Ooo. That's gotta hurt. Not as bad as when I spent three hours putting a really nice report together, posting it and then finding out I had played the wrong save  .

I actually haven't tried the easy upload yet :crazyeye: .

When you create a regular post you can scroll down to the bottom and there is a "manage attachment" section. When you click on that, you get a menu to browse for the file you want to upload, etc. Let me know if you have any problem with it.

I usually use imageshack for pictures but you can also post them through the manage attachments option as well. There was a good post from someone I played with in one of my early games that went through the process to post images pretty well. I'll see if I can find a link to that.

Go ahead and grab the save if you get a chance as Baru needs a swap.

Actually, the easy uploader looks pretty easy so that is probably the best way to go.

Here is the link to imageshack if you are interested in that. www.imageshack.us

Photobucket is another option, but I've not used that one.

I guess I will go ahead and play and post tonight unless I check when I get home and douglas posts a got it.

And once again I am really sorry for being the cause of this delay - won't happen again!

Okay, I have played the 15 turns. Nothing really exciting happened...
    Inherited turn- no changes
    T1 wheel-writing
    T7- zzz
IBT- scout attacked by bear (scout in forest + woodsman II)- no exp!
T8- 105 gold from village BUT I moved there with .4/1 hp because I saw an AI archer nearby and wanted the hut first
    IBT- narrow win vs wolves
T9- move scout to +75% terrain plus +50% for woodsman= 225% regular strength
    T10- scout begins healing
    T11- train archer
    IBT- meet hannibal of carthage
T15- this is my last turn- I saved during this turn so it will be the next player's inherited turn. For the next player, as soon as you hit "end turn" your 1st turn begins. This is just so you can look around before having F/H/C spent and so I'm not seeing the IBT before your first turn.

    Here is the save:
    http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/97855/FOTH-01_BC-2680.CivWarlordsSave

And the screenshot...it is a combo of a dotmap and a terrain map.
    http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/97855/Civ4ScreenShot0005.JPG

In case you can't read my writing (I'll use paint next time), the SE city is a potential Commerce city and the NW city can be a production or commerce city- I am leaning towards commerce. Our capital would be a good production or GPF city I think. We might want to settle the NW city first because we aren't exactly going for CoL- and how often does the AI get it early?

Can you post the save in the next hour? I'm heading home from work right now and can play when I get there.

Alright so here we go, got a bit sketchy at the end but no one has died so far. Douglas 21, I couldn;t figure out how to get rid of the writing so I did the best to minimize them in the screenshots. If you do that again (or even not) let me know how to do them and erase them. Thanks my friend.

2640 BC) Writing comes in and of course we go for Alphabet. We don't want to be drawing pictures to get our point across for the next few hundred years!
The archer in the south goes for the hut in the SW.
I played around switching to the coastal but it cut to much time of the settler but changing from forest/grass shaved 2 off Alph and the settler stayed so we went with that.

2600 BC) Archer in south moves on.

2560 BC) Archer away one turn from hut. Northern scout heals, heads east (he's no young man).

2520 BC) If we knew how to pray we would for no agressive villagers, but since we don't we stroll in like the place was ours. Fortunately they think our swagger = power and the give us 64 gold. Scout sees more stone in the north..he guesses thats what the hills are made of but besides throwing them at his dinner he dosen't much care.

2480 BC) Archer heads back to releive garrisoned archer so they may escort settler (5 turns). Scout discovers very barren tundra...there usually is a few huts hidden in them, not this time.

2440 BC) Wang Kon asks for open borders, we politely refuse at this time, he seems confused.

Scout decides age is a matter of the mind and heads west after all.

2400 BC) We meet the locals!

2360 BC) The locals decide to run into our arrows (we swear we were shooting at a bird!) oh well I'm sure we'll meet more.

