Because it's bollocks to go back 1000 years to determine the border between states or countries? Almost all German states (Länder) created after 1945 are artificial constructions anway.

But Saxony is indeed one of the states that might one day be merged with others (Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia). Of course this is only a plot designed to further marginalize the Sorbs.

It's never nice to divide a land inhabited by a national minority into two. I don't think Germans did it to make harm to Sorbs, but I think they simply didn't think about them or didn't care about them.
You did look into history to create lands. Some had to be merged with others, borders had to be changed... Otherwise there would be a Lippe land, like once, but the fundament is history. Otherwise there would be no Meklemburg-Vorpommern, no Brandenburg, no Saxony, no Turingen.

I think we shouldn't make nothing new, just re-introduce XVI century divisions. All former catholic bishops' posessions should return to them, especially in the now-protestant areas. This will make it more fun.

I don´t see the point of this, really. The Sorbs are a fully recognized minority, they got their own newspapers, insitutions, money and have the same rights as every other German.
And as international law has NO right to secede at all, with some possible exceptions for breaches of human rights by a state, there is nothing to discuss, isn´t it? And I´ve never heard anything from a Sorb representative implying the wish for independence, some WN crackpots aside.

The French fit the well-off problemless western state definition. What did You risk in ww2? Loss of Alsace and Lorraine, which were majorly german anyway, and only belonged to France for last 200 years or so. It's not as if Germans wanted to take Reims, or talked about "eternally German" Chartres.
Also, there are no french-language territories that are not independant or autonomic:
Valonia is half of Belgium, and it is the one that wants to keep it. French is official language in Luxembourg, though there aren't that many Frenchmen there. French is official language in part of Switzerland, and Val d'Aosta is autonomic.
On the other hand, Bretagne, Dunquerque, Alsace, Lorraine, Provence, Languedoc, the Basque lands, Corse, Roussillon etc, that were originally non-french or langue d'oc french, are under french rule and are being turned french.
It's easy to be happy about status quo when You have everything You had bigger or lesser claim to. France kept its historical, very wide, boundaries, with all places important for french history. Most of the nations didn't have, and can't have, that luck, so try to understand them.

I know about Vichy, that Germans occupied Paris and atlantic coast of France, and later entire France, but what the French suffered is completely uncomparable to what Poles, Belarusians or Russians suffered in the east. Frenchmen weren't lower human form, and France was not lebensraum.
