Fix-It List

I can't right now, the school I am at has the worst connection speed that you could imagine, it's almost as bad as 56k. But I will try that when I am able too. Thanks for your help!:D

Im having trouble loading CivilizationIV and it says, while loading, that: cannot load shader libraries.

I have had civ for a littel bit now and I had it on my laptop but we just bought a new HP desk top. It has a AMD Phenom x4 quad-core processor 5120mb memory 75gb hard drive and vista home premium. The problem now is when I try to load civ I get a feature transfer error file: E:data2.cab error: data error (cyclic redundancy check). Is there something I am doing worng. Any help would be great.

Ok so I just cleaned the disk and saw the smallest nick I have ever seen on a disk. So that leads me to my next question is there any way to get it replaced or do I have to buy a new game. Its around three year old or so and I know I don't have a receipt for it so

Can anyone pls help,
I did a fresh reinstall of civ van, warlords and bts, updated to the newest patches. When i try to launch BTS i get this error, "BOOST_PYTHON-VC71-MT-1_32.DLL cannot be found" , i reinstalled it 2 times but still getting the error. I deleted all traces of civ before doing each install and cannot find a solution on the forums.

FIXED: It seems that Warlords was messing up the hierarchy of the files so the patch 3.17 would not take. just uninstalled warlords and problem fixed after reinstalling BTS.

My Civilisation gameplay runs terribly slowly (choppy, low performance etc), i dont know why.
Everything else runs completely smoothly no matter the settings.
I have Vista 64, all the latest windows updates, version 3.17 of BtS, the latest driver for my Geforce GTX 280, 4gb of ram.

Basically I can run everything else i own on any settings, but this inexplicably runs slowly, I DONT KNOW WHY

Why god Why does it do this?
Please help!!!

Can i do that? I used the Direct X set up but it just put on a newer version of 10 i think, i'd be glad to try to put on 9c if it lets me though

:hmm:
when vista first came out microsoft allowed installing both (in fact it 9c just updated some missing code into the 10 install) but if you already did that I fear that you have all you can get.
now for your problems: some things that have caused troubles for some people:
anti-aliasing - did you try turning that off in your card driver?
are movies running the same or worse than the rest of the game?

and turning off anti-aliasing doesnt effect it, neither do any of the in-civ graphics settings, playing BtS by the way, not CivIV if that makes any difference, CivIV says it hates my version of vista and wont open, so i gave up on that a while ago, unless that has anything to do with it

and colonization works perfectly on max settings

colonization uses a new graphics engine - which probably works much better with some vista drivers than the civ4 engine which is more than 3 years old...
having said that: there are a few more settings in the civilizationIV.ini (mostly those with bik or bink in their name) you could try playing around with those :dunno:
