"Fire" Developer Diary

Does this mean we can expect less "seas of unending tigers" that one must wade through when trying to reach goals? The orange and black fur went for leagues i tell you, leagues!

The AI is just trying to repopulate the endangered species, who are decimated by bad hunters and rangers. And you mar their efforts.
Now, we know who will blamed when all the great bards create a foundation for animal rights. :)

Also has anyone mentioned the celestial compass from the screenshot yet?

EDIT: maybe if it is confusing that arawn is the angel of death, other mytholgical names like Memitim, Thanatos, or Yama could be used for the angelic unit?

The summon tiger spell is being removed, so yes.

Nope; it's 1-((1-5%)^2) to get 1, the other, or both, which is 1-95%^2 = 1-90.25% = 9.75%. With 7 it would be 1-(95%^7), or roughly 30.166% to get at least 1.

You're absolutely right - I never was any good at combinatorics.

WOW! Just read the last three updates and I'm am amazed at the creativity and dedication it takes to make this mod!! I've worked on mods in the past for other games and FFH2 is one of the most detailed and complete mods for any game! Looking foward to Fire!

Firaxis and Sid need to pay you guys.

I totally agree, i have played a lot of mods (also for other games) and I have never seen a mod so well done and with a so large scope.
I hope that Kael and other devs will make FfH a long lasting project which will be developed also for future releases of Civilization.
If i would be them, i wouldn't also dismiss the idea of writing a fantasy novel on FfH "world", the history, the settings have nothing less than other fantasy classics if the "FfH world" would be developed.

Here Here! for the FfH team on such a cool mod. I cant wait to try out Fire phase! With all of this updating are you planning on keeping Illians and the Shades as unplayable or are they to be updated in future phases?

I'm envisioning playing the Calabim and building the Mercurian Gate. Sending Moroi Vamps juiced on burning blood on suicide runs and getting a high level, upgradable angel in return.

This sounds ****ing awesome :D I can't wait!

They way I understood it, only Mercurians can have angels, so you can't build vampires with calabim and then switch to mercurians to get angels.

You are correct. Though you could start play as the Calabim and found the order or runes. Then some of the units you produce would have the order or runes promotion (symbolizing the unit is a follower of that religion). Then build the gate and switch to controlling the Mercurians.

After that the Calabim would be your ally, and any of their units that died with the Order or runes promotion (it works out to about 20% of them) would come to you as angels.

When Order or Runes civilizations are getting killed the Mercurians get free angels. When Overlords or Veil civilizations are getting killed the Infernals get free Manes.

100% of living Mercurian units that die are returned as angels.

Are angels immune to disease and such like demons or are neither immune and Im simply thinking undead. And on a side note I really dislike the disease causing spell because it always infects my units (really bit me when i thought Vamps were undead lol) since undead dont count towards defense happiness :P Thanks for all the work you put into this awsome mod.

Yeah, angels arent alive so they are immune to disease.

Are there any additional plans for the Cult of the Dragon religion? I don't think I've ever played a game where the Cult had any impact on the game.

Random Wonder Idea

House of Leaves

Provides 1 Entropy Mana
Units do not heal in city tile.
Each Unit produced in the city add's 1 to the Armeggedon counter.

Oh, nice allusion. Possibly a pretty cool wonder too. I thought it was meant to be a Fellowship wonder until I remembered that 'blue' + 'house' = ominous Escher-esque building of madness and horror.

That would be an interesting wonder. I may like that mechanic better than the one we are currently using for the prophecy of ragnarok. The name would have to be changed though, it would be to confusing with the relgion (though I read that book so I know where you are coming from).

If this was implimented you should also have it so that if this wonder is razed then it acts like the AV holy city being razed I would imagine.

EDIT: It could be renamed Tear in the Veil and the inage could be a huge fissure in the land or something.

must sleep for a week...

any pictures of angel units? basium is looking like a lot of fun now, will mercurians and infernal be set to not AI chooseable for when you pick random AIs? im a little confused about the

is that like the thing i did where units built in a city with a certain religion get a promotion showing their religion? or do only thanes and the like turn into angels?
