FFH2 Multiplayer Games - Invitation and Information

I think getting completely (well, almost) random traits is a handicap enough it itself. We'd just have to be sure that no one tried to add another one by picking scorched earth/agnostic.
getting random traits isnt bad if you're opportunistic.
but the problem with qualifying it beyond what the devteam has stated is there is a lot of gray area in other traits too. Sprawling is a great trait, maybe its too great? maybe its too even? i mean you gain super cities but are limited in how many cities you can make, standard traits have no negatives, only positives. And Barb trait, you get peace with barbarians, but lose science %, and maybe you like fighting barbs for xp?

Personally I just want to easily quantify based on the devteam stated negatives. insane/adaptive both cause trouble on this.

Well, Sureshot, as much as I'm sure you'd love to start off with Expansive/Organized/Summoner, switch to Magic Resistent/Sprawling/Expansive later on, then be made into an Arcane/Defender/Creative, not everyone likes to deal with that sort of thing. The Balseraphs get an insane leader and a few interesting features, but I don't hear anyone say that they're overpowered.

I'll admit that it might cause some complications, but I don't think it will be a balance issue.

I agree with chand here. Perpetach is one of the 3 leaders I like in the game (Falamar and the Expansive Elf are the other two), and I hardly see him as overpowered or auto of balance. The possiblity of switching to a bunch of aggressive traits while you are trying to be creative is bad. The need to probably change strategies because your traits don't allow your expansion anymore is worrysome.

There for I agree wit chand, that insane per se, is enough to be a balanced trait compared to the others.

How about this: insane is alright as long as nothing else is chosen to go with it. Adaptive is alright, but it counts as two traits. Seems reasonable enough, what do you think? I don't plan to use either, but the option would be nice to have.

insane with no other traits is alright i guess, but no other traits, it must be taken alone then

if we allow adaptive, it only needs to count as one trait, because it allows you to change a previous trait (unless they change/fix that), and requires another trait just to use (as it will canibalize the previous trait).

but i say we not allow adaptive because of possible errors (someone complaining that it changed the wrong trait, or that basically they get 1 less trait because of it, what not)

oh, im up for some survival games before the big game in 2 hours

and also, if we have any troubles getting a big game started i say we split into two groups right off, lets get everyone playing without going through hours of connection attempts (trying to figure out if someone hasnt set up their router properly or if theres just distance lag takes too long). ive made a list of players and their locations so we can split into groups of people relatively close and less lagged together.

I'm not sure about adaptative, but I agree with insane

Yeah, I'm not sure about adaptive either. I'd just like to keep as many aspects of normal FfH as possible. To be honest, I never really saw the need for adaptive in the first place. Of course in vanilla Civ, the traits were the primary distinctions between Civs, so it wouldn't be good to have adaptive there, and FfH is very different, so I see the logic behind it, I'm just not such a big fan of it. Maybe the troubles it was causing with multiplayer a while back have something to do with it. :p

I'll probably be available for a game at the same time tonight as I was last night.

Edit: I should probably mention that I love the adaptive trait for the Grigori, as it lets me use a favorite combo with my favorite theme and a nice mechanic. But that's selfish personal preference, so I don't really count it...

Oh, probably four hours from now. Go ahead and start a big one without me if all the factors come together. It's been awhile since I played a single player game, and I'd be content enough to let you have your fun for once.

Survival game until the real one starts sounds good, I'm going to join if you host one.

Yohan, did you get Bozo all set up?
I think so. But during this afternoon our router had some issues and we had to change it. I will need some help to check if everything is alright. Can you wait more or less 15 minutes before starting the survival? So I can log with both computers and see if it is working perfectly.

Bozo is working right now, but will be back on time for the big game.

hey guys, unfortunately won't be able to join you for today's game - it's a glorious spring day in sydney :D and I have some RL to attend to. i'll try again next w/e.
