I brought the hammer but there’s no one to use it on. Was looking for Shep but he’s hiding out in the forest somewhere. It’s official on a power level we’re pathetic according to some guy. (Wait till we get some Berserkers and I am willing to bet the first one that declares on us is HC)
We need a religion spread too and hoping it’s Buddhism since Lizzy is the highest in score although with her it means she is spawning as usual and isn’t really building a military as such. There is a unknown civ at the top and HC is next so obviously he is building a military so we should watch our southern borders closely.
During this game I took a ton of pictures but couldn’t post them all due to limitations and too much work. (We stooges don’t like work when we heard “Manual labour” we thought it was some Mexican guy) We made a lot; I mean a lot of tech trades during this game and am researching Lit right now with some 14 turns left.
Turn 1
Move scout…… boink
Turn 2
Borders pop at Nidaros
Liz asks for OB and say yes… (hope we get a religion that way)
Turn 3
Settle Uppsala on the spot where the archer is and where the settler landed. (didn’t even notice him in the beginning and poof there he was). Woooop woooop oooohhhh wise guy aye.
Oh some wise guy discovers Judaism. (and it’s HC)
Turn 4
Our scout encounters a barb warrior and dies. I laugh because I didn’t know him.
We also meet the illustrious Mansa Musa who can be a great trading partner.
Turn 5
Nidaros builds worker start an archer for more protection.
Worker has nothing to do at this point so start a road to Uppsala.
Turn 6-7
Nidaros grows and Alpha speeds up. (as soon as we get pottery we should build cottages on FP’s)
Turn 8
Nidaros finishes Archer start another settler as we need to get our cities before we get boxed in by the AI.
Turn 9
Oh yea I removed those lines. Ok no beer when you’re playing Douglas. LOL
The location at the river is good for next spot but I also like the wheat and cows northeast of Nidaros.
Move archer to protect worker as I saw a barb archer wandering around looking for Shep.
Turn 10
We discover Alpha. Of course the Stooges don’t know what to do with it. Next tech is Lit that we need so I click on that in research and it starts Mysticism and then Polytheism but will likely get it next turn trading.
Turn 11
Ok a lot of pretty pictures coming but not near as many I could put up.
Worker finishes the horsies so we are a bit stronger now and can build chariots. (Did they change that from Vanilla to Warlords the 100% increase against axes)
That’s so cool…..no more panic if I see axes with the ability to build chariots. Especially if you decide to skip archery and fooling around with warriors.
Make the following trades:
(PS Wang Chung is the most cooperative and willing so far) (Yes I called him wang chung so I can keep that tune in my head. “Everybody Wang Chung tonight, Everybody have fun tonight lalala)
Turn 12
More trades.
Give Huyana writing.
Also trade Hannibal Alpha for BW and do not revolt to Slavery yet.
Turn 13
We have copper in our fatcross Woooohooooo (Ok we got to watch HC I never trust that guy so we now can build axes once we hook up the copper.)
Turn 14
Worker start on cows at Uppsala. (we should also build another worker to speed up hooking up copper and corn/cottages)
Turn 15
More trades:
As per the variant (wise guy aye). We gift alpha to HC, Liz, and to MM we gift Poly, Pottery. That way nobody is anymore tech savy than the other. That might have an advantage at some point and I have noticed in heavy tech trading games we might find ourselves building space parts in the 1700-1800’s.
So we got the following techs during this turn:
Agriculture, Mysticism, pottery, mining, polytheism, masonry, bronze working, priesthood, monotheism, and Iron working. We can build Oracle but might be too late and we do have stone and marble near by to the west of us. So maybe start settling out that way but I still like the site to the east as that will keep the AI more distant from us.
Good luck FOTH I had all the fun trading………………..
EDIT: I also queued monument in Uppsala after archer (done in 1 turn) as we need the culture there to pop the borders. We now can builds mines and Uppsala will provide great production.
