FFH2- suggestion thread.

Disbelief is one of the strongest powers an Atheist can exhibit. Better saves vs. spells, Magic resist, Magic Immunity, Dispell or Unsummon sorts of abilities would be in order. How much of that sort of nonsense the Team wants to put up with or implement.

Atheism is not the same as Agnosticism. I imagine most of the citizens in the Fall from Heaven gameworld know of and have some measure of respect for the Gods as they can see the Gods' direct involvement in the course of their world and livces. In this world, the Atheist is a fool.

Agnosticism in the real world is the middle ground between atheism and theism. Folks who don't discount the idea of a god completley nor do they accept the idea of a god on faith. They are "skeptical."

In the world of FfH, it seems that Agnosticism is not so much the skepticism whether the gods exist but whether they have any business being worshipped or meddling in the affairs of men.

Not quite; it seems to me that the agnostics deny that the gods are gods. Instead, they maintain that they're just jumped up angels, and they're right about this. It would be pretty awesome if the power of disbelief could ward Cassiel's troops against magic or something... though I think the Grigori could use an economic benefit more than anything else.

Okay...I played for a LONG time last night.

I am playing the elves and I am doing very well so far. The difficulty level is only set for Prince. It was very difficult from about turn 100 until about turn 400 as I had to defend from hundreds of barbarian units who were attacking my lands. The onslaut helped me to have several of my warriors (later upgraded to archers and swordsmen) to level up quite a bit. My military is the strongest military in the game now by far.

It is about turn 650 now and the counter just passed 40. I hate the Blight that happens at turn 40. I got off to a fast start from a lot of goodie huts and founding (and spreading) the Fellowship of the Leaves.

I am allied with the Bannor and the two of us are neck and neck for the lead in score. We have kept the Armegeddon Counter low by beating up on the evil civs.

I don't think it will be too dificult to reach turn 1,000. I can see how the counter could go up very fast though if the barbarians were more successful at razing cities or if there had been a few more wars early on. If the four horesemen were to appear, all I have is macemen to defend my lands with.

Overall, I think that the slower paced game is boring. I prefer the standard speed. When the game is set to marathon, a few powerful units early on can really unbalance the game. I haven't gotten the Baron yet, but when I do, the other civs won't stand a chance.

Thank you for taking the time to do this!

Coincidentally, my game now is with Thessa/Elves. I agree Blight was devastating as I also had Fellowship of Leaves (don't the elves always get this???;) ) and I had to build more workers, but still lost 1/3 of my population.

I am playing without raging barbs this time, though, and what a difference! No wipeout before yr. 1,000.

I play the faster pace games too, but prefer Marathon. However, with Fire, it is very difficult particularly with the raging barb option.

PS. In my game, I got Ashen Veil and Hyborem appeared. I decided to stick with my elves and as soon as Hyborem left my borders (next turn) he declared war on me. Bad move as he ended up on a tile very close to Kithra Kyriel. My Rangers cleaned up the rest of his lot and the Infernal were history in one turn.

Sarisin i always play with your settings, in Light games were really easy on Monarch difficulty, now i'm playing on Fire and i have to say games are a bit harder due to the riders of apocalypse.Marathon at least favours a lot the player over AI because if you build one or two hero you can totally destroy the balance in your favour.Probably one of your problem is that you had too much civs in the map which easily make AC skyrocketing (like in my first Fire games i had AC going up to 60-70 on turn 500-600)
I'm now playing on Emperor, Huge, No Raging Barbs, 12 civs and No Aggressive AI and the game is a bit harder while the AC is a lot slower.
Try to play with less civs in the game, i would also advise to play without raging barbs turned on in Marathon, so some of the side effects like having superexperienced units will have less effect in your games for a better and balanced gaming experience.

Thanks for your response.

I always play with the default setting for number of AI civs with a huge fantasy realm map which I believe is 9 or 10.

The problem, in fact, is that AI civs are easily wiped out by raging barbs putting more of them after me - it is tougher to expand and develop your civ then. I find more civs makes it easier as the barbs have more victims to go after and as the borders of civs merge, you have some protection - particularly if one of the civs on your borders has the BAR trait.

First thank you for the Mod, it's hard now to return and play the normal civ4 or warlords for that matter.
Although I recently started to play Fall from heaven and I have a few posts but i have been keeping up with the forums and reading whenever I can.
I do have a small suggestion, which is breaking down the civilizations alignment. I read that some of the things this mod is based on is D&D. So i though making civilizations more Unique in defining their alignment. For example the Grigori Would be suited as True Neutral, While the Bannor could be Lawful Good and so on.
Something else I noticed is that the Dimensional mana is under used. More spells would be nice i think.
Well that's all for now, And If I could help with anything, Well Most what I do is writing, Photo Editing or translation Please ask, it's the least I can Do.

In most fantasy worlds (FFH included) faith and definitions relating to it end up working a lot differently than in the real world.

Agnostic as far as Cassiel is concerned means - as far as I know - that he realizes the gods arent really gods, and thusly he opposes them acting as such. In some ways, this would be related to being an Antitheist in the real world, seeing as how he is actively opposed to the gods and their worship. He isn't just open-minded on how or which gods to worship, and he does not question whether he exists, he just believes worshipping them is wrong.

I dont think this should be reflected by just giving him (Or any other civs who dont take a State Religion) some happy-making buildings to reflect a "descent into materialism"(descent is also very relative...) wouldnt do them justice. Also, it would penalize a Kuriotate who did not take a State religion.

Worth noting once again that Cassiel already has some cool stuff to make up for his lack of religion. The focus of my suggestion is more on giving something to other civs who dont take religions until the mid-late game, thusly making No Religion a religion choice in and of itself (As opposed to being a temporary, inferior condition)
