Well, whatever. It's a subjective thread, so I guess that's allowed, though it'd still be nice to see some of you giving a reason or two for why your choice is your favorite.

I've always preferred Final Fantasy IV. For one thing, it was the first I played, so it's got that nostalgic value. I've also always found IV's characters more interesting than the rest, and the "JP" version is one of the few truly challenging games in the series. *shudders at memory of the demon wall*

Even without that, it's still the greatest just because of the line... wait for it... "You spoony bard!" [/predictability]

BTW, when I logged on, the board informed me that it's been several weeks since my last post. Try a couple years! :lol:
 
I agree, IV is amazing, and some of the best worst translation ever. I loved the characters, but I just can't get it past the story of VII. But, IV is definitely my second favorite ever.
 
What about the final fantasy legend trilogy?!?!

Mystic quest is final fantasy adventure... right? I voted for ff7, but I can't really decide between ff7,ff9 and final fantasy adventure.

Those aren't really part of the FF franchise. In Japan, they were a completely seperate series (Romancing SaGa?), but were retitled in North America to help sales.

No. MQ is just a spin-off and, like Tactics, isn't really a Final Fantasy game.
 
MQ was made after 4 (IIRC) and was dumbed down to the crap it is now cos the guys in the US thought that it'd be too difficult for american gamers. honestly.. it was made AFTER 4.. argh.

5 was great, with the job system and all...
but 7 for the storyline, materia system, soundtrack, and villain. 8 had a great story and soundtrack too.
 
Damn i should of been in this forum long ago.

My favorite is final fantasy 6 by far.

Hah you havent played the best ones yet. But 7 is very good il give you that.
 
FFX. Good graphics, good gameplay, involving storyline. I found VII's plot far too jump and didn't like the gameplay. Far from my favorite.

Even though the gameplay in ff7 didnt allow very unique characters i thought it was highly addicting.

I enjoyed the random battles and leveling materia so much i level my characters way above what they are supposed to be when i get somewhere.

For example i fought godo in wutai when yuffie was lvl 50 and i had the third tier of fire/bolt/ice spells when fighting the boss in cosmo canyon.
 
Tactics advance is the only one I've ever played, and it was good.
 
Tactics. Now if only they'd give it a real sequel. Or at least a spiritual-successor of sorts. None of that "Advanced" crap.
