I'll answer here, and hopefully Padma, Chieftess, or Turner will merge these posts with that thread.
1. About Wonders
-The AI does not 'prebuild'. What this [legal] tactic does is, before you research a tech that has a wonder, set your city's production to something expensive like another wonder, a palace, or an expensive improvement. Then, when you research the tech for the wonder you want, switch the production in that city to the wonder. Then, you'll already have shields 'invested' in the wonder.

Or, just getting to the tech first and having lots of mines (for production) around your city will help.
2. Regarding Trading
-If you can keep up with them in techs, then it will be easier to trade. Tech for tech deals can quickly increase the science rate. However, if you are behind, try trading gold per turn (gpt), your lump sum treasury, and resources for techs from big civs which you can then sell to another civ that doesn't have that tech. That way, you are
brokering, yet keeping up with techs. Note: The AIs value resources that are important, like coal and iron, very much!!
3. Regarding Gold In Wars
-Just keep going as if you were normal. Roads are the key. If all the tiles your cities work are roaded, your economy will be booming with gold. If you like to do a lot of rushes, try trading for some gpt so that you can have gold to spare. If you were in a government with war weariness (Republic or Democracy), luxuries will keep your citizens happy so that you can keep working tiles to earn gold.
Hope this helps, and welcome to CFC.
