I really miss the ability that fighters and bombers had in Civ 4 to fly recon missions into enemy territory. Anyone else have that gripe too?

I miss a lot of things from IV that aren't in V and still won't be in the G&K expansion...

I don't. Sorry!
In general, I am a fan of streamlined gameplay if it doesn't limit strategy. I think, with the large sight range of fighters, they found a good and elegant solution to limit repetitive micromanagement.

What I would like to see, though, is an additional sight increase with modern jets and a new (high tier) promotion, that increases sight range by +2 tiles.

I'd like to add this, but we'll need the DLL SDK to do it properly I think.

Recon should trigger interception, and could be made above rival territory without (always) triggering war, but should give diplo hit if interception is successful.

This aggravated me the last time I played. If any army commander had aircraft available to him, he would certainly want them to scout enemy positions, in order to formulate a picture of what he is facing on the ground. At least this should be available when at war in the game. I feel they should bring back scouting missions, where you can send your planes out to gather information at risk to being intercepted by air and antiair defenses. After all the first real use of aircraft was for recon.

Hopefully, they have readded scouting missions. There has been no news on this one way or the other, if this will be available in GnK. If not perhaps this is one more thing they could apply to a second expansion. With so many obvious things missing, they'll need a second expansion just to finish the game properly.
