy
5. Cavalry

Praetorians = Death to my nearest neighbour
Modern Armour = Strongest unit
Stealth = Long range artillery
Spy = Who is doing what???
Cavalry = Death to my second nearest neighbour

Other favouites include

1. Mech Infantry
2. Battleship
3. Transport
4. Missionaries
5. Scout

Units I dislike

1. Ironclad
2. Caravel
3. Warrior
4. Nukes
5. Anything that does not carry my flag

1.Horse archer, versitale and annoying to the enemy
2.Swordsman, for raw power
3.Spy, interesting
4.Longbowmen, cause you ain't capturing my cities even in a million years...
5.Fishing boat

Considering all parts of civ, i'd pick

1.Civ3 cavalry, best conquests of mine was with cavalry
2.Civ2 archers, cause they were cheap and good
3.Civ2 partisan, because indeed it was the coolest idea ever
4.Civ2 dragoon, the one with tall hat and sabre
5.Civ2 spy

After a million years, most people have modern armors... they can kill longbowmen by looking at them, saying "booh", and let their fear do the rest