2320 BC) Scout heading to check the jungles after running into barb archers.
And then Lizzy shows up from the SE.

2280 BC) Lizzy shows up from the SE, but her borders I end up discovering are to the E.
We got the settler ready. I really contemplate a worker (we need one bad for those horses) but I don't trust all the barbs so I play around and micro a little bit and get an archer in 5 turns, we lose one on Alpha but gain 4 on archer.

2240 BC) Archer and settler head for NW city, I want the SE one also but I think we are going to be running a bit short of cash when we settle this and another, plus no jungle.

    2200 BC) Truckin'

2160 BC) Settler party encounters barb archer but they are on a hill. Since we can't pray yet give them a cheer. YAY GO TEAM!

2120 BC) So we fight again.
Yeah we made it, but not as well as i hoped.

Scout encounters barb warrior to the east of our cap...runs to what ends up being Lizzy...he be sly like that.

2080 BC) The end of this round. Archer was finished, sent to bolster the settler party which is healing (is at 1.6).
The barb warrior is at this turn in the tile south of Hannibals warrior, they may resort to fisticuffs.

    FOTH....

A change from the Spanish Inquisition? I have been looking at this game/variant for some time now. I really want to play Warlords game but I am a person who likes to trade aggressively (techs) but hate giving it away unless it is to a inferior civ or want to get them from annoyed to cautious for negotiations.

Grew up with the Stooges as a kid and always enjoyed them. I would be interested in giving it a whirl but I will cringe every time I have to give a tech away. (It's why I only speak up now since I wasn't crazy about the variant).

Here are some things to think about.

Monarch in Warlords tends to be harder than vanilla I noticed (maybe just my imagination) so the AI will at some point tech away. So what do you do?

You research a tech the AI doesn't go for right away and then get what you can for it. If you have to give that all important tech away which also has a wonder you want attached to it. WHAT DO YOU DO. in the spirit of the Stooges woooooopp wooooooop aaaahh wise guy aye.....

Of course one of my favourites is the GL which of course needs Literature and when you want to build it but have given it away you will likely not get to build it.

This may prove to be difficult to get to a space victory but definitely interesting to see what happens. (of course the Internet can always help with keeping the balance there)

So count me in FOTH and looking forward to playing on your team.

Welcome!! Good to be on the same team with you again. And what great timing! You can go ahead and grab the save if you want since Baru and douglas have finished their first rounds. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll go ahead and take the next set.

Monarch does seem to be a little harder on Warlords and we may have to work pretty hard to keep up. Also, the more I've been thinking about this variant, the more challenging I think it is going to be. One clarification on the variant though (something I didn't think of when I was setting this up), we don't have to give a tech to anyone we are at war with, just strikes me a silly to do that.

The big thing is, we will never have a tech lead and we must win by launching the ship. So, it seems to me that we need to be a production monster.

Also, I think we will have to be obsessive about city specialization (glad to see douglas already planning that). To be honest, it is one of my weak points and I'm hoping to improve on that with this group. :D

If you zoom all the way out to the strategic layer, there is an option to draw lines. Also on there is an option to delete all lines. That will remove douglas' drawings.

Cry maybe?? We may want to consider driving all our GP points to GEs to help with this. I'm usually not able to grab that many wonders on Monarch anyway, but this will be even worse as we won't have any head start. Again, we need to really think about how to maximize production as well as research.

    Current Roster:

    Foolonthehill --- On deck!
Baru --- Just Played!! (Swapped with douglas)
    douglas 21 ---
    Cosmichail -- UP! (Already looking for a loophole??:D )

I brought the hammer but there’s no one to use it on. Was looking for Shep but he’s hiding out in the forest somewhere. It’s official on a power level we’re pathetic according to some guy. (Wait till we get some Berserkers and I am willing to bet the first one that declares on us is HC)

We need a religion spread too and hoping it’s Buddhism since Lizzy is the highest in score although with her it means she is spawning as usual and isn’t really building a military as such. There is a unknown civ at the top and HC is next so obviously he is building a military so we should watch our southern borders closely.

