FFA01 - Free for all succession game

(BTW, I notice some of the units, like ships and missionaries, had some goto orders active. It is generally considered ethical in SGs to cancel all goto orders at the end of your turn, so the next player doesn't get any surprising movements.)
Opps, sorry about that! :blush: I thought I made sure I moved the units in such a way that they would end within my turnsets, apparently I must have mis-calculated somewhere!

I decide it is prime time to kick off our Golden Age.
:goodjob: I was tempted to trigger the Golden Age myself when the GA popped in Osaka, but think I better leave it to the next player (since you guys may possibly still want to use the GA for the grabbing of Alex's land).

As for the Liberalism vs Nationhood, as it turns out, you indeed use Liberalism to grab Nationhood, which turns out nicely. Although it took us sightly lengthier to get to Nationhood this way, but (1) we are leading in tech so we can afford it, and (2) in all, this saves us time since we get to learn paper (for map trading), and education as well.

Overall, nice set of turns!

So, on the Isle of Vovan west of our continent I think I see potentially two cities? One city two squares south of the lake. The other one in the NW corner where the hut was. Hut City would be a decent production city don't you think? Once we have a lighthouse there and start getting the food in and we have all the surrounding hills mined, it would be cranking! :D

I'm no expert on city planning by the way, so I would appreciate any counter-analysis.

The other alternative is to settle one tile W of the iron, and one tile SE of the lake.
The Iron city would be somewhat equivalent in number of hammers to the hut city, and the lake city would enjoy the benefit of a fresh water source.

Obviously, it also depends on the 3 fogged out tiles.

I am no city location expert either (I tend to trust the computer's autohint). Just to bring an alternative to the table for discussion. One thing for sure is that when the settlers and escort landed on that isle, a check on the fogged tiles should pretty much decide which way to go.

I don't think there can be a third city though.

Turn 1 - 1410AD
Elephantine: Market -> University
Some guy named Bede says we are FFA the Glorious, the most Cultured people in the world!! :D

Judaism has spread to Sparta

Turn 2 - 1420AD
Fuedalism -> Guilds

Vassalage or Serfdom anyone? I leave it the same for now.

We have circumnavigated the globe!

Giza founded -> Theater

Turn 3 - 1430AD
Osaka: Market -> Aquaduct (health issues)

There be barbs!!

Turn 4 - 1440AD
MM Anasazi to get Uni in 7, also to avoid pending unhealthiness

Turn 5 - 1450AD
Kyoto: Settler -> Barracks

Turn 6 - 1460AD
Guilds -> Banking
Alexandria: Library -> Monestary

We meet Caypac, sign open borders. No one likes Monty plus we are tons of techs ahead of him so I don't care if I tick him off or not.

Turn 7 - 1470AD
Memphis: University -> National Epic
Edo: Market -> Library
Kyoto: Barracks -> Knight

Turn 8 - 1480AD
We explore the great jungle island East of Monty and pop a hut discovering Astronomy!!! :eek:

Great Scientist is born, I can add some beakers to Constitution or build an Academy in our largest science city (Mempis). I build academy taking Memphis from 62 beakers -> 81 beakers per turn

Turn 9 - 1490AD
Banking -> Economics (going for free great merchant)
Alexander changes over to Serfdom and Vassalage. He is still Friendly with us...

Turn 10 - 1500AD
I see a ton of trades open with Alex and Capac and make them ending my set of turns!

Post Turn: Well, I did a lot of exploring with Caravels uncovering the large island East of Monty. I also uncovered a barb city on Monty's lands. I made the first settlement on the Island of Vovan spotting two sources of fish in range to the North! A second settler and a few workers are ready to be loaded onto the Galleon (that I just upgraded) and sent over to found the second city on the island.

So, we are still in a decent tech lead with Capac being the only one close to us (he had Banking before we did). Our Economic situation is decent but we are only at 60%. We also have a number of wonders that can be built including Heroic Epic. It is anyone's game from here. Look to sending some missionaries to Capac soon and cranking out those techs!

Very nice progress there, Codeboy. :) Got quite lucky with Astronomy, too!

Also, note that whoever picks up the save will apparently start off with a golden age on the first turn - Taj Mahal is due in the Thebes. :) So that promises to be fun. ;)

Also, I would say it might be good time to start slowly transporting some troops over to the isle of Alex. Thanks to Judaism, we pretty much have a complete picture of what kind of military he has, so can judge what kind of forces we need over there. :)

Thanks Vovan. Yeah, tell me about luck! That was one of the best pops I've ever had. Whoever queued up that explorer I give props! Supposedly explorers net better results from huts.

Lots of options available to us here. With our Astronomy pop, we have a huge lead for overseas colonization. We could easily consider a conquest victory I think. We can start now or later. We can colonize Jungle isle before anyone else would be able to set foot on it. We could also focus on wiping out Alex or even Monty. The options are endless!!! Who knows if we will even find some more uninhabited islands.

I get way too excited about this game :D

So, who's next? IceLion? GreyFox? Robo? Lurkers??

Comeon! Let's go let's go!! :D

Yah, yah... I know. I'll have them posted tomorrow. Sorry, should have posted that it was going to take a bit longer, I have a 4 month old, so my schedule has to be a little more... flexible. Beggin your pardon(s) of course.

Completely understandable IceLion. I have a 17 year old and she can be more than I can handle at times!!

Go ahead Ice, looks like we'll wait for that post :)

Finally, here is a new post for this SG...

This turnset was all about infrastructure. The Taj Mahal finished as soon as my turns started so I got a nice GA to play in. Built lots of Libraries, and Banks.

I kept getting crashes last night so this is gonna be a really short post and I can't totally trust my notes because I can't remember what I did exactly the same and what I did differently.

Economics came in, went to Gunpowder and changed our civic to Free Market. We can build Wall Street after we have 5 banks, IIRC.

Gunpowder comes in 3 turns later and I go for Chemistry. We are currently building Angkor Wat and Hagia Sophia, IIRC. GS born and used to knock down Printing Press. GM born and sent to Thermopylae for 1200 gold.

Chemistry comes in and I switch to Steel... After Steel my opinion is to get Printing Press for two reasons... 1)It's a prereq for Replaceable Parts which will give us lumbermills so we can further amp up our production. 2)It gives +1 commerce to all towns and villages, mo money mo money.

Not doing too badly if you ask me... here are some screenies for you...

And the save...

We are smokin!! :goodjob:

On a side note, I was playing a solo game the other night and I founded the first four religions :wow: Anyway, I then notice that one of the other civs had Buddism?!?!

How is that possible? I founded that religion, I did not build the shrine and I sent no missionaries! Any thoughts?
