Finland

Hey, I'd play a Winter War scenario any day! Brave little Finland taking on Stalin's Russia during the cold winter of 1939-1940. They lost of course. I'd like to change that :)

Hey! I would call it defensive victory :D If we would had been losted russians would had invaded Finland and they didn't. Thank God for our brave soldiers. I don't even want to imagine our life under Russian fist.

Just think of a large scale Soviet Estonia, Soviet Lithuania and Soviet Latvia. ;)

And US isn't so old too as an indepent state if you made judicious by that.

US has been Around for 200 years (That's longer then United Germany has), and the influence of the US has done a major impact on World History wich Finland hasn't.
 
I think there're a lot of reasons to make it Scandinavia and in it include the Viking era. Just take a thing as finding great leader or scientific leaders if you only have a few centuries of dark ages to search through. The Viking era is what would make this region worth to add in an exppack but by itself, these couple of hundred years, it isn't much of civ, in the Civsense. Imo this period is what adds the necessary flavour, to be included in Civ, to a civ consisting of couple of countries. The rest of our history adds mostly depth to a scandinavian civ, but we have had other periods of strength and I see no problem them being represented i civ also, as a part of an scandinavian civ.

I'll end my offtopic rant now.... :blush:

True. I guess Viking scientific GLs would be difficult to find. However, in Civ 4 I'm not sure whether the Great People will be named? As for Civ Leaders, I still think there should only be Vikings to choose from. There will be no more than two at most, anyway. Shouldn't be too hard to find! :viking:

200 years isn't still so much for a country. That is true and that is why US is on the game but nowdays Finland has been in participate with many happenings on the world.

We have strengths on negotiations, peace keeping forces, somewhat in electronics and metal industry, paper industry is also finest in the world. We are overall quite good state and still going on and on.

As a matter of a fact I'm starting to wonder why we aren't in the game.

Of course not stock majority but it's leaded by finns and IMO product development is highly driven here.

Edit: And as long as Jorma Ollilla is Nokia's chief, it's finnish company allright :)
 
My point is they need a nordic (important) empire.

To answer mrdies question, defenatly Gustav

Sweden founded Helsinki,Turku, and Vaasa. This points more to my Swedish Empire theory. I think they should have Finnish cities in Sweden

Well there's no chance that Finland would be among the 18 original civs so you being sarcastic wasn't totally unrealistic... no need to get upset about it either way...

Plus it is possible to reply to several posters within a single post :mischief: .
