What's your favourite quote from Rome Total war? I mean those quotes you see on the loading screen when you switch from battle screen and strategy screen.

My favourite goes like this IIRC: It is pleasent, when the seas are high and the wind is dashing the waves about, to go to the shores and watch the struggles of another. LOL so true and after all these years still applicable

I don't know if other total war games have quotes, but if they have feel free to post them.

"War is sweet to those who have never experienced it" - Pindar

"Far better it is to have a stout heart always and suffer one's share of evils, than to ever be fearing what may happen." -Herodotus

I'd have to play it again to remember, and can we extend it to M2TW?

Of course, the only reason I said Rome quotes was because that's the only Total war version I have and I wasn't sure the other ones have quotes.

Another one I like is: "A collision at sea can ruin your entire day."

"An ambuscade, if discovered and promptly surrounded, will repay the intended mischief with interest." I just like the idea of referring to, shall we say, "killin ur doods" as "mischief".

(And, yeah, I had to look up the exact wording on Wikiquote... Saved a very clumsy paraphrase...)

"Courage can be taught to men as a child can be taught to read."
Remember thats a quote but don't remember who it was

Money is the sinews of war - Niccolo Machiavelli

The folks at Creative Labs must like this one, because I've seen it in R:TW as well as M2:TW

It was written centuries ago in some Latin/Italian/French/German hybrid (more like bastard child) language, so my version is probably as good as yours :) However, you probably have the one from the game, since I pulled it from memory.

"Latin/Italian/French/German hybrid"? Why on earth would Machiavelli be speaking either French or German? The Prince, which I assume is the text you are referencing, was, as with most of Machiavelli's work, written in Renaissance Italian.
Besides, the phrase was written by Cicero, the statesman, political theorist and philosopher, in Classical Latin. It has been translated in various forms, the usual, which appears in the game, being "the sinews of war are infinite money".

From R:TW with the RTR mod (I think it modified the quotes):

Go and tell the Spartans, stranger passing by,
That here, obedient to their laws, dead we lie

Simonides of Ceos (epitaph on the monument at Thermopylae)

and

You conquered all but a woman
Phrase inscribed on the sarcophagus of Nicephorus Phocas

mater timidi no flet
the mother of coward doesn't tear- latin said

RTR has much more quotes then vanilla. Another reason to play RTR.

A bad peace is even worse than war. Tacitus (this one is my favorite)

Men grow tired of sleep, love, singing and dancing sooner than war. Homer

A wise man in times of peace prepares for war. Horace

If a man does not know to what port he is sailing, no wind is favourable. Seneca the Younger

Ah! The generals! They are numerous but not good for much! Aristophanes
