FFH2 Multiplayer Games - Invitation and Information

Im up for it as well, or at least having a set game time one day per week (other games can still be played obviously), but have one ongoing epic game every week where the same players all agree to play at the same starting time each week. This way we can finish a game for once, and maybe...god forbid.... get to some of the end techs/units. :p

Maybe we could do fri. nights @ 9 PM (EST) as the Epic game? Or Sunday? which ever is best for all involved. Since I tend to have shows on Fri. nights, maybe Sunday? Let me know if anyone is interested in this idea.

I'd probably prefer quick game rather than epic game but actually finishing games would be great! :p

When I say epic, I dont mean epic speed, I mean epic as in actually finishing a game. It will be played quick speed. For example, all players agree to 3 hrs of game play every fri. night at 9 PM EST. The settings can be the same as our normal MP games, just that now, we have no reason NOT to finish it. If someone has to go to bed, well, we save it, and all players will be there..... same bat time, same bat channel the following week.

I think we should start a new one, with dedicated people we know are going to play. Bozo has only played once (by all means im not against him or anyone playing, just stating facts) and I think I have only played with Draconian once. I just want to get a solid game from start to finish with the same people who will show up. If the game has to be rescheduled, no prob. so long as all can agree on a different day. If the same people listed above want to start an "Epic" game (quick speed) then that is fine, we just need to get a day and time each week, and stick with it. We could also either have a neutral party create a map (as we have talked about in the past), use what we called in the ladder the "mulligan rule", where everyone gets 1 restart due to a bad start, but thats it, or we could just go as is, and roll with it. Im cool with any of these. Thoughts??

personally i dont like the idea of one person saying "sorry i dont like this map we restart" when everyone else could be happy with the situ.

i say we only restart it if everyone can agree that the starts are poop

one person with a bad place can just move around a bit til they find something satisfactory.

well so far who can play sunday at say 2pm EST?

How many players go you usually get for these game? How long do you usually play etc? Do you use something like a chess clock, gotta fiish your turn in 2 minutes or less sorta thing? Civ esp FfH muliplayer sounds awesome in theory, but it seems like it'd be impossible to finish a game in practice. I mean, I can actually block off large chunks of time to play, but even so I have to stop often to walk the dog etc. How's it worked out for y'all?

Finishing a game is tough, but of course the finish is hardly the funnest part of FfH. For free-for-all games, we tend to run a 30 second to a minute or so timer (it's actually plenty of time, I was surprised to see that I was finishing my turns so quickly). We also play with simultaneous turns, which the AI doesn't exactly obey, but it's good enough.

It's really fun. Best of all, it doesn't take away from the quality of SP at all.

Edit: forgot to say this... we get as many players as we can. We've managed to get a game of 8 up one time, but those don't tend to last too long... still, 4 and up is nice to play.

Well, I'll try it sometime. Owl time is much less likely to require me jumping outta the desk chair at random intervals. Do games ever start after, say, 8:30 EST?
