Turn 0 1890
Isabella's dead? I don't get to take out La Reyna de las Perras? Oh well, there's always Vicky, right? What does Vicky have left, anyway? I see London (I see France
), Newcastle, Liverpool, Dover, and Brighton. All but the first two are on the southern island.
More looking around shows axemen and archers busting fog on the main continent. I don't know how sophisticated the barbs are right now, but I doubt they're still sending axes and archers. Let's remember to keep some gold around incase we need to upgrade an archer to infantry in the face of a musketman.
Scary. The power graph shows Napoleon keeping pace with us. Probably has a bunch of low-end units (though I can see three cavalry). A look at the F5 screen shows that we have 33 Cossacks, 18 Cannons, 4 Riflemen, and 4 Infantry, amongst other lesser units. Militarily, we're doing just fine.
Let's check-in RNGod-wise. We've got 28 turns to get a next-gen tech. I whip out my handy-dandy tech fold-out and see that we're in the orange group. Gray is next. The first group in gray are Refrigeration, Radio, Rocketry, and Flight. Here's our path to each:
Refrigeration: Physics 5, Biology 5, Electricity 8, Refrigeration 7. Total = 25.
Radio: Physics 5, Electricity 8, Radio 11. Total = 24.
Rocketry: Physics 5, Artillery 6, Rocketry 9. Total 20.
Flight: Physics 5, Flight 9. Total 14.
Now, I know Danski wanted a path to Industrialism for tanks. However, both in variant terms and game terms, I veto this idea. In variant terms, that path takes longer than 28 turns. Physics, Electricity, Assembly Line, Industrialism, Plastics (the closest gray tech) has got to be more than 28. In game terms, though, I don't see anyone not of RNGod persuasion left on this planet by the time we research the requirements, build tanks, and ferry them over.
Flight can arrive in 14 turns and we can rebase fighters to whichever cities we occupy. To me flight is more immediately useful, so that's the path I set.
For the rest of my turn 0, I decide not to MM anything. Can I put in a vote that we turn on governors and emphasis for our cities?
Anyhow, press enter
IBT Vicky's navy takes out a fishing boat (don't know where) and bombards Seville to 36%. The funny thing is, she's got absolutely no troops anywhere near Seville. Go ahead, toots. Bombard to your heart's content.
Turn 1 1892
Bangalore, Bombay, and Barcelona all finish Cossacks and begin Infantry. We have about 10 workers sleeping in Barcelona and I set them to work building railroads. (Guilt-ridden confession: I set about six to automate trade routes. Breathe, Fox, breath. Count to 10. Calm. Calm.)
The Battle for London
Defenses are at 20-something percent. One cannon takes it to 0. I suicide my second cannon. We now have one Redcoat at 9.3/16 and two at 14.6. The Mighty IPM, who is now a Grenadier so renamed to IPG , has 96% odds, but that's against a Longbow. Why does the Longbow have better odds than the Redcoats?
Anyhow, none of my Cossacks have great odds against the Redcoats, so I send in another cannon. This one withdraws and we now have Redcoats of 12, 8, and 13.3 strength.
I send in the first Cossack at 70.3% and he withdraws after taking his foe to 3.6. Cossack two wins at 84.5%. Cossack three wins at 88.8%. Now it's time for IPG to take out the Longbow and he does so quite easily. All London has now are a wounded Pikeman, a very wounded Redcoat, and a Catapult.
Send another Cossack at the wounded Pikeman. 98.9% odds and he loses!!! Take a look at this RNGod-be-damned combat log. Note, I had to piece it together from 2 screeies because, since the patch, I can no longer resize it vertically. Anyone else have that problem?
Oh well, two more Cossacks and a Cannon mop up and London is captured and kept.
The Battle for Newcastle
I suicide a cannon, but the bastard refuses to follow orders, preferring to withdraw. A Cossack relieves Vicky of a Newcastellean Longbow and two cannons mop up the slops. Newcastle is captured and also kept.
Vicky no longer has a presence on the mainland, so I start bring many troops down to Newcastle where they'll heal and take the ferry to Liverpool. After a while, the number of troops gets ridiculous, so I start sending a few north in case Napoleon asks us over for dinner.
Lastly, Vick had brought a Frigate up next to one of our loaded Galleons near Moscow so I had to hide in the city.
Take a look at our darling of a culture algorithm. Where's that coming from?

Turn 2 1894
Turn one took forever so I just hit shift-enter. Just kidding. Nothing much did happen, though. Statue of Liberty completes in Novgorod and so I start a Cannon. Hun completes a Library and begins an Observatory. Otherwise, just a bunch of troop movement.
IBT watch that barb galley go back and forth about seven times.
Turn 3 1896
I get a congratulator message on completing our first gunpowder unit (Infantry). Huh? Our Cossacks use slingshots? Anyhow, Madras builds an Infantry and starts another. Lastly, Hastings comes out of revolt and begins a Lighthouse.
IBT Vicky's Frigate comes back to haunt Moscow. She chose poorly.
Turn 4 1898
We've got a lot of war wariness amongst the minions. I'm thinking we just hit some sort of milestone because many of the cities started smoking this turn.
Moscow is seriously angry and is now starving. It, along with St. Petersburg and Rostov, completes an Infantry. They all three begin more Infantry. Novgorod completes a Cannon and begins and Infantry. Rome finishes a Harbor and builds an Observatory. Madrid goes from Barracks to University. Nottingham comes out of revolt and begins a courthouse. And--finally--Sevelle wraps up a Jewish Temple and starts a Frigate (which will become a destroyer next turn when we hook up the oil).
We've got angry everywhere. Lots of it. It would seem that the average minion doesn't like all the killing we've been dishing out. So to placate the masses, I plunge the empire into
two turns of anarchy and revolt to Police State and Emancipation (also a good source of unhappiness).
I finally decide to grow tired of Vicky's insolent Frigate that returned to box in our Galleons at Moscow, so I upgrade them both to transports (135 each) and load them up.
Turn 5 It's the 20th century!
Coventry comes out of revolt and begins a Theater. Then one of our laden Transports scuttles that Frigate at Moscow. (99% odds)
IBT Vicky attacks a frigate near Liverpool and the slut wins.

We come out of anarchy with a lot less unhappy in our world.
