FFH2 Multiplayer Games - Invitation and Information

I'll likely be around quite a bit - drop a message over hamachi if you feel like playing.

finally, had i known this thread existed i would have come here a long time ago. When are the next multiplayer games? I'm always patched up to the most recent version and I never could find anyone online, so I'm glad to have finally found this.

I'm available most weekday nights and some weekends. Just download Hamachi (first post, I think) and join either one of the two networks. So you don't have to go sifting through the thread, I think these are the two channels-

Name: FallFromHeaven
Password: ffh

Name: FallFromHeavenAnnex
Password: ffh

If the first one is full, join the second. We try to remove defunct players from the lists, but sometimes it can be tough to figure out which ones to delete.

i guess i'm ready for a game...but, i'm still a virgin when it comes to internet ffh2 fraternizing soo; what I'm trying to get across is...to join a network or whatever it isn't free, is it?

I'd be interested in playing a multiplayer game in which ppl fight to the bitter end (may take multiple sessions). It bugs me that you can't implement long term strategies or use a late game style civ in multiplayer because of this problem.

BTW I have been on the losing end of this!

Wouldn't it be good if we used an IRC channel as platform to launch games?
I had a look if #ffh was taken on quakenet (it is), so I went for the next fitting choice and created the channel #fallfromheaven.
Using such a channel would make arranging games easier in my opinion, so if you have an installed IRC client (www.mirc.com if you don't) go ahead and join #fallfromheaven on irc.quakenet.org, you'll find me there as Kendrael.

I'll be available most weekdays and some weekends. I will try to remember to log on Hamachi when I have some free time. Hopefully the Hawaiian and Pacific Coast timezones will line up favorably...

hawaii time is 2 hours behind pacific. I'll only be able to play weekends and probably some school nights.

theres an irc room linked in the first post, and we did use it originally, but found it easier to talk via hamachi&this thread to get people into the game, then to group chat in the setup stage within civ.

My train of thought was that quakenet is alot more popular and people might be hanging out there anyways. I just saw that someone joined and left 4 minutes later again. The point about this would be to stay in the channel when you're at your PC and basically able to play the game, not peeking in every 2 hours. And for Hamachi: I don't know how big the mulitplaying crowd is, but the size of the networks is limited and complicates arranging matches as well as being additional organisatory work cause inactive people have to get kicked out of the network.
An IRC channel is easy to use, the client itself can just run in the background (the highlighting feature would ensure that you notice when someone asks for a game) and supports far more people than hamachi. On top of that it's nice for some offtopic chatter.

oh, we've tried it, but hamachi also makes larger games easier. mirc has several problems, like frequent disconnects. we've tried them several methods before, but hamachi seems to have worked the best for getting a game started. not sure how many ffh players use mirc, if many already do then it prolly would be a good method, though im not certain that it does anything to help in larger games.

I don't know if you misunderstand me there, but the purpose of the IRC channel is getting an appointment for a game, not actually establishing the connection between the players (I wouldn't even know how to do that :P). Hamachi is still the tool to make the game itself happen, IRC the tool for bringing the people together.
Anyways: that's just a good meant suggestion, as I know that finding the people for a game is easier via IRC through experience :)