During this game I took a ton of pictures but couldn’t post them all due to limitations and too much work. (We stooges don’t like work when we heard “Manual labour” we thought it was some Mexican guy) We made a lot; I mean a lot of tech trades during this game and am researching Lit right now with some 14 turns left.

    Turn 1

    Move scout…… boink

    Turn 2

    Borders pop at Nidaros
Liz asks for OB and say yes… (hope we get a religion that way)

    Turn 3

Settle Uppsala on the spot where the archer is and where the settler landed. (didn’t even notice him in the beginning and poof there he was). Woooop woooop oooohhhh wise guy aye.

Oh some wise guy discovers Judaism. (and it’s HC)

    Turn 4

Our scout encounters a barb warrior and dies. I laugh because I didn’t know him.
We also meet the illustrious Mansa Musa who can be a great trading partner.

    Turn 5

Nidaros builds worker start an archer for more protection.
Worker has nothing to do at this point so start a road to Uppsala.

    Turn 6-7

Nidaros grows and Alpha speeds up. (as soon as we get pottery we should build cottages on FP’s)

    Turn 8
Nidaros finishes Archer start another settler as we need to get our cities before we get boxed in by the AI.

    Turn 9

Oh yea I removed those lines. Ok no beer when you’re playing Douglas. LOL
The location at the river is good for next spot but I also like the wheat and cows northeast of Nidaros.

Move archer to protect worker as I saw a barb archer wandering around looking for Shep.

    Turn 10

We discover Alpha. Of course the Stooges don’t know what to do with it. Next tech is Lit that we need so I click on that in research and it starts Mysticism and then Polytheism but will likely get it next turn trading.

    Turn 11

Ok a lot of pretty pictures coming but not near as many I could put up.

Worker finishes the horsies so we are a bit stronger now and can build chariots. (Did they change that from Vanilla to Warlords the 100% increase against axes)
That’s so cool…..no more panic if I see axes with the ability to build chariots. Especially if you decide to skip archery and fooling around with warriors.

    Make the following trades:

(PS Wang Chung is the most cooperative and willing so far) (Yes I called him wang chung so I can keep that tune in my head. “Everybody Wang Chung tonight, Everybody have fun tonight lalala)

    Turn 12

    More trades.

    Give Huyana writing.

Also trade Hannibal Alpha for BW and do not revolt to Slavery yet.

    Turn 13

We have copper in our fatcross Woooohooooo (Ok we got to watch HC I never trust that guy so we now can build axes once we hook up the copper.)

    Turn 14

Worker start on cows at Uppsala. (we should also build another worker to speed up hooking up copper and corn/cottages)

    Turn 15

    More trades:

As per the variant (wise guy aye). We gift alpha to HC, Liz, and to MM we gift Poly, Pottery. That way nobody is anymore tech savy than the other. That might have an advantage at some point and I have noticed in heavy tech trading games we might find ourselves building space parts in the 1700-1800’s.

So we got the following techs during this turn:

Agriculture, Mysticism, pottery, mining, polytheism, masonry, bronze working, priesthood, monotheism, and Iron working. We can build Oracle but might be too late and we do have stone and marble near by to the west of us. So maybe start settling out that way but I still like the site to the east as that will keep the AI more distant from us.

Good luck FOTH I had all the fun trading………………..

EDIT: I also queued monument in Uppsala after archer (done in 1 turn) as we need the culture there to pop the borders. We now can builds mines and Uppsala will provide great production.

Another thought on the variant FOTH.....

If a civ is annoyed with us I don't think we should have to gift it to an annoyed civ as well as warring civ. I think this as usually they have intentions of war and if we had to give them let's say Civil service/machinery and then they declare of us with stacks of maces WHAT WOULD YOU DO..

Run away and hide or just give to civs that are cautious/pleased or friendly. Of course we cannot motivate a civ to annoyed by arrogant demands or anything else. You DA boss and if we must gift to annoyed civs then I will follow as a blind stooge. pardon the pun.....

