Hali-town,
Was watching Platoon last night, and starting thinking about what vietnam movie I liked best....I think so far, it's Dead Presidents (even though only about 1/2 of it is in vietnam....)

what about youse?!

(BTW, I'll appologize right now for the dozens I'll probably miss in the poll...)

EDIT: DANG! Put in Dead Presidents twice....my bad, folks, my bad...

No Full Metal Jacket?

Or M*A*S*H? (I know it was set in Korea, but come on, it's a clear parody of 'Nam)

That was going to be the one I was going to put instead of the second DPs.

But I forgot about the Deer Hunter as well...

there's too damn many, just write in your own!

Thats the worst list of Nam movies ever.

Jacobs ladders dosent even belong on that list.
Far as I remember (long time ago I saw that one) no part of the movie was the guy in vietnam. Yes I know they gave him the drugs back when he was there, but that was all there was.

And no Full Metal Jacket? shame on you! :gripe:

EDIT: You also forgot Hamburger Hill.

I would have to choose... Forest Gump.

Apocalypse Now. It's very interesting seeing various symbolism and the overall descent into barbarism and insanity.

Full Metal Jacket

Wow, I really missed the big one, huh!

Sorry again for no FMJ: as I stated above, I meant to put it on, but I ended up with two dead presidents instead.

'We Were Soldiers' has to be the best Vietnam flick ever. I even got to meet MAJ Bruce Crandall in person once.

Honorable Mention: 'Full Metal Jacket'.

I am with MB, here. "We Were Soldiers", although knee-deep in religious BS, was clearly the best Vietnam movie ever.

Right now I'd say "We were Soldiers", but past favs are "Platoon" and "Apocalypse Now". I can also recall liking "Casualties of War". I can't remember just how good it was but I enjoyed seeing Michael J. Fox play Sean Penn's conscience. :D

1. Full Metal Jacket
2. Platoon
3. Apocalypse Now. (btw Apoc. N was a rewrite of a Joseph Conrad's (englishman/scot) novel about the european imperial escapades in the African Congo.
