First Civ 4 Screenshots!

Who knows, if they are more similar to MOO2/3 great leaders, maybe they would just appear at random (or maybe depdensing how good your culture is?) and then, if you "hire them" you could get some world wide benefits/disadvantages to whole empire.

You see, though, thats why I reckon it will be more of an extension of the Great Leader concept. Leonardo Da Vinci could be EITHER a great cultural leader OR a great scientific leader (or both) who appears when someone achieves a certain degree of greatness in the appropriate area (though this would still leave us with the whole snowball effect!!) You could also have Great Philosophers/Prophets, Great Economists, Great Industrialists, Great Explorers and Great Diplomats-each with their own unique ability that they can grant to your nation!! Of course, this is all speculation on my part, but there is cause for hope ;) :)!

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

Well if reaching some of criterias needed for those leaders would also mean making some sacrifices (like production of military), then maybe it would be with snowball effect.

To get great wonders you needed to sacrifice production, which reduced chances to snopwball effect.

Maybe you need to give more freedom to your people for great people to appear.

At least that's how I'd like to see it.

They were removed at the request of the magazine, "if you want to see them, buy the magazine."

Civ 4 Screenshots found!

Dont know if someone has already found these, or whether they are the original infamous PCGamer pics, but i did a search for civ 4 screenshots and found this french site with two of them.
At first glance i was a bit sceptical - they looked so different that i thought it must be a different game depicted and realised that it was more likely that my french was simply rubbish ;)
Anyway i think they are the real deal...

They're the same screenies that we've already seen.

Yeah presumed it might be after reading the responses to the original pics.
Anyway, found them again for those, like m, who haven't seen them yet :goodjob: :)

They're the same that YOU'VE seen, but there are people out there like me who hadn't seen them and couldn't access them from CFC, because they've been removed you see.

And yes, they look horribly ugly. But that almost feels reassuring somehow, since it means it's certain to be improved on. If they'd looked decent but still not great, that may have been closer to the final result. This just HAS to be improved.

yeah I hadnt seen them either thanks for posting the link

the game looks really weird tho

oh and I'm not gonna buy the magazine either

If you capture Cologne, your troops will smell really nice(not really)

Someone has a sense of humor.

The graphics are clearly not even cloe to done. The game isn't gonna be released for another year, so they deffinatly will get better. Nothing is set in stone yet. Well almost nothing nothing.:p

My best guess would be late november 2005. That's nearly a year from now.
