Via the german IT site golem.de news are reaching us about a new project: Freeciv for Android is in the making!
While the official Civ5 mobile version is not yet available for Android smartphones, a very early stage of the open source civilization version Freeciv can already be downloaded.
The current version offers basic functionalities like moving units around, adjusting the city production and basic diplomacy.
This version is currently not avialable in the Android store, but will be offered there after it is finished. The early version, which does not yet have all features implemented and is quite away from being finished, can be downloaded from the authors website, and requires Android 2.0 or higher and 7.3 mb harddrive space.

Interesting city names "Stack Overflow, Kernel Panic, Buffer Overrun, Compiler, Divide by Zero" :D

I tried Freeciv on PC, it is really just a rip-off of Civ2 with a couple of 'new' rules thrown in and borders. It allows stacking units but if you lose one unit in battle from your stack, the entire stack is deleted.

You'd need to pay me money to play this!
