I have EVERY Final Fantasy game.....
if I were to rate them myself, it would be.....
FF VII
FF VI
FF VIII
FF Tactics
FF X
FF I
FF IV
FF V
FF III
FF IX
FF II
FF X2
FF XI
FF Tactics Advanced
FF XII has not come out yet, but I hope it is good

I pretty much agree with that, except three and six are the same aren't they? I probably like three in six's place because they fixed a few things in six that were good in three.

Actually, III would be first, then VI, then VII.

It think it is common that VII is considered the best while VIII is considered the worst. In actuallality, there's no comparing them because they came out at different times when technology was a tad different, and they were thinking of a different idea.

VIII had a very interesting story...the problem was the junction system could be easily exploited once you grasped it. Renzokuken everything to death with the Aura spell in stock.

IX & Tactics are my personal favorites, with FF7 & FF4 following behind. I liked 10...not as much though, because I prefer switching out party members and being forced to choose my party. It also felt kinda short compared to the others, I like really long games (Dragon Quest anyone?).

FFX-2 was just a waste of time in my opinion. I like Yuna and all...but she didn't need a whole other game. It was more like FF "Charlie's Angels".

I can agree with that..... I bought it thinking it would be a good game, and boy was I dissapointed.... should have rented it first

No, unless you're using the SNES numbering. Not very many people refer to VI as III anymore.

Not if you talk to people who know what the hell they're talking about. Many have only played the PlayStation FF's (not counting re-releases), and thus aren't aware of, say, FFII. I'm unaware of anybody who prefers X-2 to VIII.

Also, I don't know why one can't compare VII to VIII, since they were released within a couple years of each other. There are also a number of us who consider FFVII to be one of the most overrated games ever. It's very good, yes, but the amount of praise it receives is too much.

The borderline unintelligible story is one reason. Others feel the leveling system is too easy to take advantage of. Personally, though, I found it very fun. Besides, a game's powering system can only be abused if the player abuses it.

Those aren't really part of the FF franchise. In Japan, they were a completely seperate series (Romancing SaGa?), but were retitled in North America to help sales.

Lol, now I'm confused. So what's the deal with final fantasy adventure? The cute little gameboy game with real-time combat. Kinda felt like final fantasy zelda. Has anybody else played that one?

According to wiki It says that "Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden" (the gameboy game I'm thinking of) was released as "mystic quest" in europe and "final fantasy adventure" in North America, and "final fantasy mystic quest" is a totally seperate SNES game.

Now I'm totally confused... lol. That gameboy game with the tree of mana and real time combat was fantastic though... whatever the hell it was called

i dunno, i kinda like the time-compression story. its a nice change from the medieval final fantasies of old, and its a unique idea, i'll tell ya that. the FMV's were savage too.

I thought that Tactics Advanced was excellent. It was extremely fun with a huge amount of replayability.

I'm angry with myself though, I got stuck at 1 mission left out of 300 with 40 hours logged on.

I have played almost everyone except those before FF VI.
Squall is the king! Rinoa is way cuter than Aerith!!!

This belongs in all other games and i prefer FFIII, and FFVII - FFX and despratley waiting for european release of FFXII.

Well that's a good sign - 7 and 10 are my favs, and I'm waiting for the 3 to be released on DS...

Maybe for the simple fact that the magic - character enhancement system (associating magics with one caracteristic of your character) made it so that you were always unwilling to use your best magics in combat for fear of "hurting" your character, and also you constantly had to farm magic sources.

I have all except the "real" FF III the one that was never released in the states. But il have the remake this november.
