Final Fantasy Mod Progress Updates, Part II

Well, I've finally got around to making an update with pictoral stuff. To keep the file small I only included things I'd changed/added since I posted the last picture. I've finished the Queen Reina LH, and managed to gather all three UU's so that the Kingdom of Tycoon is finished. I also recently finished out the Baron UU lineup with Kinboat's Praying mantis, which serves as a "Fabul Monk" (ala Yang). I've also finished President Karst, so at long last the Republic of Bastok is finally finished. It's kind of ironic that Bastok was one of the first factions to get a full UU lineup, but one of the last to get a LH :lol: The Vector Empire is almost done.... Just gotta get around to making the Imperial Sky Armor. I still gotta get around to making the last UU's for Alexandria, the Al Bhed, Ivalice, Galbadia and Kiltia as well. I still can't quite think of what the third UU for the Returners should be.... I still have two civs that have no UU: Estar (yes I finally added them, need to whip up a Laguna LH sometime soon), and Lindblum. I've got a model for one of Lindblum's UU's, and plans for the other two, just gotta get through a mountain of other work to get to them, though. I only have 3 civs with just 1 UU now: AVALANCHE, Shinra, and Windhurst.

Anyways, here's the latest preview pic:

Well, I've got a ton of stuff done, but I've still got much to do. I now have leaderheads for all but two of the civilizations I've added thus far. In addition, I've almost finished re-doing the entire advisor screens, as well as the advisor pics. Currently I've got Tifa as the domestic advisor, Yuna as cultural advisor, Yuffie as trade advisor, I've got Aeris planned for foreign advisor, but I need to find a good hair prop for her, I've got Sephiroth as military advisor, and Cid Highwind as science advisor. In addition, I've almost finished converting the advisor screens to look like traditional Final Fantasy menus (as a kind of nice, added touch). All I have left to do are the victory status screens and the Demographics screen.

I've also been buckling down on unit creation, and as a result, several civs are now closer to completion. Finally, I'm close to having enough data to add Final Fantasy I, II and III to the mod. The civs from FF I will be based on Brian Clevenger's brilliant parody of that game; 8-bit Theater (which, from what I've seen of the walkthroughs at eyesonff.com is much more interesting charachter and story wise :lol: ). I've also got around to making some final tweaks to the Naval unit line, and replaces the standard sub graphics with Wyrmshadow's Nautilis sub, changed the Nuclear Sub to a Makou Sub, and used BeBro's Triton sub graphics. I WILL be making the Shinra Attack Sub as one of Shinra's UUs.

So to sum up my current mod priority status list:

1) Finish up LHs for the remaining two civs that have been added. The order of which will most likely be: Marche, then Kam'lanaut.

2) Continue working on UUs for civs that still need them. The list is as follows (but not necesarily in order): Ivalician Chemist, Shinra Attack Sub, Shinra SOLDIER, Viera Ranger, Ranger (female medieval archer), Galbadian Iron Clad HoverTank, Al Bhed Scavenger (or Scavenger Ship), Imperial Air Armor (for the Vector Empire), Forest Owl (for Garden), SeeD Assault Ship, Estar Soldier, Ragnarok (for Estar), Invincible airship for Alexandria, Lindblum Aviator, Hilda Garde III (for Lindblum), Burmecian Dragon Knight (for Lindblum again), and a Windhurstian Cardian.

NOTE: If anybody want's to do any of these units, feel free to do so.

3) Finish researching and adding civs from FF I, II, III, Crystal Chronicles, and if XII comes out before I get this mod done, it's going in as well.

4) Finish up work on the industrial and Modern age tech trees as well as making proper tech icons.

5) Finish up all city improvement and wonder graphics that yet need to be done.

6). Spend many painfully boring hours editing the civilopedia.txt, labels.txt, script.txt and diplomacy.txt files.

