Final Fantasy Mod Progress Thread, Part III

Well, I want early expansion to be relatively slow, so 20 turns aught to do it, then....

I'm going to see about getting some kind of building/placeholder graphics thrown together and see about getting an Alpha version out for private testing (i.e. you PM me and I PM you the download link) so's I can start getting some gameplay feedback whilst I'm finishing up on the graphical stuff.

At present I can´t do any other playtesting because I want to finish my mod CCM for public betatesting this year. :)

Ok, some updates:

I've gotten all the "Palace" type small wonders added, and made it so that all settler type units can only be generated by said Palace SW:

The above preview is, starting from the top left: (human) Palace, (elvaan) High Council, (dwarf) Great Hall, Orc Palace, (windhurst) Orastery, and (Ivalician) Royal Court.

Also, I managed to pick up a strategy guide for Final Fantasy IV, DS, so here's my attempt at King Cecil of Baron:

Also, I'm going to be adding the various Summoned creature Small Wonders, as well as the special Airship buildings and techs, hopefully, I'll be able to get the beta release out shortly afterwards... I'm aiming for having the beta released by New Years, but we'll see..... (gonna have to use some placeholder graphics, even at that!)

This is probably the only scenario that would get me to reinstall Civ... Wait, this is definately the only scenario that would get me to do that.

I've been playing VIII lately, and I love VII, Tactics, X, and XII.

Great stuff!

This is what I was working off of.....

Looks quite close. :) Can't say that I like the bishounen 美少年 look, however. ;)

Bishounen is pretty much the definition of how 99% of the male leads look in Final Fantasy  (come to think of it, that also goes for at least half the main villians: Kuja, Sephiroth, Vayne Solidor, Kam'Lanaut and Seymour Guado just to name a few).

BTW, I'm currently scrounging some factory type graphics for the various airship manufacturing plants (to save time, effort and HD space, I'll probably use the same graphics for all the modern era airship factories), and I've gotten two more Summoned creature SW and the White Materia SW:

Didn't you use some of my stuff as well? ;)

GAH! I could have sworn I put your name in the "Buildings" section.....

Oh, well, I'll change that right away since I also forgot to put GoldFool's name in the "All Other Graphics" section.....

Okay, here's what the Credits look like right now (the Music credits are after the "more" icon is clicked):

And here's me pimping the new Wonder Splash graphics :D

Awesome, man, just awesome :)

What are those 2 summons, btw?

The first is "Trial By Wind" which produces Garuda for the Final Fantasy XI civs, and the second is the Zodiac Stones for the world of Ivalice civs that produce the Zodiac Brave/Totema/Esper Ultima, who can be seen in the splash.

BTW, as a special Christmas present, during my shake-down playtest of some of the new features (such as the spawned settlers), this altered feature popped up:

:D

aaahh, that Cid!

Everything's looking great! What exactly do you got left, HT?

Well, mostly getting things orgainized:

I've started implementing my upgradeable king units for the regicide mode (even though I don't have graphics for MOST of them at the moment), after which I'll be adding the SW and improvements for auto-producing the airships, followed by reducing the cost for ALL naval units by at least 1/3 (I got that idea from El Justo's Age of Imperialism Scenario), and finally adding in all the Summoned creature SW and units (including the SWs that I'll be using Balthasar's placeholder graphics for)

Finally, before I release the (more or less) public beta, I'm going to go through the Civilopedia and correct any glaring errors as well as making sure that ALL units with stealth attack or ZoC abilities are listed as such (fancy-schmancy stuff like background info can wait!).... Ditto goes for buildings: I need to make sure that ALL info for the building is accurate.

Like I said, I SHOULD be able to get the beta out by Jan1.

If you want to do any more work with the pedia, I could send you a copy of the current civilopedia.txt file and the current working .BIQ file....

...Oh, and I made a slight adjustment to the evil factions: Having to wait until researching Yevon's Teachings is too long to wait to get a fourth happiness building, especially since my cities are growing much faster due to settlers being auto-produced only, so I returned the Yevon Temples to only 2 happy faces, and gave the evil factions a building called a Chaos shrine that gives 1 happy face that can be built in any city that has a temple in it to tide them over until they can get the Yevon Temples online.

Furthermore, since happiness will no doubt be a bigger issue due to not being able to keep cities extremely small by spamming settlers, I'm making the Marketplace make 1 person happy (that, and also so you have at least 1 happy improvement that doesn't get automatically destroyed when you take over a city)... Again, an idea I got from the Age of Imperialism scenario.

Ok, thanks!

I've attached the current working .BIQ file and civilopedia.txt

I also realized that, since you helped find pics I've used to make some of the building and wonder graphics, your name needs to go into either the buildings or "All Other" section of the credits as well as the pedia/info credits.

....And I'm also forgetting to add Lusikka into the building graphics (I'm using some of his RON conversions) as well as Ronning and Padma (I'm using some of their converted buildings and Padma's RoN cities as bases for at least two of my city sets).

EDIT: The RoN city graphics were converted by ArbitraryGuy....
