Galley is way too far away, let's keep that there for seafood protection against barb galleys.

Galley is way too far away, let's keep that there for seafood protection against barb galleys.

after barb city gets captured barb galleys has nowhere to come from honestly.

Which means I would delete gallery all together at some point,

Oh, yeah, I completely missed that galley until 4-5t into it.

Existing settler: where it's sitting or 1E of there.

New settler: we were talking about NNE of the cow, I think.

So can I go ahead with this? Except no scouting WB and settle according to bbps plan? Will play tmr,

Played until CS.

Settle Ur 1E to get pigs in first ring.

Whitey goes FR/Caste/Buero and we're no longer his WE.

Greeny liberates the peace city to indigo.

Whitey demands calendar and I happily agree :)

Found Nibru NNE of cows.

Finish Palace in gems.

Capture harappan losing 1 newb vulture I think and get a worker for free :)

Finish CS. Only AI not knowing it is 2t from finding out :(

Other things: Built a few more workers and forges are whippable nearly everywhere. Also built a scouting chariot, handy for finding SODs coming our way. I also made 2 more resource deals.

That's about it. We're kinda screwed researchwise, I think we should run 0% until we get the GS who builds an academy in gems if we want to have a shot at lib. Bulbing wouldn't do I think as we don't get another GS in time. One AI already has paper.

Not sure how much sense there is in continuing with such low interest...

Well SGOTM12 did start after all...
Moreover I think this isn't as hard as most of us expected. As long as we stick around to ~Cannons, this game is pretty easy imo.

Sure, we all expected SGOTM12 to start later and fill the time with this game. Thus my question whether we want to continue at all.

Since all of us are playing in the SGOTM, why don't we just put this one on hold for now? We can see if there's interest later. If not, someone can always just take it and play through, as Soirana suggested.

:bump:

Now that SGOTM 12 is wrapping up, I figured I'd get around to finishing some of the old SG's that went into hibernation. Anyone around to continue this one?

I was wondering how long it would take you to get on this. :D

Like I said in the SGOTM thread, I think I'm retiring from SG play at least for the time being. Completely exhausted after that game and I need a long break from daily Civ.

That said, I do wanna see this one completed. If you and kossin and perhaps one more pick this up, I'll try to lurk and comment, but won't play any sets.

 Those are famous last words bbp. I think that's what LC said before he started playing sets for OSS. Then again, you guys did play a pretty intense SGOTM what with the crazy post count.

Was waiting for that bump as well ;)

Well I guess I could help wrap this up, I'm not really playing much civ anymore but am on holidays so that should work. Actually planned a game over msn with ras (we're probably WANTING to play this game for a year but didn't get any further than rolling a start ) but he, once again, went without a note, just to turn up in three months as if nothing has happened :p

So, I guess shyuhe and me are alone so far, maybe there are other players liking to join...?

We can always start the ball rolling to see if anyone else perks up. It's a little sad that the civ 4 SG forum has more activity than the shiny new civ 5 SG forum.

Well that doesn't surprise me at all. I had a go at ciV and it definitely looks nice and shiny and everything but it sucks with no end. I wont rant about all I don't like about ciV right now, let's get back to the game ;)

Fine then, shyuhe, let's have a go ;) like good 'ol times, eh? Just gotta fire up that save and see where we stand...

Looks like I played the last set

OK a little sum up:

Good things to say about our situation:

  • We have lots of cities; 10.
  • Diplo; with no other religion but hinduism we're not in trouble that much.
  • We're not at war but even have peace treaties.
  • We're no-ones WE.
  • We have lots of resources (and should renegotiate our deals as soon as we get money for them).

Bad things:
  • Teching is bad.
  • GP is even worse :vomit:
  • Scouting was practically non-existent.
  • We have 2 pretty dominant AIs on our continent.
  • We have no clue where our northern border is just by looking

Fun fact of the day: We have 2 cottages in gold city

... so since I played the last set, it makes you up, so you may draw up a PPP now :)

I guess next set is all about infra, whipping forges like mad. I'd wait 1t in uruk so we can 2pop whip it and employ 3 specs until GP is born. Eridu should also 2pop whip (right now) and just after 1pop regrowth (size 6) hire an engineer together with the scientists, to improve our shortterm (read: up to lib) GP output.

I guess our goal is to win the lib race somehow. That our GPs are kinda late isn't this bad as we need time to accumulate gold anyway. Cities with base infra in place should start building wealth soon. We can either switch to compass at 0% as we need it to bulb lib if we want that but it doesn't look at all like we'd get 3 GSs in time so I think we should settle to bulbing edu + paper/lib. Bulbing lib gives more beakers but bulbing paper is safer path as we may trade for machinery (should we manage that anyway).

We should also sacrifice a turn of anarchy for buerocracy.

Your thoughts, shyuhe? :p

I vaguely recall that we built an academy or settled a GS somewhere but I can't remember which city  Looks like I'll have to look at the save! I'll take a look later today and post some thoughts.