Anyways, here's a preview of how the civs stand thus far:

It looks like a massive work!!! I wish i could help with some cities, but atm i am very slowly finishing just my n. european set, and then will probably be busy with nonciv stuff :(

Oh wow so much stuff, great job, it look like a perfectional work, I really look forward to it and want to play it after it's done, btw Ramza of Ivalice look kinda of like a girl, but I guess that can't be helped anyway.haha

:goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Hikaro Takayama, can you tell me which leader goes with what FF game? I havn't played some FF games in years and I don't have the time to dig up my collection and play them again.

BTW, are you including "Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest" (it was a good game for SNES) or any "Final Fantasy Adventures" games (I think there were three and all were for gameboy)? They are part of the series, but they weren't that popular.

P.S. Can you check my FF7 map and see if it is accurate and if you like it?

Varwnos: Don't worry about the cities. I've almost got them finished.

Cloner: Yeah, even in the original concept art from square (which I based the design from) Ramuza looks rather girly

Magus77: You're FF7 map is very good, IMO. I might add Mystic Quest and FF Adventure (a.k.a Seiken Densetsu/Legend of Mana) IF I still have room after adding all the civilizations from I, II, III, XII and CC. As for the leaders, the preview pic lists them in order, but here you go:

FFIV: King Cecil
FFV: Queen Reina
FFVI: Emperor Gestahl & King Edgar
FFVII: President Rufus & Commander Cloud
FFT: King Ramuza & King Lanard IV
FFVIII: Sorceress Edea, Commander Squall & President Laguna
FFIX: Regent Cid & Princess Garnet
FFX/X-2: Grand Maester Mika & Chieftess Rikku
FFXI: Star Sybil, Prince Royal Trion I, President Karst & Grand Duke Kam'lanaut
FFTA: Clan Boss Marche

Oh, here's a few updates that I forgot to mention: I've seriously re-arranged the custom music for the mod. The music now goes like this:

Ancient:
AncMEFull = Auron's Theme
AncGRFull = Sword of Doubt (Beatrix battle theme)
AncECFull = Balamb Garden
AncORFull = Cosmo Canyon
AncNAFull = FFVII Opening/Makou Reactor Bombing Run

Medieval:
MidMEFull = FFX Battle Theme
MidGRFull = FFIX Battle Theme
MidECFull = FFVIII Overture
MidORFull = The Highwind Takes Flight
MidNAFull = Cid Highwind's Theme

Industrial:
IndMEFull = Seymore Battle Theme
IndGRFull = Black Mage Village (FFIX)
IndECFull = The Man With the Machinegun (Laguna's battle theme)
IndORFull = Crazy Motorcycle (FFVII when you're escaping the Shinra Building)

Modern:
Techno MixFull = Prelude (THE Final Fantasy song, been in every FF game)
StarsFull = Dark Messenger (FFIX)
SmashFull = The One WInged Angel
NightengaleFull = Maybe I Am a Lion (FFVIII)
ModernFull = Still More Fighting (FFVII Shinra Boss theme)

Menu Music = The Place I'll Return to Someday (FFIX Menu theme)

Oh, and here's a sneak peak at some of the Final Fantasy units I've got in the works:

The Burmecian knight looks too cutesy. Freya may have been a giant rat, but she also had the look of a warrior (especially the way she handles her that spear of hers :eek: ). The Shinra SOLDIER looks awesome, though. :)

Trust me, Freya's got a LOOOONG way to go before she's finished. The Shinra SOLDIER, on the other hand, will most likely be my next unit to do.

That how the Burmecian Knight let their oppents guards down, and then kill!!!

btw is there gona to be a common units/tech tree for every civ? cuz it's not likely that you can fight tanks with arrow or swords so, just curious. :crazyeye:

Actually, I'm working on eventually having upgradeable king units (ala Sengoku), and making (or finding) king unit graphics for the various faction leaders. The twist for Regicide games will be the fact that King units will be the strongest units in whatever era it is (i.e. in the ancient age, the king will have an att of 6 and def of 6, while the strongest other unit which is the Minotaur (available with the Tomb of the Unknown King wonder) which has 4-2-2). This makes perfect sense considering that all the leaders of almost all the various factions were either playable charachters (Reina, Cecil, Cloud, etc) or main bosses (Rufus, Edea, Kam'lanaut).

