I am on my 3rd GOTM and having a blast, but now I think I would like to also contribute to the QSC. Is there an Excel or Word template that anyone has that I can fill out? I would make one of my own, but I'm not sure how the years count down.

Do you have Microsoft Front Page or a Visual HTML editor? If you like I can give you mine HTML template.

Moonsinger,

Yes, I believe I do. At least I did on my old computer, but not sure if I transferred it over yet. It would be an honor to use your template as I have followed your domination of the game since I started on GOTM17.

Ok, I will email it to you around 7:00PM Central Time. My template is at home and I'm still at work at the moment. I will email it to you right after I get home tonight. I have two versions of it. One with the three column: turn #, date, event (this is my improved version for GOTM19) and you know what the other one look like. Of course, I will send both of them to you.:)

PS: If I remember correctly, Microsoft Front Page does come with Windows XP, if you don't see an icon (shortcut) for it, you can search for it then send it to the Desktop.

Thank you Moonsinger. When I continue playing GOTM19 this evening, I will write down my moves, and then transfer it over to your template. I made 4 moves so far, so I don't want to forget them.

scubagtr,

Actually, I just found a copy of it here (at work, please don't tell my boss). How does this one look?

PS: If you want more time, I have a little program that can generate it all the way to 2050AD.

On the Gotm submission form. Do you enter the score from the turn before the game ends in the final score box, or the victory adjusted score from the turn after the game ends?

You enter the score from the turn just after the game ends on the GOTM submit form...

And welcome to CFC...

You find time to work as well as play!!! :)

Oh, don't tell me...

... You're an agricultural process flow controller (AKA a milkmaid in Olde Englishe) :) :) :)

You're welcome....:)
And it sure is interesting, I've learned huge loads about the game here. I can honestly say that the advice and articles at CFC have made me move up two difficulty levels in civ3, so you (and Me) can really learn a lot from the experienced players...

I want to play gotm 19 but I'm having trouble getting started...I copied the 8 new units folders but can't find where to paste them. I also need the other units from gotm 16,17, and 18...

based on the fact that you reference "8 new units folders" for the game pack, I can see that you are trying to setup the PTW version of the game.

(some of this informations is inside the readme.txt file in your game pack)

The key issue for you is to be able to locate two different folders:

the folder where the units go will generally be located at:

C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\Units

the folder where the "pediaicons.txt" file will nee to go will generally be located at:

C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Text

-------------------------------------------
Extra graphics that you need can be downloaded from the "Loading the Graphics Packages" section in the middle of the PTW setup instructions webpage at:

http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/gotm19_start_PTW.shtml

The reason these graphics are dowloaded in separate groups is because some players already have one or more of the prior games graphics packages already installed.

Let me know if you have any trouble locating or dowloading any of the graphics packages and I can email them directly to you if you contact me at gotm@civfanatics.net

Welcome to the game and we hope you have fun.

Just a quick question... Is the Civil Defense Supposed to require Aluminum?

Because then it doesn't appear until Rocketry rather than at Radio, which is a requisite tech for rocketry anyway!

Nope, the civil defense is not supposed to require Aluminum and in the PTW version of the games it does not.

We will fix that in the Civ3v1.29 versions.

This probably has little or now effect of the game progress because if you actually need the Civil Defense improvement you may be in very dire straits anyway that go well beyond the scope of scoring related issues.

The initial testing indicated that civil defense and radar towers may have been introduced into the game primarily for special game functions to reduce the chance of death in Multiplayer games.

I'll fix the spurious resource requirement for all future games. (Where it came from was borrowing and modifying the data records for the SAM missile battery).

The biggest effects of the CD and the radar tower are how they are used by the AI.

The AI will build them and they often need to be taken out before attacking the city. A size 20 city with a half dozen MI a radar tower and CD is almost untouchable by tanks without taking the radar first and using a large stack of Artillery to soften the city to below size 12 and take out any CD's. From what has been seen here of late it is very rare to see a conquest or Domination game get to that point. But I have seen it resently in a few SG games.

I can't find the gotm19 save i've used 15 search engines at the same time one took me to the gotm page but thats as close as i got

Tee Hee - search engines won't find pages which are shy!

Cut and paste the link at the bottom of the readme file from the download - I would just post it here but there are 2 versions (one for vanilla 1.29 and one for PTW).
