Full Monty

Looks good. Barb city is actually very good for us, let's hope we have some time and can capture it later with a granary or worker for free. Also means we should be able to seal off from monty more easily.

I like 1E of gems. Hillside city will really help I think. Semiisolation could be good for us if we manage to overpower monty, there might be some monty-monty fights elsewhere. Need to keep an eye on GG emerges. Is it correct that there are no phants anywhere?

I still prefer building a faster settler from size 2.

I'm ok with hill city.

I think we need some big picture. Does look like semi-iso. Chalc founded both Hindu and, I assume, Juda, so there may be a bit less carnage elsewhere than we might hope for... I have no experience with this at deity/normal, but should we consider just cranking out 4-6 vultures and going straight for a choke? We'd need to locate him first, but he can't be too far away. Jags are resourceless, but they'd be pretty crappy against vultures.

Well guess this is all the input we'll get so I'll try to play tonight.

@bbp
Growing Eridu to 3 vs 2
My idea was to avoid losing 2 turns of not working the rice when Uruk switches to riverside grassland. From that point, growing to size 3 is fast and doesn't cost us much time for the city by gems. Finally, whipping down to 1 pop means we stop working a good tile (granted it's 4 turns of copper now vs 4 later, but later would help more I figure).

The alternative is to start the settler when Uruk grows to 4 so that there is some food stored for faster re-growth. The more I think about it, the more I like this option as we get the best of both worlds.

If I don't get more feedback, I will decide during my set on t4.

Ok. My thought was getting gem mine a few turns sooner, but I'm not even sure we have worker turns for that.

What are you building in Uruk next?

@bbp
Uruk: Either a worker or barracks>Vultures. Depends on the state of barb cities (in danger of being captured). I'd prefer a worker now as with our coming jungle cities we'll be short on workers really fast.
Anyway, I will re-evaluate in game after Eridu grows to see what's possible to do.

@shyuhe
Building MP warriors while regrowing is an option, could work well in Eridu.

Some good news, some not so good news.

The good first.
Spoiler :

Tin event

Not in semi-isolation (knew this from espionage 2 turns in my set)

The bad.
Spoiler :

#1 Indigo Monty has a city close by the gems

#2 Green Monty settled the gems

The rest.
Spoiler :
They have border tension... that's good maybe. (-2 and -1)

Some Iron in our borders.

There's also another between the 2 barb cities.

A fish off the coast of eastern barb city.

Stopped on t51 after IW and focused espionage on Indigo Monty.

Haven't looked at the save yet, but fark! We have to go conquer barbs to get gems now? Looks like we'll need a bunch of vultures to go take the southern and northern barb cities now :( Is there room for a gem city of our own or is it totally out of the question? If it's out, we can plant a city between the cow/iron on the southern coast and work some cottages for Uruk.

Crap. :( So, our IW move ain't gonna pay off.
Where do we send the settler now? Doesn't look like there's any good blocking site between the two barbs.
Edit: x-post

Green Monty settled gems in his first ring so indeed it's not looking too good.

We can still settle the gems N of Bactrian but it would have no food.

We can still win this but boy have we hit a snag.

Don't like stretching that far without food.

The cow/fish site is pretty good short-mid term. If we insta-pasture, then mine GH and chop mine PH with 2 workers, we could get a really quick return on investment there. Maybe get 1-2 vultures rolling before the Montys take the barb cities away?

Let's plant a city 1N of the Bactrian gems. We really need them to fuel some economy and pay for vultures to go take the two barb cities. It's not a great long-term city but it can pay for itself with gems + some riverside cottages (or farms). Plus if we push borders, we might steal green Monty's gems. We'll almost surely pop borders first (unless he has Stonehenge) so we should be able to hold on. And it's under 8 tiles so it shouldn't trigger land targeting. Too bad it's not on a hill.

Looks like we really need the northern one now. And conquering the southern one should help the culture fight against green Monty (until he declares :lol:).

edit: we should also dedicate our EP to one of the two Monty's. I'm thinking green since he's slightly closer.

Indeed not looking too good :(

1N of bactrian gems looks best to me. I'm thinking, maybe we can take an opportunity with a few vultures to snag 1-2 cities from greenie but we can't count on that. Capturing the barb cities is really high priority now to make sure we get some land.

We were going to use the first GS for an academy in gemcity, what now? Provided our self-settled city gets the 3 gems from monty we'd have a good spot, but building an academy in a city with no food resources... meh.

Ok, I looked at the save, and 1N of gems is fine with me. If we get attacked very early, might be hard to defend without food for an emergency whip or two, but we need to grab some land.

We need those barb cities bad.
