Foreign occupation: safest and most precairous geographic & geopolotical positions?

Isn't Finland of Swedish province anyway?

Or is it Sweden which is a Finnish province?

Duck for cover :D

Did someone mention Brazil already? Large country, lots of population... Can be attacked mostly through jungle...

Probably difficult to invade.

But arent most of Brazils cities on the coast? It I just take the coast and begin a blockade on Brazil will it just die off?

Yes, but so the invaders have not captured the capital and are facing a small nasty guerilla war. Nice for them.

I would say that Brazil has a lot more in it's sleeve rather than just a guerilla war.

I don't know if Brazil could be called a "major" nation, but I'd hate to be a general in charge of an attack against this country. If Vietnam was bad, it's hard even to imagine the logistical nightmare that would be invading Brazil...

And of course, our position is even safer because all of our neighbours are small weak nations.

Taking the coast would be rather problematic on itself... have you seen the size of our coast?

Plus most of Brazil's industry is not located in the coast, but rather in the countryside of São Paulo, Minas Gerais (a landlocked state), Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná. The only state that has a large concentration of industries near the coast is Rio. And capturing Rio alone would be a nightmare, with it's mountains, jungles, swamps and AK's.

Both our industrial and agricultural base are located in the countryside. That's probably why no brazilian ruler evenr felt the need to have a very big army; it's virtually impossible to invade and let alone occupy Brazil.

Despite Brazil being a very big Vietnam, theres still one thing that is different between the two, one that may very well make the difference.

Vietnam has always been invaded for centuries. The people know whats coming at them, no matter under what guise.

Brazil, on the other hand, has never had a real significant invasion by a major power.

However, if the first major power to invade Brazil doesn't use its inexperience to its advantage, heck, we have a bigger and badder Vietnam-style people out in the world. And that would be very very very scary.
