I have seen a few screenshots of golbal veiw with only 10 cities and people around with knights. I know that i would have way over that by the time i had knights. ethier they were playing on "Very Tiny" or slightly smaller maps has turned to largly smaller maps.

They probably had it on the smallest size for a quick multiplayer game which IMO is great. We might be able to finish a game on a tiny map in a 2 hour sitting! I doubt they will be unfunly small albeit the single player huge map games wont be the same... maybe if you put your game type as epic the land will be larger anyways I'm for it, yay smaller maps! (There are 4 votes and only 3 views! I'm so confused!)

Trying to cater to the RTS crowd with shorter games is fine, but I prefer big or huge maps which take tens of hours to play. I will be playing epic games, not the short or standard ones. As long as I have the option to play larger maps, I am okay with it.

At least we'll be able to mod the maps to make them bigger (world editor)

dont remember where i saw it...but the huge map..WILL BE SMALLER then that of civ3...by how much..i dunno.. i love big maps...so i found this to be a little upsetting. im hoping that the smaller maps are not trying to make up for the amount of graphics that may not make the game that much better

The maps in civ 4 will be smaller i think, or at least the huge map wont be as huge. But i like smaller maps, so i'm happy with it.

The maps will be a little smaller, but I am fine. Always love smaller maps.

even if maps are smaller, it shouldn't be too big of a deal. The maps 'size' might be smaller, but it could be 'bigger'. Would you rather a deeper game on a slightly smaller map size, or a shallow game on a super-massive-extra-mega-big map size???

I mostly play small maps, and never bigger than large. As long as more civs can fit in the small maps, I don't mind.

THe maps arnt suposed to be that much smaller anyways. Besides it sounds like what we loose in map size we gain in play.
Big map with bad game
or
Not as Big map with better game

could be for testing purposes... i mean realy would you be happy with the testers restricting them self to the huge map sizes that takes days or even weeks to play through?

As long as the largest C4 map is at least as large as the "large" C3 map, I'll be content. I also think that the small maps from the screen shots are just small because they're testing - why test something on a large map when you can do it faster on a small?

It's not a lose lose. The reason they are going for smaller maps is because of the virtual memory problems, because this is graphics intesive. And those graphics had better improve, else it's a very, very bad tradeoff.

I know it won't attract many new fans to the game, but if we are willing to choose it I would like to see 'Extremely Huge' accurate World Maps in the game. I've recently put together my PC so it is fast - but I am still willling to wait half an hour for my next turn if I can have that sort of map. That is provided that the AI doesn't suddenly have a brain-melt because the map is too large.

Again, I'm only saying it because if it comes up enough then maybe a change will be made. And this change will not nessecarily affect those who like smaller maps only.
But I like the majority of what I see in Civ 4 from a distance so I don't want to be overly critical.
