My laptop died, and so i've lost every little bit of progress i made modding Civ6, including all my previously made mods. 2 years of modding is now inaccessible.

and i can't afford a replacement right now.

Edit: was able to rescue anglo-saxons for when i eventually get another way to mod.

I've decided after some months of thought that i will be retiring from making my own mods.

In the recent months a lot of stuff has happened in my life that has made it difficult to keep going with this awesome hobby that I've done for coming close to 3 years now. I was late to the Civ5 modding scene and struggled to fill gaps in "the market", but i was one of the first into Civ6's and i just wish i had managed to make more of an impact with my Civ6 mods. I've always struggled with the idea of making mods of Civilizations that had already been made, feeling like there was no point in making a mod at all if not enough people were interested in playing it.

All of the mods i'm proudest of have been collaborations. Thebes was my first time working with others to make something and it ended up being one of my most popular and highest quality ones at the time. Then, after hearing about the destruction of much of Palmyra's ancient ruins, i asked the community to work together on a Palmyrene Empire mod led by Zenobia. It had it's ups and downs and took months to produce, not being released until over a year after we started. However it became extremely popular and apparently performs well in AI battles. Then i got to work with Colonialist Legacies, which i was really excited about since they had made some of my favourite mods, and we created the Tlingit. I originally planned on making it alone but talked with TPang and i begun working on it alongside the CL team. It had the most custom art and code i'd ever seen in a mod i was involved with, and i was very happy to see something that was originally an idea of mine on a notepad become a fully fledged CL mod.

Unfortunately, as i mentioned earlier, I can't feel a reason to keep modding. Even with a new Civ game full of opportunities i feel as though i'm vastly less experienced then all the amazing modders currently releasing Civ6 mods. We've even got 3D animated leaders now! and with my opinion that i can't make mods that i don't think will be played, i just can't keep making mods like i was.

Recently my laptop broke and i lost all my files (old and new), except for my WIP Anglo-Saxon mod. I've taken on a PC from a family member but it can't run Civ6 and isn't any good for continuing to mod. So with that being the nail in the coffin, I've decided it's best to stop before i drive myself mad. The frustration and anger at myself for not being able to create the mods i envisioned in my mind was causing too much trouble and taking up too much of my life. I've offered my Anglo-Saxon assets to someone and i hope they say yes because i would at least like one final thing of mine to be released before i'm finished, but i can't do it myself.

As for my currently released mods, they will be staying on the Steam Workshop in whatever stable or buggy state they're in, never to be updated again (because i physically can't now i've lost all the files). So sorry to anyone who hopes to play them in the future but can't. Feel free to download them, rip them to pieces, fix them, and put them back together if you wish. My mods are for anyone now, if you can figure them out.

Thanks for the good times, Civfanatics!

If you have another laptop or anything, just pop the hard drive out of the old one and put it in the new one and it'll work.

PLEASE don't tell me that you didn't throw away the old one. :undecide:

Oh and by the way, can I have those Anglo-Saxon assets?