As for the common units, if you'd check out the earlier posts, I had a preview picture. There will be four main unit lines, with the various UU's replacing different units in these main lines for whatever civ builds them.

First is the offensive unit line, which starts with the Fighter:

Fighter (1.1.1)->Knight (3.2.1)->(Mid)Paladin (6.3.1)->(Ind) Swordmaster (10.6.1)-> (Mod)Samurai (20.12.2)

Next is the Defensive/Archer line:

Archer (2.3.1)->(Mid)Ranger (3.6.1)->(Ind)Gunner (6.10.1)->(Mod)Sniper (12.20.2)

Then there is the Dragoon line, which have equal offense and def:

Warrior (2.2.1)->(Mid)Gladiator (5.5.1)->(Ind)Lancer (8(10).8.1)->(Mod)Dragoon (16(20).16.2)

Of course, what would Final Fantasy be without Chocobos? In the modern age, only airships and certain civs UU's move faster than Chocobo units:

Chocobo Rider (3.2.2)->(Mid)Chocobo Knight (6.4.2)->Chocobo Cavalry (10.6.3)->(Mod)Chocobo Dragoon (20.12.4)

Again, what would Final Fantasy be without Airships, either? Airships treat all terrain as roads, can transport foot units and can rebase and conduct recon missions:

(Mid)Airship (8.6.2)->(Ind)Steam Airship (12.10.2)->(Mod)Advanced Airship (24.20.2)

Then, to round everything out, we got tanks:

(Mid)Battle Wagon (6.5.1)->(Ind)Steam Tank (10.8.2)->Tank (14.10.2)->(Mod)Heavy Tank (22.14.3)

As you can see by these statistics, Swordmasters, Samurai, Lancers, Dragoons, Chocobo Cavalry, Chocobo Dragoons, Gunners and Snipers all have a decent shot at defeating the most powerful mechanized units for their eras. Since it's a regular occurrance in FF, spearmen (dragoons) have more than a fair shot at defeating tanks (think Cid Highwind vs a Shinra Grosspanzer during the Makou Cannon assault at the end of Disk 2 in FF VII).

o ok, and then each civilization will have unique units other than the basic line of units right?

If it's possible there should be more than one king units I think, afterall most games have more than one Playalbe characters

I wish that were possible, but even with Multi regicide, all the kings are the same unit. If I were to go through with the FFVII scenario based off this mod (although I've noticed that there are others working on that already, so I'd be more than willing to help them in any way possible), then I'd have King units representing the likes of Rufus, Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, Red XII, etc, since you can give units to civs at the start of scenarios.

Anyways, I also posted in that lottery, and requested the Ragnarok Spaceship.

I was about to post with a few requests for additional info that I haven't come accross via much web searching. I'd like to add the world of FF Crystal Chronicles, but have been drawing blanks as to who should be leading it. Here's the info I've dug up thus far:

Leader: the *unnamed* princess you run into in the Runaway Princess quest...

Civilization: Alfitaria (since at one time, this city DID rule most of the world)

Conall Curach
Moschet Manor
Mount Vellange
Jegon River
Mine of Cathuriges
Selepation Cave

UU's: Liltie Knight (Use either Aaglo's Hobbit Spearman or Hobbit Gaffer), Clavat Red Mage (Might use one of the similar looking knight graphics and add a magical attack), Selkie Thief/Ninja (might be able to scrounge up the graphics somewhere), or Yuke Wizard (Don't quite know what to use here)

The other game that I've managed to almost get enough info to add is, ironically, FF III (the one that was never released in the US). Here's a working split of the civs between the good guys and the bad guys:

Civ: Forbidden Land Eureka (the Bad guys from III)

Noun & ADJ: Forbidden Landers, Forbidden Land

Leader Title & Name: Great Tyrant Zande (going to have to find or make a blue or orange skinned Djinn looking LH)

Traits: Religious (or anti-religious as it may be with all their undead and evil monsters), Militaristic (no brainer here....) Commercial (one of their higher ups had a mansion of gold....)