(PS apoligize for the triple post)

EDIT: I realize that might not have been the intended settle spot for Uppsala but when I saw the horses/cows and good defensive position I settled there as it is also close to Nidaros to save on Main. Hope that it is ok. We do have iron and stone to the west and since production is a priorty we might want to head that way with our next settler.

    Hey there Cosmichail, nice round.
I was thinking it might be better to settle in spot but figured I would leave that to the next stooge...didn't want to bring the wrath of the double eye poke on me already.
Yeah the chariot 100% bonus is new with warlords and that is why the horses became critical. I didn't notice anyone switching to slavery during my round but I knew they would soon and then we would start seeing Barb axemen and will we need to defend whatever we had.
    Regarding the beer...That dosen't apply to me also...say it ain't so!

I am glad that was what you were thinking to do Baru. I liked the spot for production and immediate access to horses and cows. So if anyone gets the double eye poke it will be me. But don't forget to put your hand at your nosebrow to deflect the poke and revert the poke to the poker. (LOL) Just love those stooges. As to the chariots does that count for Hatty's chariots too. Then her UU has gotten a lot stronger which is probably good as she can be weak at times and easy to defeat.

Baru yes that doesn't apply to you re the beer just to Douglas. He writes as bad as I do and that's without beer. PS I do agree with his ideas though but just got dizzy trying to read it.

EDIT: Baru something I learned in SGOTM just today. If you have only one city and pop a hut it won't produce barbs unless you have more than one city. The reason being so you won't loose in the early game to barbs taking your city which most leave defenseless in the beginning.

Sorry about the messy writing- that is how I always write when using a mouse to draw lines. How can I include a screenshot's picture in a post as opposed to just posting a link to it? Let's get some fogbuster chariots around and a chariot down by the SE site to make sure a barb city or barbs don't organize themselves in that region.

Don't apoligize I was joking around as usual. Agree Douglas with chariots for fogbusting. The new and improved chariots. We have a settler on the way and after that we could build some chariots. Once we get Uppsala going it will be a good production city. Having copper in the capitol is a big help too.

Just start your post, and then when you want to. just hit on the image icon. {Log on first and the go to Logon, fairly simple from there} It should bring you to your uploaded files. Once there it is Quite easy...but if you have just been pressing 'print screen' then they might not be where they should be, at least in my case. So search and you will find them......do a manual search, narrow it down. I just did some for a game that I am really enjoying..nothing came up. I am sure if someone with more knowledge reads this they are going to be disgusted......but people always say to me.

Your affective and effective but I can't understand how you are!
    Spelling aside for now.

Well double post on the heels but that was another subject, so I feel justified.

I do think the SE city first proposed is a (almost) must. Should be a damn good city if we can keep the borders at bay. I am afraid that once we get there the "Land Grapping Bit()ch will have got there already, but if we have to head west off it then at least we all have lake views. If we get that and make a rush towards the south we can cut off most from getting to the west.
Now we just have to get the garrison to make it possible without sacrificing to much for the settlers.

Sounds like I want it all at once:crazyeye:

Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.....things are moving along nicely.

Got it. Should be able to play today. :D

Had to think about this for a while. You raise a good point; however, the spirit of the Wiki world is that all knowledge should be shared, even with the nasties. Should add a little spice to things. ;)

I think with all of the trading and gifting, there actually won't be that many that are annoyed with us. We can create that annoyance depending on how we handle religion, and we may want to in some cases since we can't initiate an attack ourselves.

I'm very interested to see how quickly this will happen. This is a heavy tech trading game on steroids, so the launch could be really early (hopefully by us!!)

EDIT: Doesn't look like I'll get to it tonight, but will play tomorrow.

Sounds good FOTH.. Yep so far nobody dislikes except for HC I think.

The more you trade the faster the game goes indeed.
