The fear/respect system is one of the few things I liked about Civ:BE. Do you all know if any similar kind of system is in Civ 6 (it seems doubtful), and if not, should it be?

Civ 6 will also sport agendas which means leaders will have unique personalities that affect their behaviour and game-play. But these agendas will be pretty static so if you're looking to game the diplomacy system like you could in CivBE:RT, you're not going to find that in Civ 6.
Let's be realistic here, the way Agendas work in Civ6 means the AI is always going to hate you the more you are winning. Diplomacy in Civ6 is being marketed as some great new system when really it just means the AI will always hate you.
I feel like we will never return to Civ4 levels of diplomacy, where it meant something to make friends.

Any evidence of this?