Starting techs: Shamanism, Wood Working, Warrior Code

MGL:

Gigames
Hyne
Hekaton
Amon
Kraken

SGL:

Goldor
Guzco
Scylla

Cities:

Magic Circle Cave
Dark World

UU's: Lamia (Aaglo's Naga Sorceress), Skeleton Warrior/Knight (one of Aaglo's skeleton warriors), Floating Fortress (Aaglo's flying Castle)

Besides the LH, I'd say that I'm pretty much ready to add this civ and be done with it, unless anybody has any objections to the city or unit lists.

Civ Number II from FF III: Either Sassoon or Salonia (trying to decide which)

Leader & Title: Either Princess Sara or Prince Allus

Traits: Scientific (they have a lot of airships in this game as well as magic technology), Industrious, Agricultural (the town of Gysahl is where the famous Gysahl greens are from and they ship them to just about every other FF :lol: )

Starting techs: Masonry, Pottery, Metal Working

MGL:

Prince Allus (or Princess Sara, depending on which one gets chosen for the leader)
King Gorn
Tuca
Sarina

SGL:

Cid :D
Dorga
Unne
Delilah
Topapa

Cities:

Sassoon (or Salonia, depending on the leader)
Salonia (or Sassoon, depending on the leader)
Ur
Gysahl
Cannan
Kazus
Leprit
Temple of Time
Viking Base
Fargabaad
Dwarf Cave
Amur
Unne's Shrine
Tokkle
Ancient Village
Tower of Owen
Dorga's Village
Forest of Healing

UU's: Viking (use either Firaxis Berserk or one of the many viking units here), Sage (Use MRTN's Temujin magic attack dude), Magic Knight (scrounge for some appropriate foot knight graphics or make my own), or Ninja (use Ekmek's Assassin or make one with two swords :ninja: )

As you can see, I've still got some issues with the good guy civ from FF III, as well as a bunch of units to download and some LHs to make and/or find. Any help/suggestions would be welcomed.

Glad you're happy that I'm planning on adding it. BTW, if you have beat the game or completed the Runaway princess sidequest thingy, could you please tell me her name and/or what she looks like? That's the only thing keeping me from adding the FFCC civ to the game right now. As a matter of fact, I've already got Aaglo's Hobbit Gaffer lined up for the Liltie Knight.

I've also added the two civilizations from FF III: The Forbidden Land and Sassoon. I managed to make a clean sweep with the Forbidden land, thanks to Shirokobure and Aaglo. I used Shiro's Nepal LH to represent Zande (since that LH does look sorta like Zande in the game, crappy NES graphics notwithstanding), and I'm using Aaglo's Flying Castle as the Flying Fortress (replaces the advanced airship), Aaglo's Naga Sorceress as the Lamia (replaces the Swordmaster), and Aaglo's Grave Guard for the Skeleton (replaces the Paladin).

As for the Good guys, I decided on Sassoon, since I wanted to balance out the Male-female leader ratio a bit (not to mention that Princess Sarah from FFI will be a MGL for the Light Warriors, rather than the leader), plus I have the perfect props and outfits in Poser to make a Princess Sara LH. As for the UUs, I'm using MRTN's Temujin Magic attack for the Sage (replaces Samurai), CamJH's King's Life Guard for the Magic Knight (Replaces Swordmaster), and Aluminium's converted Berserk from AOE II as the Viking (replaces the Paladin and has amphibious assault capabilities).

Here's a quick preview of the latest working version of Princess Sara. All I need now is to scrounge up a good background picture for her....

hmmm..I couldn't find the name of the princess, all the FAQs just call her princess, but they did say it looks like a clavet with lilty hair, but I think it might be a lilty considering the city she's from. But for the LH, you could use a human head with a flower like hat..

here's the site I got the info, look for the part about the princess
http://www.cheatplanet.com/gccheats/final_fantasy_crystal_chronicles.htm
I;ll tell you if I found anymore infos, if you have any questions just ask me.

Damn, you're a good modeler, Hikaro. It seems you've made 99% of the graphics yourself, :D. Good luck finding a good background for her. If you tell me what to look for, I could find one.
