forum down this morning?

It was down for like 30 minutes. Our host AtomicGamer was working on the web server.

It was down for 12 minutes. I asked our host to do a database backup. 
Backup can finish much faster with the forum down.

New server will resolve these random slowdowns, I hope?
It's most frustrating when you go to edit a post and then hit a slow spot, and it takes several minutes before the edit goes through.
Also is there anywhere to see what's going on when we hit a slowdown? A status page on a different server, something like that, to see if it's just a burp or a scheduled outage or the apocalypse?

New server is just for database server. If the random slowdown is caused by web server, then it won't help. We'll see how it performs after the DB server move.

Apolyton created an off site blog so that users could get updates on system status when the main site was down. It might be worth considering a similar idea.

That would be nice, just some little wordpress thing or something, just so when it's actually down, we know if it's scheduled or if you guys are on it or what.
The announcement yesterday was nice, but not very helpful once the site went down.
