"Fire" Developer Diary

I think the 18 civ limit is a designer imposed limit to control computer usage, but I am merely speaking as a guess.

* Peace - Allows Corlindale to declare peace between all civs and his owning civ.

How will this react to Basiam always being at war with AV civs?

it won't "react" since Corlindale is the national hero of Elhoim.

Since when were the Elohim prevented from following the Ashen Veil?

Here is a mini dev diary focusing on one new mechanic--Favorite wonders.

We added in a new leader attribute that gives each leader a favorite wonder. This gives no actual bonus to that leader in building the wonder however. Rather, if you are palying as another civ and build a leader's favorite wonder, you will get +4 diplo relations with them.
So if you build the Great Lighthouse you get +4 relations with Falamar.
And if you build the Ride of the Nine Kings you get +4 with Tasunke.

Just a short dev diary since Kael is absent and the release is quite soon.
(the other team members might all be inspired now to post about some of their favorite new mechanics)

It's in the private forum, where else should it be?

Yeah I'll probably move the changelog public on Wednesday. Just to give everyone a chance to check out the specifics on what they want to begin playing with on Friday.

(Message too short without this text.)

So what happens if say Falamar built the Great Lighthouse on his own and then you just decided "Hey I want the Great Lighthouse!" and declare war on him to take the Great Lighthouse? Would Falamar in the end actually like you MORE for taking his favorite wonder? Or do you have to BUILD the wonder to get the diplo modifier?

Should Falamar be saying, "Hey *I* want the Great Lighthouse!"? Wonder building is a competitive activity in Civ. Owning the favorite wonder of another leader should be a diplo penalty.

"-4 Falamar is envious of your Great Lighthouse."

Yeah I agree that there should actually be a penalty considering the scenario that I previously described where you declare war on the AI, capture their favorite wonder, and end being more liked by that AI.

By the way:
Spoiler :
"-4 Falamar is envious of your Great Lighthouse."

Wow that is such a bad way of saying that!

Probably the "you declared war on me" would cancel out the bonus from building the wonder. You could think of it this way--by maintaining that specific wonder, leader x sees that you think alike, and likes you more.

Though it would work just as well the opposite way, and could certainly be set up to be, by inserting a "-" appropriately.

Or it could be like this: If you have the same alignment you get a bonus ("You keep the <wonder> from the evil/good guys") if you have the opposite alignment you get a malus ("You don't deserve <wonder>"). Neutrals would just be... neutral about it.

I dont imagine anything positive happening in the private thread. I assume blatant and obscene violations of the Pants Rule are common.

Sick, twisted people.

Are we allowed to assume we're wearing, say, a skirt instead? Should be the underpants rule.

Nope, no skirts. Just pants. Skirts would allow for possibilities that are best unexplored on these forums.

Sureshot herself was a victim of such chicanery. Hence the institution of the pants rule.
