FfH2 0.25 Bug Thread

Do not place FfH 2 in my documents. Put it where BtS is installed.

It appears you have installed the patch only. You need to install the mod first, then the patch.

But I swear someone told me the BtS version was the most recent version of the mod (.25). So there is no way to fix the version that comes on the BtS CD so that one can actually see the city?

Version that comes on the CD? It sounds like you might not be talking about FfH at all, but only FfH: Age of Ice. You should see the sub-forum for problems with that mod. When you asked what version the BtS version is, they probably though you meant the version for BtS, not the senario/mod that came with BtS. FfH II .25 is its own > 400mb download before the patches and without the media pack (which adds >300mb more, but really isn't necessary unless you are just dieing to see the into movie)

That senario is a completely different (and much smaller/simpler/inferior) mod than FfH II .25 (or any other version, for that matter). It is only a prequel senario, where you play as Kyorlin and lead the Amurites to reassemble the lost fragments of the Godslayer and use them to defeat the Tyrant God of Winter, Mulcarn.

I think you are right, as I am able to now run FfH II .25, but still having problems with FfH: Age of Ice. Thank you all for the assistance, and I am sorry for the confusion. I will check out the sub-forum.

This mod is not included on the BtS CD. That is a scenario taking place before the timespan of this mod.

.25 is the most recent version and it is for BtS. But those XML Errors you are getting indicate that you only installed the patch and not the mod itself.

Yeah, now that I know I there are two different things, the mod with the CD (Age of Ice) and the one everyone here is talking about (FfH II), everything fell into place. For those interested, the problem I was having with Age of Ice is solved by right-clicking on the BtS icon and selecting 'run as administrator'.

Thanks again for all the help, I now have both Age of Ice and FfH II running just fine, now that I know there aren't the same mod. :)

Ok, moving the mod to your Users folder wasn't good, you need to move that one back :)

So, the file Civ4BeyondSword.exe is at the path C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Gold\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe, which means you want the mod installed in the path C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Gold\Beyond the Sword\Mods.

Move your mod there and your icon should start to work for a proper shortcut finally.

Yep, got it. :) Thanks again!

EDIT: WITHDRAWN, NON BUG.

First time poster, but big fan of FFH2. May be a bug or a feature, may have been discussed elsewhere, if so, forgive.

I've noticed sometimes my civ's cold hard cash getting depleted almost randomly, sometimes every other turn, despite at times having a huge surplus scheduled to come in every turn. Could have, say, 200gp +200gp, but the next turn I'm somehow at say, 10gp +200gp. This was happening with my very powerful Lanun the other day, although due to being the sole civ to expand to a second continent on a "Terra" map (with no Forbidden Palace yet), I had to adjust Research and Culture down to something like 20% apiece, or even 10%. Maybe at levels this low, there's some kind of $ fluctuation I'm not aware of. Was running Runes in all cities (had actually purged the unfaithful), so there was a lot of $$ generating infrastructure all over the place.

I searched all around my borders to check that I wasn't being plundered by Privateers or having mercenaries or other hidden nationality units plundering improvements or anything (though I'd have expected popups to mention losing 5 or 10 gold here and there), basically I could find no explanation for the sort of "mystery drain" on $.

Guess I could post a save if anyone desperately wished to play, say, a half dozen turns and see if gold started vanishing. Not worth it though in case there's actually an explanation about corruption or something else which causes gold loss.

Great mod, really fun, thanks for all the efforts!

Upgrades? Casting spells with a gold cost (Drown warrior, frex)?

Yeah, not doing anything obvious like upgrading troops, rushing buildings, or anything else which has a clear gold cost associated with it. In cases I even just skipped a couple turns (without doing anything) just to see big "hits" to the bank, despite a green +positive figure sitting next to it. The hits did not seem to correlate to expected income (i.e., it's not like if I was expecting +80 in a turn, that I instead got -80). Confusing.

Hmm...I was thinking it could be rival spies stealing form you, then I realized that the things necessary for them to do so (ways to gain espionage points (apart from a few random events), any espionage missions, or any units capable of BtS espionage mission) have not been added yet.

(I forgot for a minute because I got tired of waiting for shadow's espionageso I went ahead and made the changes so Espionage in my version of Ff works exactly like in BtS, except that most civs won't have access to a reasonable source of espionage points or to units with spies' abilities until very late in the game. The Svartalfar, Sidar, and Balseraphs are pretty good at espionage though, and the Malakim are good with passive espionage (line of sight, and spy detection) although they can never build "Spies")

Do you have production automated in any city (the city selects what to build for you)? If you do, then the city governor may have decided to gold rush something.

That sounds like it. I also had this issue (missing gold), thought it was a bug, and posted it here. However, now that I think of it, I had production automated on all of my newly-conquered cities. That's the last time I do that.

Culprit identified, governors of former barbarian cities lavishing gold on buildings. Had conquered a whole continent's worth on a "Terra" type map with Labruscum (ton of barb cities) and as the Lanun had beaten everyone there to take over a ready made empire. Thank you for the aid, obviously not a bug.

I've been reading about others getting that 'Waiting for Other Civs' error, but never had it...until my current game.

It was frustrating because I was 750 turns into an enjoyable Epic game. I always quick save after each turn now and despite loading prior saves and trying a few other things, I always got the error.

The file was too large to save and attach, so I'm just giving up and starting a new game.

Really annoying though...:(

0.25k but nothing mrntioned about it in 'l' log

When summoning chaos maruder there is a chance that he starts as barbarian cause of hte enraged promotion. If your caster is outside of the city [I have observed it when he was one square to the right and up] then your units from that city are moved out of it and the city is captured by that chaos maruder SO almost all your buildings are razed, etc.

I had it happening in my game at least twice. Once it was a minor city so I didnt care much, also I was in a war on the other side and werent paying attention. The second time it was my capital with all religiouse and money/science buildings. This time I observed it well. It costed me -300 gold per turn so I went bankrupt in 3 turns [was at 0% due to inflation]

I suspect the reason may be that the maruder is always moved to the left-down when it goes rampage after summon. If there hapens to be a city then the game has a dillema of 2 hostile fraction being on the same title.
